I'm sorry, the extremely melodramatic framing and music made me crack up. "Sadly the patient was hit with the worst symptom possible. She turned French"
the comments on this page are so bad.. it must be a horrible feeling to not know who you are, not knowing your identity, all of a sudden.. i hope she is dealing better with this now.. It must take something very powerful to create this kind of change in someone..
Well, after studying English for 2 years on a remote farm while having nearly no opportunity to speak my mother tongue or read in it, I acquired a British accent in my mother tongue (it took me 3 months to bring it down to a bearable level) and became the first person in my country to get a CPE. Some people who can bear a solitary confinement for long can easily replicate my experiment.
I would love to have a French accent. But one thing I'm curious when this happens to people, do they also have other things change in their life? For example Maybe somebody that didn't like to cook now the sudden to have an obsession to cook like a professional chef. Or maybe somebody that wasn't into plants now loves plants.
It's a lot harder and less natural. Sure, you can do it for a bit, but you'll likely find yourself slipping. And this isn't something voluntary. Your very brain is affected. You can't unstroke the stroke
This is my own opinion, it is a past life for instance if someone was Russian in a past life they would not remember the actual language but they would speak English with a Russian accent the only thing that puzzles me is why this seems to happen to mostly to women. and in most cases nothing out the ordinary happens they just go to bed one night to wake up in the morning speaking with a foreign accent.
her new accent is a lot nicer than her old one!
lol what with the melodramatic feel of the video

Interesting that it actually changed pitch too. The new accent is deeper.

I don't know what her accent sounds closest to, but it's actually quite beautiful.
i would say more russian than french
Kay, I think this is a great video. I hope you will do a follow up and share with others how you are doing now !! Bless you for making this video !!
She does't have a foreign accent, our brains *perceive* a foreign accent...This woman has a speech disability and should be treated with respect.
even when u have a foreign accent u should be treated with respect not only when u have a disability

To be honest her accent now sounds nice.
Really not that bad

I just feel so bad for her
This is so sad.

Has there ever been reports of anyone getting an American accent , I have a theory.
Me
I wonder if theres someone in france who gets foreign accent syndrome and has an english accent in french...
People in the comments section.
You're all unfunny.
Really weird accent. It is a mix of French and Eastern european accent
So if your a foreigner n u get this syndrome, will you speak in a British accent?
You're a special kind of stupid.
I love how this is a 'disease' based upon opinion or difference in culture.
yes there is an American woman that got the British accent
Tom was right! Damn son!
hahahahahaha. watching him now!
Your FAS is more than likely caused by home Wi-Fi signal. When I turn on mine I always end up with servere migraine.
+ChrisL dumbass
thats a win that is xD
Lucky she didn't get a Chinese accent lol
Haha i just watched a program about a woman who woke up with a chinese accent.
lmao that one was pretty good to be fair
Real question why does it only effect women?
Stephen Sansom to answer the question. It's not. It also affects men. There's one person I know who has this syndrome too. He's a gamer.
67% of those afflicted are women (source: wikipedia)
how about just imitating your old accent??

maybe that's what happened to madonna and her british accent =/

Definitely not french sounding. More like Hungarian. Remember Eva Gabor from green acres?
She has a kinda french accent and likes to eat baguette, lol.
Very amusing. Worse things to get afflicted with. You may have ended up sounding german.. LOL
That would be my preference actually. Lol
