- The smoke has cleared and the dust has settled after Iran's unprecedented attack on Israel.
The Saturday night attack - the first, direct military action targeting Israel from Iranian soil - was proportional retaliation, says Iran, for the bombing of its consulate in Syria.
Israeli leaders have vowed to respond - when the time is right they say.
Fears are growing that this could escalate into a regional war.
And are those fears justified?

I would not be surprised if Iran's cost was closer to 100m or less; that would allow for 333k per drone/missile, and thus it is probably generous. This was a warning AND a recon mission, now if there's another attack they know exactly how to do it. P.S.: Iran didn't use any advanced weaponry, it was old drones and missiles. They'll use the real ones if the west makes any mistake.

These are just a few examples, and there are many more conflicts where the USA had direct or indirect influence in the last century.

This may evolve into periodic Targeted attacks on specific days for instance the Beginning of Ramadan or the Beginning of Rosh Hashana or Yom Kippur. These events, these attacks could be more symbolic and designed to insight an emotional response and not lead to large wars.
The timing could be more important than the actual degree of the offense, and limited may become the trend again as external players will pressure both to keep the strikes symbolic and not destructive.
