For Angie and Gavin... I think you guys are missing an opportunity here to create an online shop... if you think it's a hassle to keep the shop stocked you can always do made to order or just buy 50 -100 pieces at wholesale, and if it's easy to get more get it but if you can't at least some of us in the other countries can enjoy what you're recommending and at the same time can support the artist or craftsmen... or at the very least include links and FB/ IG pages so we can contact them...just some food for thought...
If I was a Billionaire I'd go and support places like this. Like the last manually published books in the US, the last ancient papermaker in Egypt, the last ancient porcelain/figurine maker in India(?), etc. I'd give them money enough to support them for a couple decades. This is my lifelong dream together with saving stray dogs.
Oh no. It's heartbreaking to hear about this Master-Skilled Mahjong Artisan being evicted in HK. I remembered the earlier docu-segment that Goldthread did on him during happier times. I feel like crying. 😢

If he’s able to take on an apprentice soon and expand online he would maybe pass on his legacy but I don’t like the fact he’s getting served eviction notices. What is happening with the government 👺

From the last post on the shop's facebook page, at end of Oct, it seems like the building owner is working with the government to try and make that addition to the building legal. For now, it looks like he is still able to remain in the space until they can get the issue resolved.

Good news!!! Biu Kee has been allowed to keep running their business at the same location after renovation🎉
LETS GOOO
Appreciate the update!
I want to support him! Is there anyway I can order a full & complete set from him???

Thank you for covering so many stories about hand-made artisans at risk of disappearing. Bamboo steams, mahjong tiles, such a shame.
These people deserve respect

Uncle Cheung deserves to be given a 10 yr lease by the gov't ... if he continues to work.
I want to get a set from him....what an original piece of craftsmanship
It is kinda sad to see this...
I really want to collect those
I hope he opens an Etsy store or its own website!!
What would you like to say to Uncle Cheung?
Please sell online either way! I would love to buy a set but I live in Australia!!

Jia you, Uncle Cheung. You can try online selling. 🙏🙏
I would love to own one of his sets. If he ever gets help with an online store, there's so many customers willing to buy.
I may not live in HK but how do I get in touch with him? I wanna commission him to get a custom Mahjong set!!!
The shop has a facebook page where you can contact him.

Good job because I dont know how to play mahjong..
Wait. Is Jordan Street in Cantonese actually “In The Way?”
The name Jordan is phonetically transcribed in Cantonese to that phrase.
That would be hilarious if it was
This concern was addressed by H.K government.
While sad, I thought the deadline was back in early November?

Why is he getting evicted?
Mahjong is replaced with playing cards.
The CCP is an evil entity. This man, his shop, is a treasure! Absolutely stunning!
