This is the show that got me hooked on Mraz back in 2002. When I saw him live a few years later Jason and Toca did an acoustic set just like this. Dream come true.
If you like this show definitely check out his 1/15/03 2nd show performance at Schuba’s Tavern. Sound quality, banter, set list and crowd can’t be beat; I remember it being my all around favorite show from back in the day. archive.org/details/jm2003-01-15.shnf
This brings me back. I was a sophomore in high school when this came out, and I always knew Jason would make it big one day. He is just too gifted. I hate that he had to go mainstream and lose a lot of the soul that made his music so amazing, but I will always respect him because he is a true artist.
I have to disagree with you a little bit....he still has soul, a lot of soul. Just because someone ends up on the radio or millions of people listen to their music, doesn't make them any less soulful. The fame hasn't gotten to this head, he's still as real as he ever was. He deserves the notice and fame he has received.
I think the actual Jason is becoming my favorite Jason haha ! Now he's between the low key 2002 Jason and the hippie cool and calm 2012 jason :D And his new songs are great I'm looking forward to listening to his coming album !
@Hippie Gypsies I agree....and I dont....the last album, reggae - and the new one that about to come out judging by the singles....he's grown up, he's comfortable - I don't think he's "sold out" and I don't think he's any less talented, but I think he's just made his best music and that's ok.
I saw him on his tour in Michigan I think the same year as this. Detroit, at St. Andrews Hall- no one knew who he was hardly but I had found him online by accident. Best Accident ever! Seeing him in Chicago in November and I can't wait. In all the artists out today he is one in a million for sure. Rock on Jason-
Mateo Daza I don't know that he is underrated anymore, I loved him for stuff like this, but his radio cuts these days are too polished for my taste... Wish I could have been at this show though, wow!
If you like this show definitely check out his 1/15/03 2nd show performance at Schuba’s Tavern. Sound quality, banter, set list and crowd can’t be beat; I remember it being my all around favorite show from back in the day. archive.org/details/jm2003-01-15.shnf
I love how intimate this is. They're just having a chat with the crowd and sharing the music! Awesome. Would give an arm and a leg to have been there back in these days

Always when I make a painting I'm tuning in on this set... It's unbelievable good and it gives me a lot of positive energy ! I would like to be present once in such a concert of JM and friends...
Best show ever raw acoustic primetime mraz, I have been singing along at work all morning I work at a plant nursery in Florida my notes may not be perfect pitch like mraz but I got the jist of the melodies so they can listen and enjoy too although I'm wearing earphones also rocking my Jason Mraz camo rooster shirt today with orange letters made out of 100% recycled materials, cheers to Mr Mraz and all he has done and continues to do in this world to help the environment the animals and the communities of people in which we call humanity. I grew up with Mr mraz brought many people to the vibe. It's a sound wave a frequency and lifestyle to have the opportunity to live let alone live with the music of the angelical phillopian voice. I always gotta go to the roots to find true love and inspiration. These java Joe concerts are incredible
This is really, really, really good. You really get to see just how good these two are live without a sound system. Its just depressing to know that he was better ten year ago than I will ever be.
If you like this show definitely check out his 1/15/03 2nd show performance at Schuba’s Tavern. Sound quality, banter, set list and crowd can’t be beat; I remember it being my all around favorite show from back in the day. archive.org/details/jm2003-01-15.shnf

100% agree. He has evolved which is totally ok, but I like the earthy organic imperfect mraz, the brownie show mraz, the barefoot curbside mraz. 100% agree
type "jason mraz hong kong live audio fixed version" and watch the 2012 version of unfold. seeing this again, i cant help but see how amazing jason has become and evolved as a musician. he has become mainstream but damn this guy still makes the craziest songs.

@astros2211 incredible there is not a single mic on stage. wowza. been a monster fan of mr. a-z for a long time, since about 03 my junior, and have seen him every time he comes to houston or austin but never seen this, thanks for this post
Wow people are rude to Toca -.- Don't forget Toca played a huge role in the way he grew...would probably not be anything like he is today if it weren't for him.

i'm rewatching this again and that's the best version of sleeping to dream i've ever heard and also that girl very faintly singing along to 0% interest annoys me to no end lol.

It's 2020 and I still come back! I'm so thankful the the Java Joe's era was preserved.
OMG. I had forgotten about the square dancing polka version of You & I Both segment at 38:00! hahahaha
2019 and still come here
This gave me chills. Still one of the best show of him. And we miss Toca
yes we do
Toca still playing with him in 2022.
For those who have been listening to Jason pre WFMRTC. We are connected for life. I'll never forget hearing Jason for the first time I'm 2002
Other than the Barnes and noble show this is his best works. So much effort on this show I see the hours and hours of work to do this.
2022 and still I keep on coming back here this is just a timeless masterpiece
This concert started and NEVER ended!
Eternal!
+Yan Victor almost 3 hours!!! what in the world!
+Yan Victor back in the day, there was no autotune. heck they didn't even use mics. that's genuine music.
Well Jason doesn't use autotune anyway even now but yes, most of the popular artists use it today :(

One in a million... and most under-rated artist right now, lucky you are seeing him haha girl, you know realy about music!! ;)
Mateo Daza I don't know that he is underrated anymore, I loved him for stuff like this, but his radio cuts these days are too polished for my taste... Wish I could have been at this show though, wow!
I hadn't heard of him till I went to a Tracy Chapman concert in 2003 and he was the "warm up" act. Amazing timeless stuff from both of them.

I saw Jason for the first time in 2002 opening for Howie Day in Winooski, VT. He blew me away. I've been hooked ever since
It's never not like top 5 shows I wish I hadda been at.
