The problem that you have, Muta, is the same one we have (US) ... The average voter DOES NOT CARE about facts or reality. It's depressing how many people refuse to discuss politics because they are genuinely concerned that the basis for their view point will turn out to be much less reliable if not outright false. The education system is a massive failure, and the media made sure of it. (Can't even talk to my own mother about it because I'm independent and educated and every time she points out something, I ask her for a source so we can analyze it and figure out what is actually going on. She stopped talking about it because she couldn't ever give me a source to discuss... it's always what she's been told.)

the disclaimer at 3:50 that the only people who arent affected by the tarriffs are the super wealthy should be the first point in every discussion right now.
Well actually, many very wealthy people have production done in China. The reason Trump is dong this is because he believes the tariffs will allow American companies to compete with the slave labor of China. This means more production comes back to america and China, who is absolutely an adversary, will have less power over the American economic system.

As long as it’s respectful then sure, but majority of people have the “it’s my way or the highway” mentality in politics. Why would I get involved with people like that? No thanks.
I disagree. The reason we're in the mess that we are is due to the surplus of uninformed and biased commentary. The echo chambers created by the far left and far right groups over power the voice of reason now. Instead of watching a 3-4hr press conference most people have opted to watch short edited commentaries on these things. We let these people clip out of context portions and frame a person's beliefs to be far off from what they truly are. And MOST people aren't informed or even willing to watch the original full piece. Now we have people who run around on LEGIT news stations and spread bs that has no basis when 30 seconds more or less of a clip is shown. And this bs isn't specific to one side. This channel is one of the few who do not act as tho what they are saying is cold hard fact unless he has the actual data. Personally I think more people should stfu.

Yes. People think it's simple but it's not. Factors like other countries come into play for example. Perhaps even new allies which is something nobody considers. For example. If we tarriff them thus making our imports more expensive, it means we buy less from them and more from other people. For some reason people think a 25% tarriff means the consumer has to pay 25% more. No. That's not the case unless they are the only producers and we have nowhere else to buy from.
Those were targeted and not broad sweeping tariffs on entire continents. I'll be honest. I've tried to omit politics for as long as possible. It is genuinely bad for everyone's mental health and listening to people that are dumb as a rock just raises your chance of a aneurysm. I swear, politicians are just insane. Not in a good way, like clinically; they omit logic every way possible. That being said I'm from one of the worst European countries and YOU HAVE to get involved in politics. Why? Because the most politically active people are people that lack half a brain and people that have nothing else do to and are super hateful towards other views. This basically means that if you are passive you allow these people to elect people in power. So ever day you are forced to do something that is bad for you just because if you don't fight for a better country it will go down the drain and you'll be stuck here. The great example of how tiring politics can be is the orange baby man (and you see what happens when you allow dumb people to make decisions for you and others are too passive to go to vote). I vehemently hate politics and how we elect based on money and charisma instead of intelligence and logic.
Peeps, I know it sucks, but fight for your rights, if anything, fight so your country doesn't get even worse and for the love of all that's holy support other people's causes as well if they can improve someone's life. Don't be petty that you don't get to use those opportunities or how it doesn't matter since you aren't part of xyz that needs that cause. not the first criminal president we’ve had, but definitely the first felon ☠️
As a Canadian its okay you don't need to apologize at all, everythings gonna be okay for both our nations. This is only a blip in our history & we've gone through worse.
Also Canada has been getting weaker & weaker as a country anyways, I'm hopefully that a little struggle will help us focus on being more economically prosperous in the long-run & that this well needed hardship will make us stronger. Hopefully it'll force our government to cut taxes, loosen business regulations, build pipelines across Quebec so we can sell oil & liquefied natural gas to our allies in Europe & other measures that will make Canada more resilient.
To me, this doesn't change anything about my view of Americans, I still hold them in high regard. I'm a little disappointed in Trump not being more cooperative with his allies, like coming out threats first as Taiwan is just useless. He could have said in private to their Prime Minister "we want a cutting edge chips factory or else they'll be tariffs" before harming relations in public. In that situation, what hes asking for is reasonable, but he could have accomplished it in a much more respectful way.

The first time he was in office and imposed tariffs the prices of certain goods went up initially, but the prices started going down. It’s too early to tell what’s going to happen. I hope this all works out in the end.
Plus those targeted tariffs bankrupted some soy farmers in the U.S. because China just turned to Brazil to import the beans instead. There was no replacing the giant soy demand from such a large country like China. Smaller farmers go under and the big Ag corps move in and buy them out on the cheap.
You focusing only on the price leaves you in the dark on the full impact.
@rve420 I really don't care as long as prices go down. During Trump's first presidency, everything was cheaper and I had more disposable income. He had tariffs then too. Ofc this is a different situation, but I think people should wait to give a final opinion.
