I'm not sure when this show was first telecast on Australian television but I used to watch it as a child. It really was 'boys own annual' stuff and although the dialogue and plots were basic in many ways I was glued to the set during its first run - I think one of the first films I ever saw in a cinema was 'The Lone Ranger and the Lost City of Gold' or something like that. Westerns on TV were a big part of growing up before the 1970s.
With his faithful Indian companion Tonto, the pairing and resourceful masked rider of the plains led the fight for law and order in the early western United States. Nowhere in the pages of history can one find a greater champion of justice. From out of the past come the thundering hoofbeats of the great horse Silver! The Lone Ranger rides again!
Ah, Memory Lane! It's wonderfully clunky, isn't it? (Tonto digs a grave for Collins with his knife, in the time it takes to saddle a horse.) One thing that's always puzzled me: if there is now no one who knows that John Reid is still alive, why does he need to wear a mask? Indeed, why did he *ever* need to wear a mask; and wouldn't he have been less conspicuous without one?
Well, people who knew him before or other outlaws might recognize him, even if they thought he died. It may be less conspicuous but then again it does leave more mystery.
The video quality is very good. However, the video is flawed by the splicing of the closing credits from another episode!!! Disappointing to see this occur. Surprised that no one noticed this editing error. Wesley Tom
I sure noticed it. I just watched it this morning, and the character names didn't match up (example, no Butch Cavendish listed), and the actor Monte Blue wasn't in this episode. Good post, Wesley!
Originally recorded for the radio show (in Mexico) in 1940, and used until the final radio episode in 1954. George W. Trendle, who owned the series and produced the original radio version, was a CHEAP man. He figured he'd use the same music cues on television, and no one would notice the difference. He was right.................
Thank you, gentlemen!! I love finding out these tidbits of knowledge. I might try looking up the movie he was nominated for an Oscar on. Thanks again!!
Xq se hacen ls difíciles y no lo traducen dl inglés al spañol para América Latina es mucho pedir Karajo d la serie El llanero Solitario q es Clásico en América dl Sur !!
I’m 76 and I still like to watch the Lone Ranger 😄 He always gets his man or woman 👌
Dang so you were watching this show when you were around 10 years old in 1955 that's so classic
I'm 63 and still like to watch these reruns.
The Lone Ranger enunciates perfectly, like a classical thespian, and he shoots straight every time, but never to kill. What a guy.
So did Gene --When he sang.
enunciates like cold reading.. rigid board-like actor at first. as audio tech improved so did the acting.
And why is he wearing spurs 3 days after he was injured. Lol. Lots silly mistakes. Hard to walk in spurs and stupid to climb a cliff
But why didn't he give Tonto remedial English lessons?
So glad to have found this. Thank you. I didn’t remember how Silver was found.
Can we just stop making new shows and take five years to enjoy all the old classics great ones?
Can’t wait for Episode #3 !

I'm 10 and I love the lone ranger
That's one heck of a James Bond mini buffalo gun he had there.
I guess I watched every show of this back in the early 60's or late 50's. lol ooppss my age huh?
I watch it every week even now. For the past few weeks -Hart is playing the role.
Ricky Smith This one is from 1949.
I'm a minor and I watch it
I was older when this show first aired than you are now.
I love the movie
A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust, and a hearty High O' Silver.

*daring
Sorry, one finger going too fast.
Oh my goodness! How will they ever get out of this one?
It's incredible how much "Zorro" "Batman" and "The Lone Ranger" have in common. "Batman" was also influenced by "The Shadow".
And the Grand nephew of the Lone Ranger was Britt Reid, The Green Hornet!
And don't forget the green hornet...
Not all that incredible, several of them shared the same writers.
The second episode, originally telecast on September 22, 1949. Narrated by Gerald Mohr.
Correct---What a voice he had ,
"Thumbs down" people are offspring of the Cavandish Gang.
Not sure if Silver just poisons them or if it ends them. It’s a perfect Key of David parable.
dinner tonight - buffalo steak
🇺🇸thanks fifty stars,13 stripes, from John Robert Bruffett Junior American Flag!
HI-YO SILVER AWAY!!!!!

Somebody screwed up; they got the wrong cast credits up on the end title. For instance, that's Walter Sande as the Sheriff, not Monte Blue.
Pretty sure its Hi Ho Silver, Away :)
You're thinking of the seven dwarfs.
Sheriff’s nickname is 2 guns yet he carries 1 gun
Ol' Two-Gun didn't get his name because he carried two guns.
His rifle.
That guy screamed like a girl...
Never carry big boulders on cliff faces. You'll lose your center of gravity and your balance.
Lol
I guess his britches were too tight
I said the same thing it was hilarious.... By the way i love ur name rhiannon rose 🌹... Beautiful!!!
It is season one episode two. Check out the IMDb listing. It's accurate.

They fed Silver while recovering to have him return so.
I know Silver bullit was used only by a person who holds the law & a symbol of clear and side of the law.. and not attract by stains or rust.
I was told they return to where they last ate.
The music in the show is from Alberto Colombo --He was cellist :Nominated for an Oscar (movie ) Portia on trial.

Very good catch -- this is true>
This is what got me interested - i love this music- Never get tired of it :He took the classics and made them a perfect fit from the show.
Thank you, gentlemen!! I love finding out these tidbits of knowledge. I might try looking up the movie he was nominated for an Oscar on. Thanks again!!
How in the world could you dig a grave with a knife that would take forever
I wondered the same thing...
Oh my god! They shot Silver! You bastards!
In five years, The Lone Ranger and Tonto, never kissed a woman or go to the bathroom. How did they hold it for five years??? Lol. Hahahaha.
They never want to a saloon. It was either a cafe or a store.
Maybe they were lovers...
@@jamalmccoy2441 who are you talking about?? You and Russian President Puttin???
@@worldchampion8888 t
I was referring to the lone ranger and tonto not ever being seen kissing a woman. It was meant to be a joke. You idiot....

Collins screaming like a woman
I love his facial expression afterwards whilst he's looking down at him, you could almost see the words "By George he screams like a girl!"
Collins may not have been a good guy but still, he should've had a Cross on his grave
FYI - Silver kills vampire blue bloods like lead kills the red blooded Americans.
Craps! Are you telling me he killed a great buffalo for a white horse? Lol how come I don't see the Indian taking the skin and meet from the buffalo?
They didn't show what they did every minute of the day.
I have 13 betacam sp tapes each with 2 episodes on. In PAL. Am willing to sell and ship.
How come they fix Jim Blaine's leg, when he got conked on the head?
Unknown...
