It's really interesting how the cubelock gameplan has changed with Hearthstone's progression. If I remember correctly, old cubelock often relied on the Doomguards to provide a massive lethal push both from cubes and from Bloodreaver Guldan. Now in this deck, you're not even running Skull of the Manari or manacheat beyond simple voidcaller. It's cool to see how a combo deck evolves into a control deck.
As with a lot of decks, they tend to evolve after the meta shifts with introduced cards. Like how secret mage back then didn't have rigged fair game but instead relied on aluneth to turbo out more cards or big priest used barnes to cheat out a 1/1 obsydian statue to get going
@@friskydrinklunkybank1108 Regarding barnes in big priest, I'm reasonably sure people just got sick and tired of repeatedly resurrecting Barnes so they cut him the instant an alternative showed up. xD
@Toast yes barnes wasnt ideal but back then, you didnt have blood of ghuun and the 8 mana summon a 10/10 copy, only shadow essence, so it was worth the risk to get a bigger body in the res pool at earlier turns
Skull of the Man’ari is simply outclassed by Voidcaller to be honest, Skull is a 5 mana do nothing for a turn which will probably get you killed in current HS. Also Doomguards were cut because you’d much rather get the big taunt boys out consistently then risk pulling a Doomguard and dying. If you ever reach turn 10, Bloodreaver Gul’dan is enough to close out the game anyway. And you still have multiple N’zoths if needed.
@@rajkanishu Taking 14 damage in Wild on turn 10 is chump change. There's so much healing in the format that any control deck worth its salt will laugh at you, like this one.
Back in the day I had to play cubelock in order to stand a chance against it. It was such a versatile deck, switching playstyles according to opponent decks and being able to win any match up.
Personally for me, I always laugh whenever people bring back up the free super chat jokes, but now hearing that people are actually getting mad about it is gonna make me laugh twice as hard

11:10 The idea of seeing lord Farkwad at the gym is hilarious. To be fair, the free money is a dead horse. But if ya'll have fun with it then that's all that matters.
27:00 is there any reason why discarding the shallow grave there is the play? I mean, void caller on field which you know will summon mal ganis, carnivorous cube in hand so you can eat mal ganis, then shallow grave for 4 mal ganis, and all it costs is one turn where you have to eat 9 damage from a Mutanis, which you left on board and if the enemy has a card that removes your minion you might eat that 9 damage anyways. Am I missing something obvious?
They changed it recently because it was too good in decks based on discarding things such as Discard Warlock. It's significantly worse now because of it.
@@Bloodyninenightangel You do it on turn 6 at the earliest with a single big minion that provides no offensive pressure besides the fact its 1 big stick that can only be revived 2 times, more if Expired Merchant that the opponent can interact with and play around. The only reason Big Priest is good rn is that Neptulon is 24+ attack. Cubelock is bad because it makes big boards at 10 mana and can't just spam them every turn you don't deal with it.

I’m sorry and I understand where you’re coming from, but also seethe (:
I love cubelock. My favorite warlock deck ever.
How times change, sometimes. New hated decks rise and fall.
void lord still one of my favorite cards ever
I can verify that superchats are free money. However, I exploited this so much that I am currently on the run from the IRS. I think I’m safe tho
Stay safe. IRS agents are notoriously violent.
Thank you for the super chat.

I too miss this deck! This is the deck I crafted golden N' Zoth and Bloodreaver for. Gave it a spin and its doing well at low ranks.
I crafted Golden Expired Merchant so I can get Golden Gul'dan or N'Zoth.
gg! I was the reno Paladin! the birb really got me as i had zeph in my hand the whole game lol.

I like this guys vibe. Relaxed, yet invested and knowledgeable of the game.

Same for me. Roffle’s voice is pure ASMR before I doze off
It’s been years, how have they not fixed Willow’s entrance animation yet
Her voice lines in duels are also fucked up. I don’t think they care about stuff from wild unless it dominates the meta
It was fine on release, then it got messed up. Then they fixed it, and now I guess it's off again lol

Wait so cataclysm Is now being used as a unironically useful board clear due to its “nerf”, how did we get here
First time I ever got to legend was with cubelock, still a favorite of mine
The only game where I’ve heard the full Cthun battlecry voice three times in a row.
According to the end of the video, that deck had legendary supporters as murlock cards.
I think the free money jokes were wholesome and funny
Even if they weren't, who would get angry at people constantly sharing inside jokes with their favorite content creators?
Its crazy when a clips channel puts up the 1 hour vod before the main channel
I don't miss that deck... because I still play it!
Cubelock was my favourite deck in any metagame, followed by TGT Wallet Warrior
The tag line for this deck:
UNTOUCHABLE!
Well I don't know who this Shallow Grave belongs to, but it sure ain't mine
Not my superchat either

Anyone else refer to the Devourer of Souls as those giant floating heads from Rick and Morty?
