I'm so happy for your family! Why has anyone had issues with your move is crazy! It took us a year to find the right place to build. Where we are now was one of the first properties we saw, and I didn't feel it. We continued looking at properties and houses, and a couple of offers fell through. After a year of looking we came back to the property in PG and it felt like home! We have now been here 24 years, but there were times I felt we should have moved, but we just couldn't find anything that felt right! When you know you know and that is all that matters! Live your best lives and enjoy all that you can! I think it's awesome!

The bathrooms my favorite. Building a house is fun. I did it a few years ago and i had kept ideas and photos from my past places, rentals, houses, friends kitchens and baths esp. The next time you guys move, or add on, or whatever now you know some good sources. The second for me is the kiddie house. Once I changed my son's walk in closet to have a sliding foam core door from above, it became a secret playroom, another time I changed a wall crawl space that was 3 feet from the ground, into a space capsule, complete with program boards and reflective windows. Just keep having fun and enjoying life with the kids :)

@@jennysaunders4342 Thank you kindly, he had emergency surgery on Tuesday and I spoke to his surgeon yesterday and asked him if I hadn’t gotten him to the doctors on Tuesday and then to hospital, what would of happened and he told both of us that I’d be a Widow by now, he didn’t even want to go to the doctors but I forced him to go because he was having some pain in his side and turned out to be his Gallbladder but no Gallstones, it was infected and leaking into his body and blood stream, I won’t go into the gory details but it was very bad and we still have a Life To Live being married for 46 years. ❤️❤️ he’s my world and best friend forever, I can’t imagine my life without him ever. 😢

The basement did come out amazing! We do do what is best for our family for sure. My daughter asked if we could move back to the west coast from the east. It was hard and miserable driving cross country with a disabled child that took 8 days. I used all my savings, and we are literally broke. But... in just two weeks, I see how the move was the best for her health. Your new house is beautiful.

I was never going to criticize you for moving after barely a year after building a new house, but this basement makes me need to bite my tongue to stop myself from doing it now. OMG! It’s amazing! They do not have to justify themselves to anyone, but I am a social worker who works with impoverished sometimes homeless families due to no fault of their own. Every child I work with would love to have a tiny portion of that space to play in. It would be nice to see you Sarah and Derrick, using some of your internet wealth to maybe help some of the families who don’t have the resources that you have, and can’t display bright and shiny children and places that make for good social media content. I’d love to see a video of you working at a soup kitchen or another worthy cause teaching Sunny and Jack that not everyone can go on vacation, have a media room or even put food on their table every night. I wonder how many mouths you could feed with what one month in Hawaii costs. I love that you are able to do these things with your kids but maybe showing them how other less fortunate kids live would also be a lasting valuable lesson. Good luck in your new home. Hi! Im a long time fan and have been following you both for a few years. Looking at your life objectively, I think the reason why people may be angry is because of the lack of acknowledgment of how privileged this decision is. Most people do not have the time, resources or money to custom build a home and then move because they had “feelings” for a different home. I think a lot of your fans like you both because of your relatability and how authentic and genuine you both are. However, when influencers make choices that show case their exorbitant wealth and/or privilege it doesn’t feel relatable or down to earth to fans. That being said, you don’t owe anyone an explanation for the choices you make for your family and I’m glad that you both are making decisions that makes sense for your lives off camera. I hope you both continue to give fans the privilege of seeing into your lives and congratulations on the new home!

I never said that Derek and Sarah didn’t work hard. Im sure they put in a lot of work with creating content, taking care of their family, and creating a sustainable business model. I also think that most people don’t have the privilege of moving to a multiple homes and people are often stuck with what they can afford. I think most fans of Sarah and Derek are viewers like me who love them because they feel relatable and could our friend. Them making such a big move after another big move from Hawaii made them less relatable, especially since in previous videos they weren’t able to provide context on why they were making the move (which again, they don’t owe people an explanation). I did find it helpful when Sarah and Derek mentioned wanting to be closer to family as I think a lot of people move for that reason too. My comment was to bring no shame or judgement to Sarah and Derek, and I fully recognize my opinion (or yours) doesn’t matter in their life. In the video they asked why people were making such a big deal about their move and I wanted to answer because I’m a fan.

And Derek survived the most horrendous accident of all, did not have an easy life and definitely had to overcome barriers to enjoy his life today. My husband and myself came from lower income families and worked hard to have all the things we have, including two homes. Privilege had nothing to do with it. That word is so overused today.

I agree that Derek absolutely had to work incredibly hard to regain his physical, mental and emotional strength after his fall and again with his multiple surgeries. He unfortunately is not privileged when it comes to his physical health, and has to work much harder than able bodied people to do the same amount of physical work. It takes a lot of work to own a home, and depending on who you are in America it can be harder to buy and sell homes at the frequency they seem to be doing so. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like you’re coming from a place of kindness when you reply back to me so this will be my last comment to you. @@jennysaunders4342 Thank you kindly, he had emergency surgery on Tuesday and I spoke to his surgeon yesterday and asked him if I hadn’t gotten him to the doctors on Tuesday and then to hospital, what would of happened and he told both of us that I’d be a Widow by now, he didn’t even want to go to the doctors but I forced him to go because he was having some pain in his side and turned out to be his Gallbladder but no Gallstones, it was infected and leaking into his body and blood stream, I won’t go into the gory details but it was very bad and we still have a Life To Live being married for 46 years. ❤️❤️ he’s my world and best friend forever, I can’t imagine my life without him ever. 😢

The basement did come out amazing! We do do what is best for our family for sure. My daughter asked if we could move back to the west coast from the east. It was hard and miserable driving cross country with a disabled child that took 8 days. I used all my savings, and we are literally broke. But... in just two weeks, I see how the move was the best for her health. Your new house is beautiful.

They do not have to justify themselves to anyone, but I am a social worker who works with impoverished sometimes homeless families due to no fault of their own. Every child I work with would love to have a tiny portion of that space to play in. It would be nice to see you Sarah and Derrick, using some of your internet wealth to maybe help some of the families who don’t have the resources that you have, and can’t display bright and shiny children and places that make for good social media content. I’d love to see a video of you working at a soup kitchen or another worthy cause teaching Sunny and Jack that not everyone can go on vacation, have a media room or even put food on their table every night. I wonder how many mouths you could feed with what one month in Hawaii costs. I love that you are able to do these things with your kids but maybe showing them how other less fortunate kids live would also be a lasting valuable lesson.

Hi! Im a long time fan and have been following you both for a few years. Looking at your life objectively, I think the reason why people may be angry is because of the lack of acknowledgment of how privileged this decision is. Most people do not have the time, resources or money to custom build a home and then move because they had “feelings” for a different home. I think a lot of your fans like you both because of your relatability and how authentic and genuine you both are. However, when influencers make choices that show case their exorbitant wealth and/or privilege it doesn’t feel relatable or down to earth to fans.
That being said, you don’t owe anyone an explanation for the choices you make for your family and I’m glad that you both are making decisions that makes sense for your lives off camera. I hope you both continue to give fans the privilege of seeing into your lives and congratulations on the new home!

@@LaurainFlorida Hi, thanks for your reply. I think privilege is the lack of barriers when accessing resources and opportunities that people have a right to. I never said that Derek and Sarah didn’t work hard. Im sure they put in a lot of work with creating content, taking care of their family, and creating a sustainable business model. I also think that most people don’t have the privilege of moving to a multiple homes and people are often stuck with what they can afford. I think most fans of Sarah and Derek are viewers like me who love them because they feel relatable and could our friend. Them making such a big move after another big move from Hawaii made them less relatable, especially since in previous videos they weren’t able to provide context on why they were making the move (which again, they don’t owe people an explanation). I did find it helpful when Sarah and Derek mentioned wanting to be closer to family as I think a lot of people move for that reason too.
My comment was to bring no shame or judgement to Sarah and Derek, and I fully recognize my opinion (or yours) doesn’t matter in their life. In the video they asked why people were making such a big deal
about their move and I wanted to answer because I’m a fan.
@@mylinhtran4648 but you’re contradicting yourself. They still absolutely work hard for what they have which may have removed any barriers. And Derek survived the most horrendous accident of all, did not have an easy life and definitely had to overcome barriers to enjoy his life today. My husband and myself came from lower income families and worked hard to have all the things we have, including two homes. Privilege had nothing to do with it. That word is so overused today.
@@LaurainFlorida hi, thanks for your reply. Privilege doesn’t mean that people don’t work hard, it means that there are less barriers to accessing resources and opportunities. I agree that Derek absolutely had to work incredibly hard to regain his physical, mental and emotional strength after his fall and again with his multiple surgeries. He unfortunately is not privileged when it comes to his physical health, and has to work much harder than able bodied people to do the same amount of physical work. It takes a lot of work to own a home, and depending on who you are in America it can be harder to buy and sell homes at the frequency they seem to be doing so.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like you’re coming from a place of kindness when you reply back to me so this will be my last comment to you. I hope you find what you’re looking for in the comment section.
