Everyone is talking about Dove but how about we talk about the fact that Jennifer Nettles is a country singer doing a musical. That's truly amazing. Jennifer Nettles is such a dream.
Can I just ask why people always feel the need to compare movie performances to live performances? Movies get as many takes as they want and sing along to a backing track and live your singing and dancing with out looking or sounding out of breath . Just enjoy the performance weather it's the movie or stage
Yall its not supposed to be a perfect match to the movie. They also alter costumes to flatter the performers. The person directing/producing this decides on the look of the costumes.

I love this! Jennifer Nettles is one of my country idols! Just seeing her in one of my favorite musicals is just bone chilling. Now seeing/listening to her sing one of my favorites songs from the show was amazing! Everyone is praising Dove, but the real star in this performance is Jennifer.
Both are super talented but Donna will always be Myrle Streep and Sophie will always be Amanda Syfried. Don’t get me wrong, both of those ladies are talented but no one can play Donna and Sophie like Myrle and Amanda.

Plus it's so hard to let all your voice out especially if you're performing with a huge crowd... trust me it's not easy to sing but she did all that- just wow ☹︎♡︎ and yea I know she's a singer and all that but the fact that she can sing like that in a play!-- 😭💗

Maybe being a single mother of an only child myself has something to do with. No matter that I have a son, but it's so true. He is 21 years old now and you wonder how time has slipped away so quickly. But to quote the movie, I wouldn't have it any other way. Not to toot my own horn, but he is such a good kid. My mom took me to see #2 and she was crying at the end when Sophie is holding her baby and Dona's spirit is there😭 I was crying when I saw my mom crying😭
Dove has the face of a doll she is really perfect in everyway, she is talented, a great actress, amazing singer, in descendants she didn’t dance and did an amazing job The only thing I wish is that fame doesnt overcome her and becomes a horrible person she appears to be really nice and she treats her fans good

y’all are hating on the sets and costumes but keep in mind this is hollywood bowl and they didn’t have much time to put together broadway style stuff. so sorry if this doesn’t meet your expectations because they obviously worked pretty hard. if it doesn’t meet what you were hoping for then why are you here exactly?
I love the singing however Dove has hysterical hiccups and it destroys the mood of the moment- no offence. I love Dove’s talent and voice in other projects such as Hairspray Live and Descendants xx
Uh I hope you realize Mamma Mia started as a stage musical, there have been many actresses who play Donna just as well as Meryl. No offence to Meryl, she’s great, but others have done the role very well.
Everyone in the comments are saying how bad the costumes and sets look and that the movie is better, but the movie clearly had wayyyyy more time to prepare for filming. This literally was one take. Granted everything looks different, but let’s just appreciate what we were given.
