For Angie and Gavin... I think you guys are missing an opportunity here to create an online shop... if you think it's a hassle to keep the shop stocked you can always do made to order or just buy 50 -100 pieces at wholesale, and if it's easy to get more get it but if you can't at least some of us in the other countries can enjoy what you're recommending and at the same time can support the artist or craftsmen... or at the very least include links and FB/ IG pages so we can contact them...just some food for thought...

Thank you for covering so many stories about hand-made artisans at risk of disappearing. Bamboo steams, mahjong tiles, such a shame.

If I was a Billionaire I'd go and support places like this. Like the last manually published books in the US, the last ancient papermaker in Egypt, the last ancient porcelain/figurine maker in India(?), etc. I'd give them money enough to support them for a couple decades. This is my lifelong dream together with saving stray dogs.

Oh no. It's heartbreaking to hear about this Master-Skilled Mahjong Artisan being evicted in HK. I remembered the earlier docu-segment that Goldthread did on him during happier times. I feel like crying. 😢

Work from home or a small office upstairs, rent will be cheaper and with word of mouth we can all help his business stay alive... and selling online us oversea Chinese can help too without having to be in HK. So many Chinese would be honoured to own a handmade marjorng...

If he’s able to take on an apprentice soon and expand online he would maybe pass on his legacy but I don’t like the fact he’s getting served eviction notices. What is happening with the government 👺

From the last post on the shop's facebook page, at end of Oct, it seems like the building owner is working with the government to try and make that addition to the building legal. For now, it looks like he is still able to remain in the space until they can get the issue resolved.

You may wish to ruminate on these two quotes: one who uses profane language has an uncultivated mind, and cannot express cogent thoughts, therefore is taken un seriously.
One who cannot speak well, does not think well, and will end up with others doing his thinking for him.
And, as far as the CCP is concerned, might want to blow the dust off of the book Bloody Harvest and read up on their organ harvesting from their imprisoned political dissidents. You may also like looking up the videos on how they have welded apartment building doors shut to stop the spread of Covid. The fentanyl coming into the us from China is great too. These acts are done by the CCP to which you seem purblind.
