Finally, a photographer who doesn't say they have "tricks and secrets" to photography. I have read many books on different types of photography and not one of them mentions tricks and secrets. That's because they aren't. They are only "tips" and "rules" and both of them are made to be broken given the photographer and the situations the subject is in. I get so sick and tired of reading people posting videos of "tricks and secrets" to photography. Thank you.
Hi Keith, Thank you very much for watching and then taking the time to leave a comment. No secrets and tricks on this channel. I, like most, make plenty of mistake as I go, and I learn from them 😊
Hi chum have to say that natural photography is the perfect way as that is the natural environment for the birds and wildlife all in all a cracker video as usual chum 10/10
Lovely video I enjoy both equally being out and in the garden with the perches depending on weather and how I’m feeling we’re so lucky to have beautiful wildlife on are doorsteps 🙂👍🏻
Hi Richard, always nice to get a shot of something different on a woodland bird shoot see you managed a shot or two of the Marsh Tit but dropping on that Firecrest was a real bonus - pity we couldn't see an edited image of the bird. Personally love the autumnal defused background and allowing for some negative space "studio" set up. Enjoyed the video. 👍
I've never been a lover of autumn, but wow, don't the colourful leaves at this time of year make for great bird images? Much prefer the 'natural' ones in the trees and bushes, as the set up perch was not half as attractive. Great to see the firecrest (as someone has pointed out) and the beautiful marsh tit and coal tit. Wonderfully serene footage, and gorgeous stills - I really enjoyed this whole video, including all the useful hints and tips. I may have to watch the footage all over again! The music was lovely too. One of your best, I think!
Lovely video Rich, the colours with the diffused backgrounds in the Autumnal settings are lovely! Can't beat a mooch around your local patch! Nice work as always. Rich 😀
Nice one Rich, really enjoyed it. If I may make a suggestion, that would be super nice to have the birds (or other observed species) written in your video or when you display your best shots, so everyone can learn new species while watching. It is super useful for birds in particular and I know it helps me a lot. Regarding your question, between photographing birds in setup situation or while walking/hiking, I prefer 100% to shoot while hiking, the shots are for sure less "pro" and more cluttered or chaotic but its more natural for me to shot environmental shots. I still love to watch these amazing shots people get while using setup or perch. Cheers
Hi Rich. Is that he place we went to last December and spent a cold morning wandering about. Great video. Been there a few times this year. Must go again.
It's great to see you back to posting more regularly. What you photographed was not a gold crest but the much rarer and harder to find firecrest. keep em coming.
Nice one Rich, it's interesting to hear you talk more about how you get your images too but equally a good balance of wildlife footage. Look forward to your next one
Good to find your channel, i'm also using a Canon 1D-X MKII, but mostly for model photography, but i did start bird photography a couple of months ago, so finding tips are always helpfull, did you use some birdseed to lure the birds under your bird set-up ? 🙂
It’s a great camera isn’t it! Yep, the reserve has feeders, so I set the perches up near those 😊 Thank you for watching and then taking the time to comment 👍
Nice work. I think my perfect session is shooting whatever is around with a zoom lens in low morning light while walking to a location, then setting up perches and putting a 600mm prime on the tripod for a few hours of set piece work in the best light, then back to the zoom lens and "free styling" it again on the walk back to the car 🙂 Of course, that usually leaves me with thousands of images to cull through when I get home - which I hate doing...
Great video and pictures of the woodland birds. I'm glad the nuthatch appeared for you! 😊 I feel that my work is the opposite of yours, with no end of bird images and not a lot of mammals 😅

@@mywildlifeimages That was my immediate response as well! Firecrest! Amazing birds (and bloody difficult to see) and great pic😀

You had me at Coal Tit. My favourite bird (which has caused disturbance in the Brandon household). Amazing cheeky chappies darting around.
One of my favourites too! Lovely little birds 😊

@@mywildlifeimages that's awesome to hear that, there's so many different sizes and colours I think that's what has attracted me to them the most 🙂
That Goldcrest, looks like a Firecrest to me. Liked the channel though
Yep, always learning 😂
Thanks for watching 👍
Great video, but it's not a goldcrest, it's a firecrest!! nice one.
