I just realized something. he stores his highly explosive bazooka ammo...on his shield. which is supposed to be used for blocking gunfire. >.> something doesn't seem right here...
Most of the earlier versions of his suit were almost a rose pink more than red. Personally I prefer this one, but I can see how people might balk at the darker hue.
gotta say, I really love your reviews [mainly the gunpla reviews] keep at it man, I love hearing your perspective on kits being a relatively new gunpla builder.
+TYPE V3 Never actually watched much gundam besides 00 and watching g when I was younger so I wouldn't really know. Though I still feel that design choice is kinda dumb. May as well be an ammo rack rather than a shield. But hey why tank hits when you can dodge like a boss. lol
Its not really a shield, its more of an ammo holder, which is heavily armored to protect the ms if it were to be shot Also in the ova/anime the zaku's were originally designed for anti ship combat, and were decades ahead of the rx project (in the beginning; before the gundam) and didn't really get hit.
This has got to be the best painted Zaku ever. You did an AMAZING job on an already AMEIJIN Mobile suit. Now if only they could make a remade HG Ginn like this...................
FANTASTIC job on the painting, weathering, and decal work; love it! The Origin Zakus look so good, I love the new detailing, proportions, and accessories... think I'm gonna end up buying a squad. haha
wow, i'm really glad you painted it. i probably would have just past on this hg until seeing what it could really look like with a bit of painting and weathering. good job with that.
i happen to love the darker colored red. Don't get me wrong, the salmon color will always be iconic as it better represents the anime. But the entire opening when you see that blazing red mobile suit tear through the federation war ships, it SCREAMED the phrase "Red Comet".
I feel like they just animated the CAD models of the RG in Origin. So this seems like a nice solid version of that RG design in the anime's colors. I like the classics colors of the RG so I'll pass on this but I'm tempted to grab a tristar for sure.
I have the RG Zaku and I gotta say I wasn't that interested in this HG until I saw this review; this kit impressed me. I agree it needs a paintjob, probably even more than the RG. But other than that it's overall a great product. I'm looking forward to the inevitable HGUC RX78-2 Origin, since it's probably the version I like the most. I do hope the ovas get better, I liked the first one but it pales in comparison as to how good the manga actually is.
Although this vid is old my interest in gundam is new. I appreciate ur insight, so now I’ll look at the rg to see if the hg is good enough and maybe have the nerve to do some battle damage since the hg it’s less expensive. Thnx again. Leo
I just got mine. They changed a few things here and there like packaging and the sticker sheet is all one sheet now. I love this kit and I'm in the middle of it now. I used a pink eye marker instead of the sticker but I might just clean it and use it anyway.
When I look at this kit I see it painted in the green zaku grunt colors. Never been a fan of the Char colors on it. Tbh I didn't really start liking zakus until I got the RG...that kit is what got me to notice how cool they actually are. I'm also wonderin if it would be possible to turn this into the Zaku Amazing...just a thought. Great review as always...yet another kit on my list thanks to you.
Makes ya wonder if they might release the repainted standard green version, I know I'd love to own it since char's zaku isnt my favorite, If not guess its time to break out the paint :/
I got my Origin Char's Zaku II at a department and it was already assembled. Therefore, I didn't know that it has toe joints and that seperate waist joint. What a surprise! By the way, I like the Origin version more than the RG version for its darker tone of red. It just work for me.
You should build the hg gadessa if you haven't already just randomly picked it up and it's a super fun build and the color scheme is rad except a few of the stickers it's solid
2:18 I wonder if you can make a more refined version of the Zaku Amazing using this kit's body instead and parts from the Amazing? Your review of the Zaku Amazing said it was kinda meh, but this is quite an advancement in Zaku model design.
What I like about the Origin line is that it sets a higher standard for HG. If I am honest, I wish that future HG releases would be based on the standards of the Origin Zaku II. For example the Gunpla Evolution Project HG Zeta Gundam should have taken hints from the Origin line in terms of detail and colour separation.
Witch King The ones coming this year are from the Gundam Thunderbolt series. The Red Zaku is the Zaku II High Mobility Type (Reuse P-Device) I don't know when they will release this beauty... Probably after they release the new Zakus since they will have a new frame to base it with.
I generally don't like RG kits due to the sheer amount of parts leading to a great number of things that can go wrong. I was given the RG RX-78, and, to be frank, I hate it. Pieces are constantly falling off, things are always moving when they shouldn't, and I feel its visually too busy. I hated the hands as well- getting the weaponry in place was a huge pain... Thats one thing they did improve over time with including dedicated holding and action hands to later RG kits. The experience overall has made me extremely wary of the line, and as a result I've only purchased one other RG- the Exia. Although the only reason I got the Exia was because I had the "repair" parts, so its currently on my shelf in its deteriorated (albeit badass) looking state.
instead of getting the revived version of the RX 78-2 gundam how about if you just wait for it's origin version it should pretty much have all the gimmick that revived version have and much more, or at least that's what i think
How did you get that metallic effect on the black parts like the chest and bottom of the feet and hands? VERY INTERESTED PLEASE snapping mine now I have to know!
7:41 “Nothing hugely crucial is missing” Ehhhhh... the Zaku machine gun? (Ik they included it in the newest version but i don’t get what they were thinking back then)
I wish mine felt as solid as yours looks, I love the Zaku II, but mine feels like it's about to fall apart, and it discourages me from going into further detail with it.
ive watched ur videos before and i would love to know what paint and or shading ur using for the black in the inner frame and chest in this zaku and the weapons and missle pods in meijin kawaguchi's zaku (the weapons and stuff.) its rly nice!!
The only issue I have with this kit is that it doesn't include the standard zaku machine gun, but that's okay because I already have other zakus to remedy that, but other than that it's a great kit
+Hiruko Kagetane It's based off of the first ORIGIN OVA and Char never used a machine gun. But really, why have a Machine-gun when this kit has the Anti-Ship Rifle?
***** Well,it would've been really nice to have it as an extra. They did give the Zaku Amazing the machinegun, bazooka and all that.So I don't think there's any excuse not to include them even if it wasn't used in the show.(I'm looking at you Amazing Red Warrior)
If you want a machinegun, you should buy the HG ORIGIN 1/144 Zaku II High Mobility Type (BLACK-STARS USE), and it should be out this September. It has a Giant Heat Hawk, Standard Heat Hawk, and Machinegun.
I don't know if I should get this guy or the hguc one Once from the origin which is one of my fav series and the other one doesn't have any poly caps so am at a lost here
Another positive in the HG's favour: It's red. I never cared for "Char Pink" and it's nice to finally have a RED comet.
+TaurusOxford Finally, someone else UNDERSTANDS.
I KNOW RIGHT. I never liked the pink
LoliMaster 69 idk I like the classic pink/salmon design. It’s just so iconically char.
I like the Origin Zaku IIs because the colors are darkened, but catching the light shifts their pallets to look more like the classic anime.
I just realized something. he stores his highly explosive bazooka ammo...on his shield. which is supposed to be used for blocking gunfire. >.> something doesn't seem right here...
It's Char. He never gets hit.
***** then how did the zeong get blown up, and how did the neo-zeong get ripped to shreds
they were too big :)))
***** you know, char also isnt the only one who does that.
It's because of his pink pigmentation. "They can't hit me if I'm pink"
Gundam purists will hate how red it is? IT'S CHAR'S FUCKING MOBILE SUIT IT DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH RED DAMMIT.
Most of the earlier versions of his suit were almost a rose pink more than red. Personally I prefer this one, but I can see how people might balk at the darker hue.
This one is so good. I'm buying this + Barbatos for my first builds. Wish me luck!
+Rezu55 Bad luck.
+TYPE V3 aw why?
Weekend Wifiguy I might know why!!maybe he wished her/him bad luck cause him or her isn't subscribed to him!!!maybe that's why.
gotta say, I really love your reviews [mainly the gunpla reviews]
keep at it man, I love hearing your perspective on kits being a relatively new gunpla builder.
Gotta love how it holds explosive ammo on its freaking shield of all places...
+Penmasterjay This is fucking Char, you think he'll get hit?
+TYPE V3 Never actually watched much gundam besides 00 and watching g when I was younger so I wouldn't really know. Though I still feel that design choice is kinda dumb. May as well be an ammo rack rather than a shield. But hey why tank hits when you can dodge like a boss. lol

This has got to be the best painted Zaku ever. You did an AMAZING job on an already AMEIJIN Mobile suit.
Now if only they could make a remade HG Ginn like this...................
I swear. I love the way you pose and showcase toys and gunpla. It really makes me wanna buy them. Great video!
FANTASTIC job on the painting, weathering, and decal work; love it! The Origin Zakus look so good, I love the new detailing, proportions, and accessories... think I'm gonna end up buying a squad. haha
wow, i'm really glad you painted it. i probably would have just past on this hg until seeing what it could really look like with a bit of painting and weathering. good job with that.
the weathering looks fantastic, you really improved the looks of this kit a lot!
I love the articulation on this one, need to get me one of em. And red is my 2nd favorite color so yeah, awesome!
Great review, nice paint apps as well! I love all the origin designs!!! can't beat the origin classics!
could you do a really short video talking about how you paint your models
I Know its not your thing we don't need a tutorial video just interested
+Wyatt Arthur www.ghostofzeon.com/diy/detailing/dry_brushing.html
This is what you are looking for.
So thats it looks about right thanks
+Wyatt Arthur That would be a waste of a video.
Taurus Helped answer the question
No reason to make a video now thanks though I was very interested
Its not that difficult to paint, just drybrush.
We need a Zaku and GM in the revive line.
All in due time.
***** I know....
There is a revive of the Ground GM and GM Snipers coming out next year!
John Cole And then maybe the Guntank, right? Zeong? :D
I shouldn't push my luck.
MarmaladeJacket Hmm......maybe.
I wish you would make a video showing how you actually went about painting Char's Zuka for us noobies.
Richard Virrueta zuka?
i happen to love the darker colored red. Don't get me wrong, the salmon color will always be iconic as it better represents the anime. But the entire opening when you see that blazing red mobile suit tear through the federation war ships, it SCREAMED the phrase "Red Comet".

+T16skyhopp Yeah, I'm definitely in for the Tristars now.
Char Zaku It is always cool to be seen . First is the most favorite mobile suit in Gundam .
I have the RG Zaku and I gotta say I wasn't that interested in this HG until I saw this review; this kit impressed me. I agree it needs a paintjob, probably even more than the RG. I do hope the ovas get better, I liked the first one but it pales in comparison as to how good the manga actually is.
+Novapoid Forget the HGUC, the current pictures of the MG RX-78-2 Origin looks awesome!
@@TYPEV3 it's inappropriate to say tho when you switch the video from before and after the panel lined, it felt orgasmically good 😂
Could you do a tutorial on weathering? All your kits look so sick
Awesome review as always. I hope to see the tryon 3 or gundam the end on your channel
And now we will perform extreme balance with this decal sheet... Hoodini
Loving all these reviews!
+VenomX876 I'm not.
Well being cheap and quick to assemble is really nice for the Zaku II makes it possible and armee
I got this kit last year but wasn't able to finish it because I had lost one of the polycaps
Although this vid is old my interest in gundam is new. I appreciate ur insight, so now I’ll look at the rg to see if the hg is good enough and maybe have the nerve to do some battle damage since the hg it’s less expensive. Thnx again. Leo
This looks cool. Don't have any Zaku kits yet but I think I'll start with this one.
I just got mine. They changed a few things here and there like packaging and the sticker sheet is all one sheet now. I love this kit and I'm in the middle of it now. I used a pink eye marker instead of the sticker but I might just clean it and use it anyway.
as always love the paint job
I have this zaku and I love it. This is my favorite out of all the zakus I have in my collection
When I look at this kit I see it painted in the green zaku grunt colors. Never been a fan of the Char colors on it. Ermahgerd another one! Love your reviews man!
I have the reason I picked that over the RG. The red comet, is RED. Usually the original Char kits are too pink for me
Makes ya wonder if they might release the repainted standard green version, I know I'd love to own it since char's zaku isnt my favorite, If not guess its time to break out the paint :/
they have
and its 2 bucks more expensive
yeah I'm getting this kit for sure
I got my Origin Char's Zaku II at a department and it was already assembled. Therefore, I didn't know that it has toe joints and that seperate waist joint. What a surprise! By the way, I like the Origin version more than the RG version for its darker tone of red. It just work for me.
You bought it assembled? Doesn't that take the fun out of a model kit?
+aznable1000 Yeah. Why would YOU buy an assembled kit. They are called model kits for a reason.
Looks like this will be a good first zaku (my shelf is currently full of gundams!)
Could you put the link on Amazon of this gunpla please?
You should build the hg gadessa if you haven't already just randomly picked it up and it's a super fun build and the color scheme is rad except a few of the stickers it's solid
I like that metallic gunmetal paint on the weapons. Mind telling me what you use there?
2:18 I wonder if you can make a more refined version of the Zaku Amazing using this kit's body instead and parts from the Amazing? Your review of the Zaku Amazing said it was kinda meh, but this is quite an advancement in Zaku model design.
Your models look great.

For example the Gunpla Evolution Project HG Zeta Gundam should have taken hints from the Origin line in terms of detail and colour separation.
I hope they make MG Zaku Origin too.
+Witch King There should be something that would go with the MG Gundam The Origin you know.
Joeie Rivera Hello, yes I think I read something about another MG Zaku coming out this year (Thunderbolt) and another red Zaku Origin (Not sure).
Witch King The ones coming this year are from the Gundam Thunderbolt series. The Red Zaku is the Zaku II High Mobility Type (Reuse P-Device)
I don't know when they will release this beauty... Probably after they release the new Zakus since they will have a new frame to base it with.
Joeie Rivera Thank you for the updates! Wow I still haven't finish with this kit and MG will come out! Will wait for it!
Very nice but I have to suggest trying the Bugu over this. The eye moves on it's own! Great paint job by the way.
dude awesome review, thanks. I love this model.
Btw greetings from chile.
origin zaku: "I am the most poseable zaku"
HGUC zaku revive: hold my Aznable
Can you start a series of all the steps you take to detail your gundam
As well as painting
+Carterary W ...No.
dat char kick XD
I generally don't like RG kits due to the sheer amount of parts leading to a great number of things that can go wrong. I was given the RG RX-78, and, to be frank, I hate it. Pieces are constantly falling off, things are always moving when they shouldn't, and I feel its visually too busy.

Your not the only one, RGs aren't perfect but you have to at least appreciate its novelty and its visual impact for a 1/144 kit
Luis Builder 16
Oh definitely! Its an engineering marvel! It just makes posing infuriating with all the things that can fall off!
+supergeno128ds trust me,posing my aile strike was a pain
Awesome Review! Can u make a little tutorial to add the detailing?
sold, I'll get this kit tomorrow
Are you gonna review the Freedom Revive?? Im curious if it is compatible with the METEOR unit like the RGs.
Hello I am really interested in what paint you use to paint Zaku II, such as the metalic looking parts.
So I noticed you made the kit a bit more of a magenta red...if I may, what colors did you use? I'm interested in recreating that amazing color.
I'm thinking about getting this kit, just wanted to know what stand u used for it
instead of getting the revived version of the RX 78-2 gundam how about if you just wait for it's origin version it should pretty much have all the gimmick that revived version have and much more, or at least that's what i think
Nice review. I'm considering getting this although I haven't seen Origins yet. I was wondering when you're going to the review of Gundam the End.
+Gundamninja7 Never. Now let that be the end of it.
Can I ask what colors did you use to paint the kit? I think yours looks great!! I'm planning to paint my RG zaku char cusom
How did you get that metallic effect on the black parts like the chest and bottom of the feet and hands? VERY INTERESTED PLEASE snapping mine now I have to know!
How did you do the weathering effect on the kit? it looks awesome
7:41 “Nothing hugely crucial is missing”
Ehhhhh... the Zaku machine gun?
(Ik they included it in the newest version but i don’t get what they were thinking back then)
I wonder if I can add the Zaku Amazing's weapons/parts to the Zaku high mobility Origin ver. . . .
I luv that he's making so many videos ^_^ wahoo
The eye of the Zaku is pretty neat
+1
Can I please know the paint name that you used on the torso and weapon accesories?
Boi please so obvious! Ani obviously cannot wait!
+DuoPersona101 That's not english.
type v3 i like yun yun detailings in this saku what you use paint or gundam maker and also how do you do this saku?
I brought a rx 78 and a zaku II for my first builds
can we combine this with the hg amazing booster to create a zaku amazing origin?
im pretty happy when after asemble this kit!!
CN you tell me which color do you use for weathering and for the weapon?
Did you weather the red parts or did you paint them?
What paint did you use on the black parts?
There's a Char Aznable version and a Red Comet version of this kit anybody know what the differences are?
Should I get this kit? I'm new to gundam but I really like zaku's so is it worth buying?
I don't know. What did this review tell you?
did you have try Amazing Zaku custom part, to Zaku II origin? can you review to? 0w0
Did you paint this zaku ii and the rx78-2 revive? If so, what brandof paint did you use? :)
I wish mine felt as solid as yours looks, I love the Zaku II, but mine feels like it's about to fall apart, and it discourages me from going into further detail with it.
ive watched ur videos before and i would love to know what paint and or shading ur using for the black in the inner frame and chest in this zaku and the weapons and missle pods in meijin kawaguchi's zaku (the weapons and stuff.) its rly nice!!
i think its gunmetal spraypaint
Right now I'm building my zaku 2
Can you attach the Amazing Booster to this kit?
Hey typev3 can you do a review of gundam thunderbolt?
It was a nice kit. The only bad part is the placing of parts in the runners you could potential having bad nub marks.
is this HG kit is way better than the RG kit of char's Zaku
please review rg zaku ii char too..
The only issue I have with this kit is that it doesn't include the standard zaku machine gun, but that's okay because I already have other zakus to remedy that, but other than that it's a great kit
+Animaster Wat.How could they do that?You can't forget a Zaku's machinegun lol
+Hiruko Kagetane It's based off of the first ORIGIN OVA and Char never used a machine gun. But really, why have a Machine-gun when this kit has the Anti-Ship Rifle?
***** Well,it would've been really nice to have it as an extra. They did give the Zaku Amazing the machinegun, bazooka and all that.So I don't think there's any excuse not to include them even if it wasn't used in the show.(I'm looking at you Amazing Red Warrior)
+Hiruko Kagetane the amazing zaku included with machinegun, bazooka, etc because its using same runner like high mobility type zaku
If you want a machinegun, you should buy the HG ORIGIN 1/144 Zaku II High Mobility Type (BLACK-STARS USE), and it should be out this September.
It has a Giant Heat Hawk, Standard Heat Hawk, and Machinegun.
I don't know if I should get this guy or the hguc one
Once from the origin which is one of my fav series and the other one doesn't have any poly caps so am at a lost here
can the anti ship rifle store on the back pack?
Please do the Origin Black Tri Star Zaku IIs. I know they are practically the same but Ortega needs some love, especially with DAT AXE
Hey V3, I'm just curious and this just occurred to me. Can you attach the Zaku Amazing parts on this particular Zaku?
waiting on this to come in the mail 24 days
grinding my teeth whenever I see seamlines that aren't covered
What kind of paint do you use it looks great.
+Panagiotis Skartsilas The kind that sticks to plastic.
+TYPE V3 ha yeah that seems to work good to know you don't have to go all out to get great results
Is this included with base?
That foreshadowing tho lol
how tall is the zaku 2
Is this one better than the rg?
sir.. what kind of painting do you use to make the bazookas look like metal.. air brush or etc? thanks for the reply if ever :)
+Reginald Almazan Tamiya Gunmetal
Ahm.. sir.. is it hand painted or sprayed? (Spray can or air brush?) thank you sir for the reply :)
