Once again easy to absorb content, working in the aerospace industry I was taught basic hand skills to cut and file to various tolerances, CNC machinery is great if you require big production and have the banknotes, but your tutorial is right where I need to be, and the methods you show, keeps the hands in practice, thank you Matt.
I thought to myself, there is no way this is going to be acceptable quality. But you did a perfect job with pretty basic tools. Im very impressed. well done and thanks for sharing
First let me say thank you for the post it’s a great video.. clearly you plan to live past 60.. gloves ,hearing ,eye protection and a mask.. how smart men do fab work.
Great easy relaxed tutorial. Funny the animals in the background because I’m looking to to cope extensions on a gate to make more head room on one side of chicken coop. Meanwhile my goats, dogs, ducks, and chickens are my background spectators.
Brought myself a notcher. Great for conventional angles. Then I came up against a 30 degree this way and 7 degree that way. Gave up after 2 hours. Found your video, followed the instructions and 10 minutes later...all done. Thanks, great video, I'll have a beer for you this evening!!
This is definitely the best notching without a notching tool clip I've seen on here. There's no messy measure this, mark it this way, "properly" stuff. It's a common sense approach.
Watching someone that knows what there doing makes it look so easy, great video, I'm just starting to build a roll cage so your info will help me a lot, thanks.
Right on. I'm trying to build a cantilever gate frame. I saved this video to my welding/fab folder. Very helpful. If this project of mine doesn't make me suicidal I might try some other metal work. Greetings from Denver mate.
Extremely well done! Just spent the weekend with notching software. Printing the results and gluing onto the tubing. Not any better looking than your!!!
ive seen videos of people making the tube notching job vastly more complicated than it has to be. this is probably the most simple way to get er done. besides a coping machine.
Im going to attempt making a log style exhaust manifold and getting the ports to angle into the larger diameter log was one of the things i was dreading. You have just made it 10x easier! Thanks will make sure i subscribe!
Perfect, thank you. Made one this arvo for a shovel handle just by eyesight and it was well nigh spot on, but that might have been just good luck, and anyway, the shovel doesn't care. :)
That was extremely interesting. Thanks for taking the time to show us. I might have to make a push bar for my lawn tractor. Love your work... Thanks again.
Cool thinkn bout makin a ladder for my van. And might notch the 4 steps like this. Only 8x shouldnt be too bad. And i might even get it right by the 8th one. ha.
Very good, simple explanation. I have some handrail I need to notch. Would a good vise (holding pipe at an angle ) and a production (heavy, powerful) drill press work for angular notches?
Nice Job, That's the way I do it too. I don't have a notcher.. People that don't have a eye for angles and geometry, should find something else to do..
Actually i dont have an eye for angles and i do this for a living. My notcher does it all for me. So no you dont need to find something else to do if you dont have an eye for angles and geometry.
Great video. If you were going to put a second piece of perpendicular to the first piece of so that both would be on the same/level/height. How would you sketch the notch in order to do this?
The notch needs to be deep enough that the inside edge makes contact all the way around the tube. you will see some notches looking like they are half way around the tube but that's only when they haven't been bevelled properly. With a proper bevel your gonna be looking more like 1/3. Cheers

well done, love the animal sound track in the back ground...cheers from USA
Good stuff 👍
Birds and sheep on the back ground 😀😀 best place for relaxed doing your job

Hands down the best explanation of tube notching I have ever seen. Thank you for taking the time to make and post this video.
As always your tips and tricks are spot on and helps out the little guy who just starting out.
Cheers
That was the clearest explanation of that method I've seen, think I know where I go wrong now. Regards to Shaun the sheep.
Cheers
once again....excellent advice....thankyou
As the video was starting I was reading your comment wondering what you were talking about. 58 seconds in Ive worked it out - Brilliant.

Happy to help. Cheers
I tried it out on some pvc pipes that I had laying around and it worked like a charm. Thank you for the clear explanation 👍🏻
This is the best notching video I"ve seen in a LONG time. And I watch notching videos as a profession. No I don't, but this really is a great video.
This is definitely the best notching without a notching tool clip I've seen on here. There's no messy measure this, mark it this way, "properly" stuff. It's a common sense approach.
I like the Farm yard sound track you have in the back ground. Baaaaah. Im having notching nightmares building a Bobber Chassis. Try try try again.
Best video ever on how to do this... Perfect for rollcage fabrication... Thanks for doing this man!
this is by far the best channel if found on the topic of fabricating tube structures
The way you explain the process is just perfect....thank you!
Watching someone that knows what there doing makes it look so easy, great video, I'm just starting to build a roll cage so your info will help me a lot, thanks.
For what vehicle?
@@VidalXvi 1982 CJ7 Jeep, totally restored, with all the good stuff.
I use the seam in the tube as guide to give me a datum point to get the cuts square! Top video.

Good video. It was helpful for my lightbar build for my truck.
Very clever Matt. So simple to do

Its great watching an expert eyeball measurements, just do the cuts and with great results!
Very practical and very well explained showing your expertise. Excellent.
Thanks a bunch sir! just installed a handrail at a park and it turned out awesome... great video and technique.

Thank you, straight forward explanation.
I wish I had a shop like that (maybe not so much in the winter!) But, I would get so much done!
Great video as ever...
Thanks. Easy and straight forward.
Great tips.
I'm jealous, seems like you got a farm and a BIG work shop.
Hello from Vegas
Perfect, thank you. Made one this arvo for a shovel handle just by eyesight and it was well nigh spot on, but that might have been just good luck, and anyway, the shovel doesn't care. :)
Great tips , n easy for the man who is just on his first build or job using metal, keep up the good work.
That was extremely interesting. Thanks for taking the time to show us. I might have to make a push bar for my lawn tractor. Love your work... Thanks again.
No problem, Cheers
you made it look so easy
Love the videos! The sheep in the background were awesome, too. Cheers from the USA.
Thanks.
Thanks, I'll be using your methods starting today.
Thanks! You’re a Great Teacher.
Good job mate. You made it easy to understand. Cheers
🙌 cheers for the tips, really good and in-depth. Hopefully will start my own notching for my rock sliders soon.
Cool thinkn bout makin a ladder for my van. And might notch the 4 steps like this. Only 8x shouldnt be too bad. And i might even get it right by the 8th one. ha.
Seeing from India
Nice idea 👍
Watched yesterday, tried it today - worked pretty well - there must be a formula/rule as to know how deep to draw your cut line
It depends on the wall thickness and angle but once you've done a few you will be able to just do it by eye. Cheers
1/3 tube diameter is a good rule of thumb.
Love the heckling sheep!
This technique looks like something I would use. The fancy jigs and hole saws seem like overkill for my needs.
Very good, simple explanation. I have some handrail I need to notch. Would a good vise (holding pipe at an angle ) and a production (heavy, powerful) drill press work for angular notches?
Awesome work! Such a good fitup for eyeballing!
Great explanation, best I found so far. Thanks
Cheers.
That looks a feck load betterer than the abomination I did yesterday, thinking of cutting it off and doing it again.
great job a easy method on how to notch pipe!!!!
Cheers
very good technique..thanks a lot..now i know where do i start..
Have you bought some sheep? Great vid mate very clear.
No mate there in the farm yard next door. baaaaaaahhhhh
ty sir...nice n easiest vids to follow step by step
I found this very useful.
Wow this is Awesome. You are the Man!!!
Nice Job, That's the way I do it too. I don't have a notcher.. People that don't have a eye for angles and geometry, should find something else to do..

Awesome vidja but the smaller the tube gets, the more work with the grinder you have to do for fitment.
Love the background sound effects lol
Bravo …. Great technique …. Simplest and easiest way with clean and as perfect result as possible… really fast too with common basic tools!-
You get a like just for the bleeting goats good sir!!
Great video. If you were going to put a second piece of perpendicular to the first piece of so that both would be on the same/level/height. How would you sketch the notch in order to do this?
great video..thanks from Portugal
Cheers
Followed the link for the notcher and it showed £246.65 + £2,317.96 delivery !! Lol. Nearly fell off my stool.
But great video as always
haha, yeh don't buy that one then!
Muito bom, obrigado pela aula de encaixe em tubos!
That was such a big help, thank you
Yea love the animal sounds.
The wife is calling!!
Great tips thank you.
Great tip and loving your videos👌
What tubing is that your using? And would it be suitable for making a motorcycle frame ?
Nice job
What about when the notch lands on a bend ? , like top bend on the main hoop to the rear turret
You are the master!
awesome thanks for sharing.
Awesome video! Thank you!
mad skills and tips bro!
nice explanation, thanks
You are a wizard 👍
Haha Cheers
in about ayears time you will use the cut offs for your miata suspesion ?
Great vid thanks for your help
Great video helps alot
Thanks, as usual... Good Info
Very good cheers for that 👍
Awesome vid.......baaaaaaaah!
Baahrilliant video
This was great! You MIG or TIG these?
how/what determine's the depth of the throat of the notch ? eg ; 1/3 ,1/2 of the tube diameter or do race sanctioning bodies each have their on rule ?
The notch needs to be deep enough that the inside edge makes contact all the way around the tube. you will see some notches looking like they are half way around the tube but that's only when they haven't been bevelled properly. With a proper bevel your gonna be looking more like 1/3. Cheers
Damn..that is beautiful
Good job boss
God Stuff mate! ....... Thanks!
Steve bothering the goats again ...
Your pupil did not understand any of it. I hear him going ERRRR nonstop.
Nice
brilliant
Angle of the dangle
this is great thank you
Cheers
Awesome
bruh whats the sequence of the notched pipe, please give the sequence
Sounded like that sheep was saying "Daaaaad".
thanks
