  • Gerber Freeman Guide folding knife - Kinda undecided on this one, I own the fixed blade version of the freeman gude and really like it. I use it for general chores around the cottage. The handle for me is very comfortable, SO... when I saw this I had to have a look at it. Well not my favorite Gerber product to tell the truth. Kinda undecided on this one.
    Tanks for watching as always

I have been on the fence about this knife ever since you sold me the Gerber Freeman Guide fixed blade. Just have not pulled the trigger on the folding version. While watching your video it hit me. I think the folding version would make a very good camp kitchen knife. Hmmmm. Got to do some more thinking!

I think that my problem was with the handle. It was no where near as comfortable as the fixed blade. Probably just my stubby grubby is more the problem. The blade was not sharp as I expected it to be from Gerber. I did touch it up just fine and sharpened the 90 on the spine. I'm just a little disappointed that it had to be done. Maybe I am getting old and grumpy. Lol.
Thanks for the support my friend its appreciated 🙏

I had the folder for quite some time . I switched to the fixed blade , and have had it for years . The sheath wasn’t my favourite , so I bought a Ottoza scout carry sheath . It’s been my edc forever , I haven’t had any problems with it ! Good vid sir 👌🏻

Looks like the edge and back of blade just needs some "Clean-Up" meaning get that Work Sharp out and use the finer grit and work on the edge and then using the ceramic rod polish it out than the leather strop fine tune it, as for the back you may need a file or at least use the coarser grit Work Sharp part, Gerber seems to make pretty good stuff, the folder is a pretty big for a folder and for that weight knife I prefer a fixed blade a Buck 110 is about as big of a folder that I like.
George you will appreciate this, I work in an office with lots of women and a couple of them wear High heels that are spike heels and are shiny materials and pointed toes and ZI tease them that they need to be careful with those "Sharp and Shiny" weapons they are wearing, I had to explain the first time I told them that , they just laugh now when I tell them that now!!!

I’ve had this folder for a few years. It was basically my first decent knife. It feels comfortable in the hands - and I think folded up, it makes a good fist filler if you’re getting into a fight. The rubber on the grips has come off over the years, but it’s no less comfortable to hold.

Yep. Unfortunately, my hands are horrible. All palm no fingers, so I struggle with this one. But it's a Gerber, so you are sure to get the use out of it. Thanks for watching

The Freeman folder has been my go to work knife for the past three years. I am part of a state government first response group that deals with chemical spills and other environmental hazards. This knife has never let me down.

It's a great knife. So under rated. I use it in the man cave all the time. It's my cottage EDC. thanks for the support. And be safe out there. Appriciate you guys dealing with the nasty stuff.

I wish Gerber would go back to making their knives. Like they used to. Nice looking folder. Unfortunately the steel they use I just don't care for. Another great video. Keep them coming.

Thankyou. There are a lot of companies no longer making their own knives. Unfortunately they do not seem to be able to compete with the pricing. I'm the first to admit I price shop. Maybe we (budget) people are causing it. What to do. Appriciate the support.

Although not my cuppa tea, it is a well built knife. I did clean up the blade and the spine and they work fine. Not much I can do with the handle except maybe change the Scales.

Hey George! How’s it going? ☺️It’s a shame the handle isn’t as comfortable as the fixed blade, it’s a really cool knife! I think taking a fixed blade and making a folder version is a great idea, it adds even more versatility to the design in my opinion.

    • @2ndchancegeorge

Yes. I think they over did the handle. Its about twice as thick as the fixed. You would think it would be the other way round. Hope all is well
