  • New to riding or off road in Colorado? Moffat Road (aka Rollins Pass Road) is a good place to work on your skills. Met with some riders that were just starting out and decided to grab some video and share with those that might be looking for a starter place to ride.
Clips of ride starts at the 1:50 mark

That road actually used to be the old Denver to salt lake line (aka the moffat road)

Awesome man! Wish I would've been out here a few months ago so I could get to the top! Took my stock 02 sierra up the pass and only got about 7-8 miles before I got stuck the 3rd time in snow and turned back. Wish I could've kept going, but it was getting dark and I was worried about being stranded!

Yep, better safe than sorry. I wish we had better weather as well, would have loved to explore more of the side trails. Maybe next time.

I assume you could have got to the top if there was no snow? 2wd or 4xe sierra?
considering taking my lifted front wheel drive VW Golf up this pass from winter park. (5 inch lift and 28 inch all terrains)

Doesnt really look that difficult compared to some of the real offroad Passes. From what I have researched, I should be able to drive my lifted VW Golf on 28 Inch All Terrains(front wheel drive) right up and over this, Winter Park to Nederlands. What do you think?
Bumps and rocks dont concern me, but decent incline with loose terrain is a killer for my car.

based upon the cars I passed, I think you would be OK, at least up to the point we made it before turning back. It is rocky in some places though so you might bang the bottom of your car in places.
