Hi Glenn, I watched this without cheating and looking at the comments and actually guessed what it was! You won't regret it mate! Cool you got such a bargain. I agree the body looks great just as it is! Call it fate! Welcome to the Lunchbox Club! :D
Welcome to the cw01 club Glenn! Every RC hobbyist needs one of these in their life! They are clumsy ,bouncy , top heavy , slow , and have an awful turning radius..... They spend most of their life either with the front wheels in the air,or on their roof! But,they are probably the most fun you will ever have with an rc..... Every time you take it out you will be grinning from ear to ear. 😊 There's two essential upgrades needed.... The body posts will snap instantly, upgrade them to metal ones straight away. Also I would highly recommend putting a torque tuned motor in there, this is the perfect motor for one of these. The cw01 midnight pumpkin was my first ever hobby grade rc back in 1988.....i still have it to this day. We also own 4 or 5 lunchies on the Green Hawks fleet. Get a pack of lunches together and it's a total blast. Can't believe the cheak of some people..... But great result for you. I'm also shocked how anyone could screw up what is probably one of the easiest Tamiyas to paint, especially with Tamiya paints as they are pretty much fool proof. 🙄 As for the body..... The options are endless mate, also sticker licker do an extensive range of wraps for them. The only problem is they look so cool after putting loads of time and effort into them..... It's soull destroying when you roll them on their maiden voyage, and trust me,you will roll it multiple times! Perhaps keep the patchy one for running, and then make a second custom body for the shelf. Enjoy. 😊 👍 👍 👍
@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC clumsy and bouncy you say, sounds like me! 🤣🤣 I'll look in to different body mounts when it nears the top of the build list plus i have several Torque Tuned motors here too so will bear that in minds when its running. 😜 Cheers
It was meant to be! LOL! The Lunch Box is such a fun one to drive and enjoy it for the silly thing it is. Build it up and tumble it around! I am kind of with you on the body, maybe sponge paint some rust and grunge on it and then seal it all in with some matte clear and you'll have a wonderful looking crunch box!! LOL!
He he, cool you're wearing an Addam's Playground t-shirt, and getting that RC on the channel! It's a fun vehicle, you will be happy with it! Yeah, that was a funny story, happy you got this! Must have been a child who tried to build it or something... The body looks like one of those ice cream sticks that has vanilla ice cream on the inside and mango outside, and someone has licked it... It looks cool, but I would probably give it an extra couple coats of the yellow... Fun story, have fun with it, dude!
@@madsrcbuggy Now theres something I havent had in years! Now craving Mango haha!! They do look fun so can't wait to have it running but others will be done first though
Good score, mate. We have a runner Lunchy but I need another to do boxart for the shelf. With a few simple mods, they're actually not that bad to drive and loads of fun! Enjoy, Chris.
@@TamiyaTalkRC thanks Chris. Surprised I havent had one before as had a Clod and Monster Beetle when younger. Will look into mods for it when its due to be built .. thanks again
That's crazy! Well it's pretty cool you've been able to get your hands on one. It's such a great kit and that body just looks killer on the chassis. I'm surprised Tamiya hasn't used the van body on any of their other kits...it's one of the best looking body's they've every produced. So much you can do with it too! If the gold one ever comes out again I think I'll have to get it!! :) Welcome to the Lunchbox club! As to what colour...that's a tough one. For me I had to go box art as it was in the first RCCA magazine that I bought and the lunchbox had just come out so the magazine was doing a review on it. I got the Blackfoot instead but I read and looked at the photos in that magazine forever. So when I finally picked one up I just had to have it look the way I remembered it.
@@FastFreddyRC it is a great looking body yeah, and heard they fit on M-chassis quite well.... hmmmmmm!! See, the Blackfoot, another that hasn't been on my radar. The Monster Beetle has and will be in the collection again at some point.....
Yes, great purchase. Welcome to the LB owner club. Yupp, leave it. The car will turn and roll over (see my intros), but it's fun. So much fun. I have a running body, too. And before you get to the idea, a spare body with all the windows and chrome parts is not economical. A complete kit would be the better choise.
Mmmh, I'm not into this kit, but my daughter likes to perform wheelies, so one day maybe. Good for you to have it as a bargain ✌ As for the livery, the distress one looks good 👍
Can you demand a refund if you have half built something? I’m surprised that’s a thing. Anyway, go box art, get a Torque Tuned motor that’s all it needs and run it! It will be come one of your new favourites guaranteed 👍
