You cannot observe your concioussnes, or anything metaphysical. But you know innately, so where does this concioussnes go? Once the atoms in your rearrange themselves and your body decays, where does this mind/conciousness go? Answer me. If I put an eye on your arm connected to your brain, will you see out of it? No. Because atoms do not generate concioussnes. So again where does this go? Life after physical death is clear.
