As a Disney employee it was... surreal to see that email unceremoniously pop on my computer that Chapek was out. Made for one heck of a night at work. Excellent video as always 😎 Makes me want to finally get off my ass and talk about my own experiences here.
7:20 Context on this joke: The Monsters Inc ride that they’re on in this clip was originally a different ride called Superstar Limo, which had you zoom through Hollywood in a limo and pass by animatronics of various celebrities. However, due to the poorly-timed death of Princess Diana (who died in a speeding limo crash), they had to severely slow down the pace of the ride until it turned into an even worse version of It’s a Small World, and it soon became everyone’s least favorite Disneyland attraction (except for then-CEO Michael Eisner, which is the only reason the revised slower version even launched). A few years later, they rebranded the entire ride as a Monsters Inc. ride, and to save money, just hid most of the celebrity animatronics inside anonymous hazmat suits!
8:44 Yes! My parents love to bring up the time they were walking through the shopping area of New Orleans Square and went right past Dr. Facilier just leaning against a wall in the shadows. They stopped, said “wait a minute”, turned to look, and he gave them the perfect side-eyed glance. It was pitch perfect for the character (or so I’m told, I don’t actually remember this).
Man, that's actaully really cute to have Ant-man holding a mini (normal-sized?) version of A Bug's Land. Reminds me of the Back to the Future tribute on the screens of the Simpsons Ride.
Seeing that bugs land tribute in this video warmed the cold cockles of my heart when I first watched the video. Just a great example of Disney’s attention to detail and love of tributes in the parks.
You and your sister seem like a delightful pair to bump into in the park. Just the sheer amount of enthusiasm and costumes you both had while taking in the sights is definitely something to behold.

The timing of this is impeccable. Also, does performance just run in your family B-mask? Also, I wonder if Iger was waiting for you to release this thing. I dunno, Just seems too coincidental
Performance is a big thing passed down from my parents for sure. Dad was an actor so it kind of became the thing we both got into. And I'll tell you this- my sister called it long before I said a word probably because of those instincts. When Chapek came out onto that screen, awkwardly trying to make conversation to Mickey and making everyone cringe, she turned to me and said 'Oh no way. They won't let that be thing. He's done.' She was right!
alice from alice in wonderland saying happy birthday to me on my 17th birthday is still one of the greatest achievements of my life. doesn’t get realer than this.
You're conclusion is 100% spot on, us creatives simply want to create. We take every opportunity, every shitty situation, to problem solve a weird wacky fun solution. Cause it's all we want to do, we crave and obsess over it. Some of us can't do anything else. The fact the still to this day artists and creatives alike are shafted at every turn is not only a really depressing thing, but a reason why at times we just take whatever we can get lol.
There's something inherently nice to be in a recreation of a world you've seen in a cartoon. Radiator Springs is just cartoony enough and full of character by itself that it's interesting to see what details they elaborate on. The ofrenda dedicated to the dead character (and by extension the actor) was one that's genuinely nice to see
Great video as always; I had to pause at the Doug shot *_and_* at Josh Gad openly admitting his own failures on national TV as for Disney the company, it just frustrates me that they keep holding everyone & every _thing_ to the fire (from the animators to the archivists to the Park actors, not even the big names are out of the fire-fights from what I can see) and it stinks because it keeps talented people from doing their work to the best of their ability at the end of the day. Such is the way of Hollywood these days, I guess. Shame.
