It's weird that roundabout and twist up are labelled with "average damage" even though they both do a noticeable amount more damage than peashooter.
To be fair, peashooter fires faster than those two weapons, so the dps winds up being similar among all the weapons across a normal match.
I think roundabout is somewhat bad. I think he is wrong.
@@adumbfurry7036 It's literally a better peashooter. Extra damage (look it up it does more damage) and way easier to hit.
@@tylazermk8271 I don’t like roundabout but that’s not to say it’s a bad weapon it’s just not as fun as some of the other weapons
@@adumbfurry7036 name checks out
Interesting fact about crackshots EX ability: you can parry into it, which causes it to auto home in onto an enemy like a heat seeking missile. Gives it more versatility than letting it passively aim small shots at enemies, or trying to close in the shot.
What you can do with that is let it fire turret bullets for a few seconds, and then parry it into an enemy for maximum damage
It also counts as a parry for the Heart Ring so you can get extra health for free.
if u cast another ex while the turret is still active it will launch the current turret automatically without need of parry
The name tho
They also do that while you shoot a new one when it didnt vanish yet
i do think its worth mentioning that u can use 2 guns in each battle, so some guns are only good in certain situations, but they are very good when supplemented with another
Lobber, spread, converge, and chaser are great examples of this.
@@tylazermk8271 with new crackshot i dont think you'll ever need chaser in your life
@@AGSTER Chaser: "Who are you?"
Crackshot: "I'm you, only better."
@@gengarguy8801 Crackshot misses small moving targets.
@@tylazermk8271 don’t matter as then there better options like spread and crack shot
Important note with Crackshot's super is that you can Parry it, which both launches it into bosses AND counts for some aspects of parry buffs (unsure if it counts for the score at the end of fights, but it absolutely counts for "gain a heart when you parry" type upgrades).
It does not count for score but you will gain hearts which is op.
Oh damn that’s awesome for the heart ring thing if only it did count for parry at the end would make s ranking a lot easier on some bosses that starve you for parries
@@allanthomson9372 Yep, Mortimer Freeze is annoying af in that regard...
@@343Films mortimer freeze is annoying af in general
If it did (score) sally stageplay would be so easy to s rank
I adore roundabout! It literally makes bosses like the ghost train so much easier since you can get rid of annoying obstacles just with keeping projectiles on screen
Yeah let's make roundabout superiority group
Relax kid, it's just a weapon
@@mihaimercenarul7467 :(
If you didn't use roundabout for ghost train then you were doing the boss wrong
@@mihaimercenarul7467 he just said he liked the roundabout tho
Chaser was actually pretty decent before the DLC released, since Crackshot is not only one of the best weapons in the game, it scan also auto-aim with much better damage.
I find Chaos Orbit to be very useful when there are minions involved, as it gives you a little extra protection against them. Very useful for Expert Cagney Carnation.
That’s funny because Expert Cagney is a joke with Chalice, took me like four tries to get an S rank
@@DrGandW Ayep, Chalice's dash parry+Crack shot basically make all of Cagney's minions useless. The dash parry makes the pink seed easy as hell to destroy before it plants and crackshot just destroys everything else. Then you burn the flower with charged shot
always thought roundabout was just better. You also dont need to aim and damage 10x beter
@@alwaysjarron6260 you do need to aim tho if you want to hit the boss quicker
Spread will forever be my favorite one. I’m a fan of the videogame trope where a weapon excels at half things and is shit at the other half, and spread is exactly that.
Same, when spread is good, like in hordes or in close range, it’s really good. When it’s bad, like in long range or distance aiming, it’s garbage.
Same crack shooter chaser and spreader are my favourite bc IT DOES SO MUCH DAMAGE TO TARGETS
one thing you forgot to mention was that converge pierces enemies, which is amazing for large crowds. it was super useful for the DLC with all the enemies everywhere. so i would bump it up a spot or two
You could also argue that the rankings would be different if he used a DLC boss instead of Sally. When you think about it, these weapons were built for the DLC. Twist Up is great for Flying Aces, Glumstone, and Frost Wizard (forgot his name). Converge is great for Moonshine Mob and clearing mobs on Glumstone.
I think Sunburn did the right thing with his research and picking Sally. It would just a completely different list I think if a different boss was picked.

"The base attack shoots a 3-pronged piercing bolt at your enemies which is decent for crowd control"
oop thanks i missed that haha. but yeah still didn’t really talk about the crowd control for it, but at the end of the day still just my opinion
If you use if for the 2 frogs it will do double damage
Meeeh every use case I found for Converge was just times Crackshot would have done the job with me having to think less
“Sallys 4th phase with lobber makes me look like a dumbass”
That cracked me up.

“Number 1- roundabout” a man after my own heart
Converge may not be the greatest weapon, but it is incredibly good at clearing the bats in the devil’s 3rd phase, making it much easier, and it can take down his first phase pretty well too
Yeah I tested that on expert mode. Genuinely made the 3rd phase (which is usually the hardest for me) actually kind of easy. The fact that most of the minions die before they can attack makes it to where there is a LOT less crap to avoid, and it damages the Devil at the same time too.
yeah, in general the horde test is S rank for converge, it is so good against them it makes up for other issues.
I beat like 90% of the dlc with it
It’s also really good against the Salt Boss
Converge shreds the train ghost levels, the first phase is a joke with it

How is pea shooter the worst weapon
@@sleepyfishYTDP its not bad its just outclassed by Crackshot and Roundabout
@@sleepyfishYTDP Agreed! In my opinion, Lobber is the most stupid weapon.
@@andreww.1810 Lobber is so dumb when I tried to fight a boss with lobber it never reached the boss
@@Fanc-E-Kitten if anything it's supposed to be better than chaser and converge
Here’s a trick with lobber: If a boss is about to phase transition by popping onto the screen, (beppis 2nd and 4th phase and the root packs onion phase as an example) Stand where they are going to spawn and shoot up. The lobbers will just bounce and keep themselves there, so that all the lobbers can hit at once doing SO much damage. It’s called a lobber trap and it’s super busted when used correctly.
I used that method against the spider in moonshine mob and it was incredibly affective
Lobber trap Masterrace!
came to the comments to say the same thing. Made that phase so easy
I've been saying roundabout is the best weapon since the game came out. And I think twistup is slept on.
It's probably slept on because the game describes it as "medium" damage even though it's clearly a lot more than peashooter.
Twist up is just a lot more situational than other weapons. It’s useless in a lot of fights, like grim matchstick for example. Or Baroness Von Bon Bon depending on which bosses you get and it’s alwaays bad in the last phase. Your never gonna get use out of it in captain brineybeard. And most individual phases of bosses aren’t too kind to it either. I guess that’s why the game lets you use 2 shots
Tbh I can’t do anything with twist up
Aiming up with twist up means it fires along the top of the screen behind you, so if you are going low on matchstick or against phase 1 of briney beard it should actually be great
twist up is the worst weapon for me
Glad to see roundabout being my favorite weapon is being justified. I will say I feel like the test of fighting sally stagehand while good you have to think when actually fighting you have 2 weapons. Obviously using the chaser for an entire boss fight is not a good idea but I’ll often use it for phases where it’s hard to hit the boss and I need to really focus on dodging.
Gonna need to try crack shot since it seems like it’s just gonna be a better chaser. for most of the dlc I used twist up its immediately one of my favorites
do remember that chaser is better on fast moving targets like saltbaker final phase
so glad to see roundabout getting some love, it’s my favourite weapon in the game
After 5 years... this kind of video finally exist
At least now it won't be outdated... i hope.
@@yoshimallow I hope it will. I want more cuphead
I've always used chaser with roundabout, these stats just mean that once I get the DLC just replace chaser with crackshot if I still want a form of tracking round with higher damage
Me too they work good
I think one aspect you haven't covered is how you can switch weapons depending on your needs. Chaser is horrible on its own, but as a complementary weapon it's amazing. Against Sally, for example, I use Spread whenever I can get close to her and Chaser for when I need to evade stuff (and the entire 4th phase because fuck that phase), and she goes down much faster than when using just one weapon exclusively.
My personal weapon ranking (this is before the DLC comes out, haven't played too much with the new weapons yet):
6. Peashooter. Jack of all stats and master of none. Everytime peashooter can be useful, there's at least one other weapon that handle it better. And Roundabout outclasses it in almost every way.
5. Lobber. It's very useful against Grim Matchstick, but only kinda okay in most situations, and downright horrible in the rest.
4. Charge. I'm gonna get crucified for this one, but I find this weapon kind of awkward. Like what the video shows, you need frame-perfect timing to make Charge stronger than most other weapons' continuous fire. I mainly find it useful against hard-to-reach bosses with decent health, like Goopy 3rd form or Captain Brineybeard. For those with less health I just use Chaser for less risk.
3. Spread. Amazing if you can get up close and hit all shots. Unfortunately, it's risky for some and just downright impossible for others. Against bosses where you, though, like Beppi, Werner, and Sally, this weapon just shreds them.
2. Chaser. See the beginning of this post. When you feel like you can't hit a boss with your shot just switch to Chaser for a bit of extra damage. Also by far best weapon for Run n' Gun.
1. Roundabout. Just a really good all-around weapon. Just by shooting backwards you basically eliminate its weakness. Out of the entire non-DLC bosses, the only time Roundabout's drawback actually matters is during Ribby & Croak 3rd phase's frog and bison attack.
Haven't thought much about the new weapons, but Crackshot probably will replace Chaser as number 2. Converge and Twist-up kinda sucks tbh but let's see if I change my mind later.
I really think every weapon has it's place in some bosses, even Peaschooter (for example I find it more comfortable to use it on King Dice minions + Spread than Roundabout + Spread) and that's what I really like about them, none of them is useless
Coverge is actually very powerful and versatile
@@s.a.t.a.n6216 If you didin't try it, fight Phantom Express with it. It makes the first phase a literal joke and it easily destroys flying ghosts and pumpkins
Why is the low skill low damage weapon that has no reason to exist anymore rated higher than charge?
@@Gustavo-po9bd Because I was still new to the DLC weapons and didn't take them i to account. Now that Crackshot exists, Chaser just goes down in the ranks so hard. Also while Charge is a great all-rounder weapon, I don't find many opportunities where it's better than Roundabout.
Lobber is useful on the queen bees last phase.
i can see why cause Rumor Honeybottoms just hangs out on the bottom of the screen which frankly makes her a pain to hit with most other weapons, kinda like with Grim Matchstick during his 2nd and 3rd phases where he's directly behind you
3:00 what about rumor honeybottoms final phase?
Crackshot is like if chaser and lobber had a baby
That is exactly what it is
This whole time I thought roundabout did more damage after they turned around... still one of my favorites alongside converge

Also yes Roundabout slaps. By far best weapon I use personally when I play
I freaking knew roundabout was really good, there's very few bosses I fought without it. Even in the DLC, I always wanted to switch things up, but it was hard to turn away from my one true love for long

Admit it, that's just because you love Jojo memes.
Ill be the rrrrooounndddabout
Or maybe he’s a Yes fan
Gee I feel like I’ve seen that twister weapon somewhere….
Air man's weapon in mega man 2
It’s the Air Shooter from Megaman 2.
Lobber can also be used at the queen Bee boss in some stages but other than that and the dragon one it's pretty useless since other weapons do their job better
Werner Werman first phase also, but yeah it's situational.
I actually found it pretty nice for the Moonshine Mob. It cuts through all three floors (and bounces like whoa) _but_ is just unfocused enough that it won't always kill the ant cops before they fire off parries.
And in the third phase it's - with a little luck - the steadiest damage you can do on the anteater's snout. Most of the other weapons I tried (including Crackshot) zeroed in on his tongue, which is useless.
My List (I include EXes because I use them a lot)
9th- Lobber (There is only one circumstance where this is good, but in that circumstance, it is undoubtably the best to use)
8th- Peashooter (Average everything)
7th- Chaser (This helped me a lot when I first started)
6th- Converge (Just so awkard. Like this just makes me feel weird when I use it)
5th- Twist Up (Low key slept on)
4th- Crackshot (It's EX is really good, but i think that a certain other weapon does its job better)
3rd- Spreadshot (Shotgun),
2nd- Roundabout (Better crackshot)
1st- Charge (I thought this was shit when I first played, then I used it at king dice and I use it almost always now)
But Roundabout is much less effective against air enemies than Crackshot is.
This is fantastic analysis. Thank you.
Meanwhile I got A+ with nothing but chase on the endboss of the DLC.
Generally it's a good secondary weapon for phase with lots of annoying adds or bosses that are very hard to hit.
As secondary weapon and this list is about weapons in general not if secondary or not
The best set is Crackshot and Roundabout
Roundabout was pretty much my main weapon throughout the base game, but for the DLC I decided to use Ms. Chalice and a new weapon throughout, so I spontaneously picked Converge. It surprised me a lot, wasn't expecting much but I got a lot of good from it, especially because of how many mobs/ minions the DLC bosses have.
I think converge was a bit underrated. Though not the best in terms of speed, it has extremely good coverage and the ex shot made a phase like beppis final one ridiculously easy. This weapon was definitely my favorite one to run as a secondary, and is even decent enough in certain situations as a primary
Converge is stupidly good at clearing minions, and a surprising number of the DLC bosses will give you time to focus it, especially if you are playing as Chalice.
Ms chalice sucks because she can’t even use an ability and invisible dash is way to valuable in boss fights
@@SoggySlopster I thought not being able to use the smoke bomb would make using Chalice harder but tbh once you get the hang of her dodge roll you'll be fine.
Honestly if she could use an ability in addition to everything she already has she'd be too OP lol.
@@SoggySlopster ... You know that Chalice literally has invisible dash right?
I never noticed how bad chaser's damage is, until I beat Ribby and Croaks with the PEASHOOTER! (I'm very new to the game.) Because, I did enough damage that there weren't enough places to kill me.
Twist up genuinely makes Saltbaker phase 1 not a joke. But far easier. As long as you go past him and aim up you have a huge chance of hitting with each projectile so with skill it's one of the most consistent ways of doing good damage to phase 1
Haven't watched this yet but the roundabout is the best weapon hands down. Does wacky damage and it's pretty much a guaranteed hit no matter where you shoot
“Charged and crack shot” while tossing roundabout occasionally. Who needs another weapon when we have these 2
I was actually surprised with how high charge was, it was the only weapon I never used lol
The chaser is only good for a few phases where the boss is flying across the level, otherwise you are going to get hit by taking that long to defeat the boss.
Converge absolutely demolishes the Phantom Train, especially the first phase. Since you can fully narrow it while jumping as long as you’re holding the aim button, it’s guaranteed to hit every shot on the Blind Specter. At its default wide range, firing it repeatedly gets rid of all the flying pumpkins that come in, so you don’t need to worry about your position changing.
I’d say it’s useful up until the final phase of the fight.
I just realized that Twist-Up is the opposite of Lobber
Lobber is literally your plan B before you get charge shot
I'm really happy to see a ranking that goes over both objective numbers and practical strats for the weapons but I do think the biggest issue this doesn't account for is the fact you hold two weapons. Which isn't to say the ranking is incorrect but I definitely do think that each weapon is specifically made to have a weakness that another can very easily cover. Like objectively in Sally stageplay lobber isn't good for phase 4 but that drawback is made up in the fact that you most likely have a something in your back pocket that can handle it.
Hey, I don’t know if you know this, but there is a third option for crack shot’s EX, you can parry the planet to send it flying towards bosses (even after you let it shoot it’s bullets for a bit)

Not for every boss, but for almost all of them.
Finally! I’m not the only one who absolutely loves roundabout!
Roundabout was the only reason I could beat Beppi the Clown lol
Let’s gooooo a new sunburned albino upload
Crackshot + Spreadshot is OP as fuck. Crackshot can just be constant spammed 24/7, basically no problem. And if a boss stands still for more then a couple seconds, you switch to spread shot to shred through them, before switching back to Crackshot to dodge attacks.
It’s literally just the better version of the homingshot + spreadshot combo.
I would say that the lobber is also effective against the bee's final phase.
You should do a video ranking which bosses in Cuphead you had the most fun fighting, it would be totally subjective
The roundabout has always been my favorite ever since I first got it
That’s why roundabout is always the first weapon I buy on a new game after the apple and the first run and gun
The first thing I thought of when I saw the Twist-Up weapon was Air man from Mega Man 2
About crackshot, the EX shot can be parried to make it launch towards an enemy at any point in its duration
I wanna suggest an interesting video: what would be the best loadouts while you progressed through the game from start to finish, DLC included. What weapons are most effective against each boss, what perks would benefit you the most in that boss fight, etc
Ironically as soon as this video ended I got an S rank on sally stage play
Roundabout has allways been my favorite
I only used crackshot to s rank saltbaker, but i always used twist up for the rest
Does everyone seem to forget that they said the ex crack shot turret can be parried so your supposed to let it shoot a few bullets then parry it to get it to shoot itself at the boss
Poggers new sunburned video
don't forget you can also parry the planet created by the crackshot EX move!
In the original, I used Charge Shot and Chaser; Charge for damage and Chaser for platforming and consistent damage
In DLC, I used Converge and Crackshot though; basically the same but bloody hell does Converge cleave through enemies
This is a solid list
My setup is having Crackshot as my primary, and having either Spreadshot or Roundabout as my secondary depending on the boss.
I use charge shot in LITTERALLY every boss in the game, i only use roundabout in the first phase of Ribby & Croaks on expert, and the first phase of the train. When i didn't know how to aim properly, i sometimes used the chaser, but charge shot can be used in every boss with no problem
I know that is situational but special mention of 1-card spreadshot attack because it was thanks to it that i beat beppy the clown in his 2nd and 4th so quickly and eventually got the A+. (recently bought the game :/)
Converge goes CRAZY on the train level
An online multiplayer versus Cuphead game would be cool
I’m a roundabout guy myself. I’m proud of my boy.
Honestly I use roundabout basically for everything not because it is super good in all scenarios but because it is fun.
Twist up is like reverse lobber, and also the crackshot ex you can actually parry to send it towards the enemy

11. Converge (2-prong) - 17.42
12. Crackshot (Aimed shots)19.75
13. Chaser - 21.75
I am surprised by the fact that I actually agree 100% with this list
God I love albino
with the crackshot, you are actually supposed to parry the little planet. The ex was actually much more useful when i learned this.
Makes a lot of sense.
The more versatile weapons are just better overall but at least the more limited stuff have their uses.
You probably run one of the top 3 as your primary and then one of others as secondary for their utility.
Its also perfectly fine that the weapons aren't perfectly balanced for a game like Cup Head. Although I do feel a bit bad for chaser due to crackshot existing.
well if you. it turns into a rocket that attacks the enemy
6:35: This could not be more wrong. EX attacks are very powerful and are important to consider when choosing a weapon. All EX attacks do significantly more damage DPS than regular shooting, and are far more meter efficient than using a Super Attack (for example, Super Attack 1 does about 3 EX attacks worth of damage, but costs 5 meter). Notable EX attacks to mention are the Peashooter, which like the base weapon is versatile and useful against pretty much every boss; Spread, which is extremely good against background bosses where all 8 attacks can hit; and Lobber, which has the best damage of a single shot EX. Roundabout and Twist-Up are also capable of doing very good EX damage, but are more difficult to use to their full potential.
I find lobber works in Grim's first two phases, because even in the first one you'll still hit the lower body. I also think lobber is good for Rumor Honeybottoms if you can position yourself well.
Also I probably just suck at using it, but I cannot stand twist-up. I get the point of this list is objective facts and that's why you're using timers and looking at DPS, but as far as personal preference goes, I'd say twist-up is the worst one.
Where would you place Whetstone?

Crackshot is the new meta, alongside charge and roundabout
nah nah nah. Lobber is amazing as it is. To master every weapon in the game (before the dlc), i beated the game 6 times and on each world, i used only 1 type of weapon with no super arts nor charms (EXs are allowed tho). And when I say this, i literally swept trough the entire game up until Phantom Express with lobber in under half an hour.
Lobber is great to pre-load hits for enemies spawning in as well. Converge is useful when you want to focus damage on a certain target as it pierces. I almost always use either Roundabout + Lobber or Roundabout + Crackshot for the DLC personally, worked well for me at least.
I use the charge shot because I played so much megaman that it feels the most natural to me
My top (+ DLC)
9) Chaser
8) Twist-Up
7) Peashoother
6) Converge
5) Spread
4) Lobber
3) Crackshot
2) Charge
1) Roundabout
I ALWAYS used Roundabout and SpreadShot
But after the DLC I changed to Crackshot...just that, Roundabout is my favorite
The combo i always use is converge and crackshot. Converge feels good and can take a large amount of enemies quite fast since it has full-screen range plus it’s good for damage if used correctly. Crackshot is very useful when i have to avoid a lot of stuff while damaging a boss (chef saltbaker first phase) and it does a reasonable amount of damage. Ik this is prob not the best combo but i find it very fun and i’m quite comfortable with it. Also yes i’ve tried other weapons but i liked these 2 the most
Suprised you didn’t mention how good spreadshot is for background fights
It litterally saved my ass in the devil
