It's not character switch. Having dual accent is like being bilingual. You switch it off and on depending on where you are at. You have to understand this about immigrants who migrated to somewhere when they were teenagers or young adults. You acquire or develop a different accent, like learning a new language. It's not fake.

It's dual accent like acquiring a new language. The African accent, he acquired from his home and childhood in Africa. That's his default accent. He acquired a new one when he moved to America but that doesn't mean he magically lost his original accent. It is called code switching. It's like learning a new language or being bilingual.
