If you directly buy tickets from china railway via their official app, you can put yourself on the waiting list and once the seat is released you immediately get it(unless the seat is very hot like during holiday)

They have adapted to China. The scenery of small villages on the road is very magical, and rainy days are like in fairy tales. Hi, thanks for your kind comments. No, if you use an e-sim then you don't need a VPN at least not with the Airalo one I used. The only time I used a VPN was when I was using the wifi in hotels.
If you want to access sites like Google, Facebook, Instagram and use whatsApp when using Wifi you will need a VPN. I used Astrill and it worked perfectly the whole time there bit.ly/TS-VPN
You can scan the QR code to order KFC, but it needs to be done one hour in advance so that the staff will pick it up at the platform and deliver it to your seat. McDonald's, Starbucks are both available.

In fact, free WIFI is provided on China's high-speed rail, but you don't have a connection method and you didn't ask the staff.

I have only tried the Guilin noodles on the Li River cruise.
You can order takeout on your phone and receive your order at the next stop.
We tried doing that but it only works if you have a Chinese mobile number.
KFC is always the final but not the worst choice.
