I bought the two Echo studios and the Echo Sub. I have to say, the sound is truly amazing! I would recommend it as a mid-range mid-priced system.

Have you got it set up? How does it sound & what are your thoughts?
I have the Echo Studio paired with FireTV Cube for the Amazon shows that support the Dolby Atmos. At the same time I have a optical cord connecting it to my PC for a pc speaker and use an app named Equalizer APO for playing ,Pandora ,Spotify,Amazon Music or Google Music. I can also use the Dolby for headphones app in windows 10 and this thing sounds just as good as if I were using headphones.
The best review of echo studio that i ever watched, here in brazil, the youtubers just are worried about their comission of Amazon store.
You can actually control and listen to your cable tv, dvd, pc all throught the firestick using ARC/EARC . Works well I have two connected and it is far better than my LG sound bar and sub.

Hi, thanks for the review. Yours is the first one I have come across that clearly confirms that this won't provide Atmos audio for films/TV other than through a Fire TV device, which is no good for me as wanted a reasonably priced Atmos home theatre to link up with my Samsung 4K player. Thanks Lon, great review! Just one question. One thing we want to do is play the music stream on Echo Studio through our antiquated stereo system, mainly because it has outside speakers attached.. The stereo system is hooked up to the TV so we can listen to TV music channels and connected CD player. Amazon "Help" said to stream in music from the Echo Studio to the TV we will need a Fire TV stick and you mentioned that should be a 4K stick. Is that correct?
Will the home theatre setup work with apps like plex on the fire tv stick 4K, or is it only for native amazon apps?
Tidal on the fire stick app, or streamed via bluetooth or audio input via an android device just sounds incredible.

I am thinking of getting this to use as a soundbar for my bedroom TV. Thanks for the tip that it's better as a speaker facing towards you as opposed to the side or behind you. I still have a third gen Apple TV that still works with Apple TV+ and Amazon and screen mirroring for everything else. Thinking of getting this and hooking it up via optical cable.
for a soundbar alternative i bought an SMSL AD18 for $80 (got it on massdrop as it was called last year), Micca MB42X for $80, and a Micca MS10 subwoofer ($125 before the price was inflated and discontinued). it's a great little 2.1 system, i'm not into surround sound or anything like it so it suits me needs perfectly.
can i ask is ther a reason your not in to surround sound

@@madmax2069 Well then my question to you is how did you have them hooked up how did you have your home Theater hooked up . The What type of receiver did you have also did you have it connected via Koax digital cable Toss link optical cable or just H DMI via Receiver you may have had if it had H DMI It really depends on how you had things hooked up whether or not you have a good experience a great experience trust me there is probly lots of people out there who are not very good at home theater and they have a similar system to what I have and they have it connected via RCA stereo cables and in that case you are not going to get the true home theater sound or experience now II have an 8 channel home theater system currently though I have the option to do doby at most if I wish I am currently just doing a channel because pretty much a lot of movies out there support Dolby Digital true HD and D TSH D 7.1 audio to give you some of the best immersion experiences next to dolby at most

Hi. I been using my echo studio for over a year now. It all of a sudden got unconnected from my android phone. I can't for the life of me get it to reconnect. It seems to be searching for Wi-Fi. I've never had Wi-Fi in my house. I've always used unlimited mobile data. Can you help me to reconnect using mobile data?

Is fire Stick tv mandatory for dolby atmos sound?
What about optical imput?
My smart tv has optical output, so connecting echo studio with tv with the optical cable is not enough to get dolby atmos sound? (yes i know the movie or sound must to be compatible)

The only way to get true Dolby Atmos sound reproduction from the Echo Studio is from a 4K capable Fire TV source such as the 4K Fire Stick or Fire TV Cube.
This is a major nonstarter for me, as I can't be limited to just an Amazon streaming stick or cube as the sole source of all my Dolby Atmos programming. ...
Could you not centre the speaker for use as a sound bar?
Also an optical cable to 3.5mm jack to go directly to the echo from your tv ?!?
I tried the optic cable feeding into the studio and it turn out very unreliable causing an annoying crackle and constant disconnection.I suspect the intention is to force owners into purchasing compatible firetv/cube products.

No you cannot use it because it only work with Amazon fire tv devices.

Can I plug this into my iPad and use it as a speaker to watch Netflix and RUclips as I don’t have a tv?
steve rhoods You can pair it via Bluetooth. With Alexa set up, each following time, you can just say “Alexa, connect iPad” to connect. (And “Alexa, disconnect iPad” to disconnect.) Keep in mind, this pushes all iPad audio through the speaker, not just Netflix/RUclips, so notifications with sound will play through also.

I change my comment. I was looking for a "Bluetooth" sync button. Tech support explained to me that it connects via ALEXA. I love my Echo Studio pair with the Echo Sub. The "Atmos" 3d sound gets tricked with many youtube videos and gets out of phase. Disable it if you don't have 3D music sources.

Gotta say I was very disappointed with mine... you can never get a good stereo sound from it, despite all the inner speakers. I shelled out £190 for it about 3 weeks ago.. i was determined to get the full stereo effect, so I went out and bought another Amazon speaker ... didn't want to pay out another £190 so i plumped for a smaller Amazon speaker for £55. .. rigged it all up , only to find the 2 Amazon speakers AREN'T COMPATIBLE ... CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT???? You have to buy 2 Amazon speakers of the same type to get a full stereo effect.
It is if your using a fire stick. It's not very good on optical or Bluetooth. But if your using a fire stick 4k it's incredible.
Better than most soundbars. This mediatek powered Echo device has audio good enough to disturb your neighbors.
Would I need the HD subscription AND a Fire TV to get the most sound out of my Studio? Or will one or the other suffice?
Yes you do need HD music to take advantage of the studio’s sound. I have two studios and the amzion sub and the Amazon cube. I have been happy with the out come.
I do not like the fact that in order to get all the functionality or be able to listen to the full capabilities of the product you need to subscribe to additional services. We are paying a premium price already price for the device. Imagine buying a car and needing to pay extra for using the radio or headlights. This business model is terrible.

How does this compare to Sonos?
If you are comparing Sonos One with Studio for audio, Echo Studio. Better, fuller, more immersive sound, though maybe not as crisp.
As a playbar 1 Sonos Beam vs 2 Studios, I went with 2 Studios (same cost). The Beam sounds good, especially given its size, but it doesn't sounds as good as the Studio pair (especially if you add the sub). The Studio pair will give you the full range of sounds, from high to low, as well as better sound separation. The beam will provide clearer dialogue, but it lacks on the low end and delivers an inferior cinematic experience vs the Studio pair.
If you are referencing the Playbar, that soundbar is amazing! Very immersive, very clear, very crisp. It is a pleasure to listen to it. With that said, for what you would pay for the Playbar alone, I would go with 2 Studios + Echo Sub. You're wallet will thank you and I don't think you'll be disappointed with the audio performance. The Playbar will be superior for highs and mids, but will lack on the low end. The entire cinematic experience of 2 Studios + the Sub is better than the Playbar alone. Now if you are also buying the Sonos Sub... that's a different story!
I paired two Studios and the Sub and it sounds good; really good! It sounds fuller (and probably better, although not louder) than my Samsung Q60 5.1 setup.
If you have a couple of older echo devices, which I did, my suggestion is to take advantage of Amazon's Echo trade-in program, get a credit and 25% of another echo device and get 2 Studios. I did and paid less than $220 for two Studios and I am very pleased!

Sucram Habib XIII How does it sounds compared to a 5.1 Sonos. I own one Sonos system but want to move apart from my parents, so a smaller system sound interesting. I wonder how the two compared, esp when the newer echo does atmos
I have mine under my TV not to the right or left of it and it makes a big difference.

The big question is how long will this g1 speaker be supported by fire sticks/cubes in the future. In 4 years when you need to replace your old fire stick that no longer updates the apps....will the newer devices support this or will you have to upgrade. To much risk/cash ratio for me.

Very good video. I watched you when you did it live and I order one from your affiliate link. $200 and it say will not ship till Jan 5, 2020 - Jan 6, 2020 I guess they have to make more not sure how you got yours so soon.
I preordered mine right when they announced it (or shortly thereafter) got in at the right time !
One of the things they could do is sell a pair of them, where one is a "dumb" speaker that connects wireless to the smart speaker.
You have to be really stupid to pay 400 bucks for 2 of them.. You can get a pair of Klipsch and an amp for the money.
@@Baerchenization You may have misunderstood my comment. Rather than spending $400 on them, which would be stupid; they could sell the package I spoke about for much less. Regardless I still would't it because smart speakers are not my thing.
NO BLUETOOTH. Only one error, yet: Great review as usual, Lon. At 2:20 you mentioned the Echo Studios can be connected to Bluetooth. Not true. Another mystery...Owners of two may be able to use them as stereo speakers for a non-Amazon source if they run their stereo signals to them with discrete left and right (two mono) mini-plug analog inputs. Alternatively, if I am reading the Echo manual correctly, the Echo TV Cube which feeds the Echo Studio Speakers may be connected to bluetooth sources. Thanks for you great tutorials...I am a subscriber!

@@Cornwall1888 That's right. IT CAN NOT. If you have one or a pair as I do, I'd like a lesson. There is no "Bluetooth sync button" on the Echo Studio. Also, on every smartphone or bluetooth gadget (iPod, etc) I have search for bluetooth devices in this space/room echo studio never appears as "available devices". Thanks

@@bamptonbred yeah they are pretty good can give issues but most so have to deal with it. But also anything believe volume 7 not so Great. But with what I paid and good if you use it with 🔥 TV 4k makes films sound better with more punch. Two worlds be really good.

No google cast either. Maybe they will open up ‘Alexa cast’ so developers can integrate it. This is the reason I won’t really use echos for whole home. I own lots of music I have ripped and there is not an easy way to send this to an echo.

It’s subjective. I MUCH prefer the sound of the Studio. Particularly the HD music. And I’m an Apple fanboy. I really wanted to prefer the HomePod. I bought the Studio.
I’m gonna pass... big time on aesthetics alone. I would not want one of those big ol barrel type speakers seen anywhere in a room.
Speakers need to fade into a room or disappear completely.
This thing is a piece of junk. I purchased it as a 2nd bluetooth speaker for my Smart TV. It would not sync. I purchased the optical cord and connected it that way. It worked for a few days last night it just stopped working. I cant reset it. It will no longer make a sound. I regret my purchase.

It is dolby atmos but it cannot beat a full speakers system for dolby atmos.
Do not buy if you want to listen to films etc it will ONLY work with amazon music. Be warned
