General Kenobi. Years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire. I regret that I am unable to present my father's request to you in person, but my ship has fallen under attack, and I'm afraid my mission to bring you to Alderaan has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of the Rebellion into the memory systems of this R2 unit. My father will know how to retrieve it. You must see this droid safely delivered to him on Alderaan. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.
Nut Master this piece of dialogue is so beautiful and powerful

The call to freaking action! Such an underrated scene

Whoever mic'd this place deserves all the money.

True...Live concerts are rarely this well produced!

I don't know how John Williams came up with all this stuff, but his mind is that of a musical genius.
Electone_Guy considering his body of work, he wrote the soundtrack of a generation, and how lucky were we.

Know that when listening to John Williams music, you ARE listening to the music of a genius.
He's be doing that for over 40 years with movie blockbusters from the 70's into the 2000's. His themes are melodic, memorable, and recognizable. He is a musical genius.
Anyone else cry because this music ingrained into their souls since before birth?
I KNEW it wasn't just me, but I was a teenager when I saw Star Wars for the first time.
I got a tear, this has been a part of my life since 1977.

Haven't heard it done better. Magnificent.
There was a violinist with Princess Leia buns 💙
And Death Star earnings.
When it cut to the violinist with the Leia buns I actually sobbed
I can't get through this without tearing up since Carrie Fisher died.
This is by far the best interpretation I've ever heard of this theme. Not just technically perfect, it is also successfully arranged for love and passion and pain and care and all those beautiful sounds coming from the human heart. It is EXQUISITE DELICATE PERFECTION - the best musical portrait of Princess Leia's character and legacy. Well done Danish National Symphony Orchestra
I think this one beats it. ruclips.net/video/16x4K2lymoY/видео.html
The background/static noise ruins it, which is sad. The audience couldn't shut up for 10 minutes. @@putinscat1208
@@ThomasStephenForster It was still lovely.
I know one that beats both...John Williams version!😎
@@oxxford6997 We are talking about live performances. And while John Williams conducted this, it wasn't London Symphony or Boston Pops.
R.I.P. princess of the UNIVERSE!!!!You will never be replaced and you will always be remembered!
Carrie Fisher forever our pricess
Vlodec Impressive. Every word of what you just said was wrong.
We miss you Carrie Fisher , our princess Leia...
I like this better than the official recording. The tempo is not as rushed and just full of emotion that I can't fully explain in words.
One of my regrets was that I never met her.
I envy those who have met her, and the rest of the cast. I heard they were good people.
Especially her.
same. i wish i got to meet her.
I met her once in New York. She was hilarious and lovely.
I was only like 10 when she passed and wasnt that big of a star wars fan, but already knew I was going To miss her
I wish I met her too.
The crescendo in this peace of music gives me the chills, even after 34 years. So emotional. Brings tears to my eyes when I hear it. Every...single...time.
That should be 44 years. I am getting old.

IF YOU"LL SEE THE PIANO SCORES THERE IS WRITTEN "WITH 8TH SENSE"
One thing Disney can't fuck up! Is the music of the old movies. This is absolutely brilliant.
The flautist looks a bit like Carrie :)
energybengt oh my god she does!!
I was just thinking that too!
i came here to post this
I thought the same thing and got kinda sad
Im sorry i don't see it
"Princess Leia, are you wise, discerning, kind-hearted, and are qualities that came from your mother.
But you are also passion, fearless, and forthright, and these are gifts from your father.
Both were exceptional people, which bore an exceptional daughter! I wish I could tell you more."
Padme. 😢
I just saw that last night for the very first time! What an awesome ending
Its fitting that Leia's theme starts off as a solo, played several different times by different instruments. She was a guiding light in the force. When the theme comes together as an orchestra, its a reflection of her leadership in the alliance......I don't know why my brain works like this....but here we are.
2:36 sigh. RIP Princess
Wow. 99.99% as good as the original. You can tell that the members know of the emotional significance this song has with millions of fans around the world who loved Carrie Fisher and Princess Leia. The solo's were spot on perfect, not only in tone but timing. I imagine the pressure to nail this was huge and the rehearsal sessions long. Well done!
What is the .01% for?
The Great Dear Leader Jim Pickens not sure if it’s still like this but technically for music competitions that’s the highest score you can possibly get, because it is not the original so thus it’s not 100% as perfect
Elaina Nagel
Ah, thank you. I was wondering
And I believe it was done soon after Carrie passed.... so sometime in early 2017
cryhavoc38 don’t want to burst your bubble but professional orchestras usually rehearse repertoire the week of the concert - there are no ‘long hours of rehearsals’ because they have so much repertoire. These types of concerts have 2 purposes - attract new audiences to live performance and make money. To the orchestra this is just another performance - nothing special. Now Beethoven on the other hand...
this theme gets me emotional. it still feels like a punch in the gut that carrie is gone. almost four years later and i still can't even accept she's gone. carrie has been my role model since i was five, and i wish i could've met her. she was such a talented, beautiful, and funny soul. she deserves the world. still hurts me that she's gone. i used to dance, and i was in an improv class, and the teacher asked us to dance to a movie or show theme, so i chose this one. danced a lyrical piece. did that two months after carrie passed, i couldn't hold in the tears. i miss her dearly. she isn't gone, she's one with the force. i love and miss you, princess. ♡
And just in case it hasn’t been said, there’s a lot of us men that agree with you 100%
True. My wife got to see the ugly cry face when I found out she passed, watched the last Star Wars film she was in and heard this song. I was a mess. 🤣
This should be called 4D sound, honestly. Ntm, these musicians / conductor really get “Leia”- the tenderness, the hope, the sweeping majesty, the poignancy
I'm not crying. You're crying! Shut up! (sniff)
That i am mate
Possibly the most blissfully romantic compositions ever written...I'm gonna miss John Williams.
@@ninjabearpress2574 I literally just said to my friend that when John Williams passes, I'm gonna cry like a baby. And I'm not ashamed to say that. His music blessed us with pure joy, wonder, power, and so much more....
@Darth Revan I could not agree more, from the Land of the Giants theme to this, and so much more, what a legacy.
How sad, right? A legend absolutely, may the force be with him
Never has a composer demonstrated better how HOPE is under constant threat
Who else is reading the comments and sobbing?
Thank you for this rich, gorgeous and moving piece! Bravo!
I always get choked up every time I listen to this particular performance. Though John Williams is the master, the Danish National Symphony really took this to another level. I can 'feel' this performance even better than the original. The flute player, the horns, and the violinists really got the nuance just right. And like someone else said, whoever mic'd this whole thing was a jedi knight of audio engineering perfection themselves. Hands down the only version of Leia's theme I keep coming back to
It simply does not get any better than this. Absolute masterclass of creation and performance. That last violin run and note just gives me shivers every time.
Agreed. Every soloist here absolute virtuosos.
Those damn Danish sure know how to play a great star wars tune. 👍🏻😁
No doubt they are all fans

French Horn player clearly feels and loves what he's playing. Lovely smooth performance.
Violinist also had her hair up in little side buns....
RIP Carrie Fisher - truly one of a kind.
Beautiful.... RIP Carrie Fisher :(
Oh my goodness...I am sitting here at my kitchen table, watching this performance for the second time and I am simply a wreck...balling my eyes out! The emotional depth and care the Danish National Symphony put into this performance is exquisite! And such a fitting tribute to Carrie Fisher. It was John William’s score of the original Star Wars (later dubbed episode 4) that first inspired me many years ago and made me realize my love of orchestral music. I was already a high school band student and had taken piano lessons for 6 years and very much into music but the sounds, the richness of each instrument and the combinations of them, and the extremely wide range of sounds and emotions from the soundtrack was exhilarating. I became a bassoonist (from saxophone) and played in orchestras for many years after thru college. I have always loved everything Star Wars, especially the music, and at the very top of the list is Leia’s Theme. There is such an emotional depth to this piece, what I consider John Williams’ best theme in the whole series (which includes so many incredibly different but equally emotional themes). SO, in choosing to listen to the DNSO’s version of this I was hesitant at first...you don’t MESS WITH MY STAR WARS MUSIC! Haha. But only a few bars into it and I knew this was special! I agree with the previous comments that just the slightly slower tempo only serves to make the piece even more emotional. And the soloists...AMAZING!! They all captured the spirit of the original recordings but elevated the music even higher. The longing, the desperation, the satisfaction, the..hope...amazing performance. Kudos to the DNSO!!
No one composes film scores like this anymore.
It's 2:30am and now I'm crying.....
Always make me think of Carry Fisher. We miss you girl. Thanks for the amazing work you did. Real fans know what i speak of
Princess Leia theme is my favorite score from the movie. It’s so good. John Williams is a legend. Can’t be touched.
One of the most beautiful themes from Star Wars masterfully played and filmed by the Danish National Orchestra. This orchestra has become my reference for several renditions (including Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota and, of course, John Williams). Keep up the good work, your videos are perfect !
Morricone, they do it so great im in itally and eating the wrong dish :)
The most beautiful, I think.
He wanted it beautiful because it was her song.
This almost sounds better than the original recording!
AMAZING talent on stage here. Props to the audio team for doing an exceptional job!
Seriously! This sounds like a legitimate studio recording. Absolutely fantastic.
"Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope." Rest in peace dear Princess Leia Skywalker, we love you. Carrie: "I Know." 😢
An outstanding performance. Performed after Carrie's passing, the orchestra plays a perfect memorial to her. With the opening horn solo the sense of loss, longing, and love for the Princess is absolutely breathtaking. BRAVO to the performers! Han Solo: "I love you" Princess Leia: " I know"
I had the good fortune of having a busy studio singing career for 6 decades, during which time I was honored to work with this incredibly brilliant composer. During the recording session for Close Encounters, I mentioned to him how much I loved Star Wars. He smiled and simply said, It was a lot of work! No kidding.
The most beautiful song ever written. John Williams.
That flute player definitely loves Leia.
It’s just impossible to put into words the emotional resonance of this piece.
John Williams is a genius! I actually cried listening to this piece!
02:37 my oh my! So beautiful!
This music stays in my heart forever 😭 we miss her a lot
Thank you James Earl Jones (1931-2024). May you and Carrie Fisher rest in peace now with the force.
Yes, I'm crying.
I would love to hear this mixed together with Across The Stars from Attack Of The Clones. There are some parts of this that sound like the perfect segue to it.
AWorldWithoutTenors I would love that.
I can hear that too. Good call.
I'm a Violist but I love the French Horn! To me it's the most beautiful sounding brass instrument and the best instrument in the band!
Its brutal! The best interpretation i´ve ever heard of the Leia´s Theme by far! No doubt absolutely!
That brought me right back to the days when I was a kid listening to this theme. Beautiful.
I still miss you Carrie.......
This is the only music that can actually bring tears to my eyes. watching the orchestra its like a conversation spoken in notes
Let's slow down for a minute, and mention the great work of the *recording, mixing and mastering engineers* who brought this wonder to life, so we, the people could experience such a masterpiece.
Violinist with the Leia hair, I love you
Denmark 🇩🇰 certainly has an amazing orchestra ... that violinist, that flutist, that French horn man’s eyes.... so awesome . I can listen to this over and over
This interpretation is amazing. It’s slowed down and truly captures the beauty of this piece.
4:25 I love how you can’t tell where the flute ends and the violin begins! Awesome!
Imagine not being able to hold your cough for 2 more seconds and interrupting the final note of the entire song.
Straight to jail
The light shining on the lady playing the flute , YAS QUEEN🥺💫
WTF some dislike it, MAD WORLD.
Sadly ya can't please everyone
They dislike that it ended. My theory.
Love the flutist and oboist. Orgasmic ecstasy.
In this piece, I hear shades of Borodin and Rimsky-Korsakov. I know John Williams will be remembered alongside such names.
One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed.
Anyone else crying by themselves when the theme started 😭, just me, that’s ok. r.i.p 🙏
This composition is transcendent to dwell amongst the finest amongst all the greatest classical music. John Williams stands as peers amongst the great masters. This performance is as lustrous and elegant as Maestro Williams's original presentation!
As a Songwriter/Composer myself, who's delved into Classical/Orchestra, I can't fathom how John came up with this stuff.
As someone who saw Empire Strikes Back with my Mom in theaters, when it first came out, this song makes me sad. As a young kid, "Leia" was legit in my top 5 SW Characters.
Luke, Yoda, Han, Boba Fett, and then Leia. The Han and Leia story was actual love, and Carrie Fisher's life was filled with so much struggle. I guess I just feel sentimental and nostalgic hearing this. I miss being a kid in the 80s. Things were different. Star Wars was REAL, I thought it was.
Absolutely amazing. Whoever coughed at the end, I hope it was worth it.
Remember as a kid playing Star Wars with your friends and all the girls would fight over who got to "play" princess Leia?
Many Spirits lol I’m a girl and I played Luke 😂
I thought it was just me, and it’s funny because I would always end up as Han and being like “ew gross he kisses the girl” 😂😭
The real hero of Star Wars
Here after the finale of Obi-Wan- can't say I was disappointed.
This Makes me emotional carrie fisher will always be the best princess ever like halo it makes me wanna cry because the theme songs are so beautiful and the stories man its so great, and does words general Kenobi brings back so many memories of when I used to watch Star Wars and see lasers flying and I had absolutely no idea what was happening it is so amazing how far the trilogy has come. :, ).
And whoever this disliked this you are a horrible person because this song is of a wonderful person who sadly passed away with her mother
The human race is so capable at producing such beauty 👍
A magnificent orchestra. The musicians are great. Especially the first horn, the first oboe, the first flute are very strong. Bravo. low bow
This is a masterpiece of music. The intensity of the musicians is obvious by the look on their faces. It takes you thru the French horn to the Flute and the the Violin and that surely brings tears to the eyes. Anyone who has had a death of a loved one can appreciate the sadness in this theme. This piece and the other Star Wars pieces makes me remember when these movies first came out. The actors were famous for their performances not their politics and the story lines will live on in our memories. The Danish Orchestra has brought to life those times. Perfection!
Wow. Best on RUclips.
This song gives me the feels. I love the original star wars. it had the best storyline, the best music. God bless Carrie Fischer.
It sound so mournful... Literally made me cry.
Miss you, Princess. General. Sister. Friend.

I wish I could 👍 all "DR Koncerthuset" videos before I saw them. I guess I will have to 👍 "DR Koncerthuset" videos the hard way.
Wow, I agree that this is the best performance of this theme. Gorgeous phrasing by all soloists, especially flute and horn. Bravo!

Juzt WOW!!!! I think the best I have ever heard this played. I ended up a sobbing mess. One of John Williams' mNy masterpieces that waz never given the recognition it deserved in the movies.
This version of the Leia's theme is very orchestrad and greatly led also with another orchestra, but when you listen this music it seems to live back all the actions and the story of Han Solo and the princess Leia so to get come back to the 1977. Who wouldn't see together again the couple most beautiful of Star War's characters seen in the cult of science fiction movies?
What an incredible performance. Every note crystal clear, pure magic !!!!
My favorite of the whole soundtrack
This song stirs a storm of emotions in me, like fragments of a past me that only come together here. Thx John!
So exquisite. John Williams, you nourish my soul ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
DNSO - you brought me to tears. Well done.
So relaxing , RIP Carrie fisher.
John Williams is the 20th Century's greatest ever composer of musical score. Period. Long live the King.
Most beautiful rendition I have ever heard. Even the original does not compare. With kindest respects to John Williams the Maestro. I get a bit teary eyed hearing this because of the beautiful and complex woman this is for. Princess Leia will live forever in all of our hearts and souls. May the force be with her and all of us.
I think this was played shortly after Carrie Fischer died and I'm convinced that that is the reason this rendition feels so emotional compared to the other ones we might have heard before. In the full version the conductor also gives his eulogy to Carrie Fischer before he starts.
My hair stands up. What a wonderful piece of music😍 John Williams greatest love theme !
So moving.
The oboe produces such a magical sound.
