I bought one 6 months ago and love it. Of course my old sxs is a 2015 T4, so the power and suspension are amazing! I also live in Texas and ride mainly wood trails and rocks. I can tell you it is a beast on technical terrain.
My friend showed up at the dunes (Dumont) with his new Kawi and I was impressed. I did notice it is BIG. Huge in fact. At the dunes, where power rules the day, it was behind. It is built well to stand up to abuse. You're 100 percent right though, needs more jam. I could see it struggling in the dues for sure. Trail riding or rock climbing it would do very well for most drivers.
With the size of machine it's competing against, it seems a pretty poor judgement to have that little power, especially when machines almost half that weight have 100 hp.

Agreed! Unfortunately the KRX went back to Kawi already and we never had both on site at the same time. Wish we did though. That would've been awesome. ZFORCE has some zip and might beat the KRX out of the gate, but the KRX would probably walk it. It's the superior product. Built like a tank, better suspension, better wheels and tires, just needs about 10-20 more HP or even a turbo and it would dominate.

A more aggressive clutch tune might make it FEEL more snappy... but it wont make it faster. It would also take away all the benefits of how smooth this vehicle is currently clutched. Which is really nice on the trail.
Clutching will just help part of the issue. The motor is good for. NA, even more potential than most. The sheer weight of the machine is its limiting factor. Add 300 lbs to the NA machines and see how much pep they loose!!!

The brute needs more than a bigger engine . It needs better suspension geometry , faster 4x4 activation , a softer seat , 14 inch wheels , 3rd headlight , and a better quieter engine brake . Annnd it needs more room on the handle bars for customers that install windshields , hand warmers and the winch control . My opinion is that the power plant in the brute is plenty . Weird question but.......can you tell me which has better ride quality when riding slower, rougher trails in the ruts rocks and hills of the midwest? KRX or Polaris General XP Deluxe? I realize they are "different " animals. Just looking for a very plush ride.
I would probably remove the front sway bar and add GBC dirt commanders for my type of riding/hill climbing if I purchase one. They appear to be built very well compared to my XP, but I'm a little disappointed that Kawasaki's motor is a little soft.
The motor isn’t “soft”. If you look at the stats, it has high compression, large throttle bodies and substantial exhaust compared to the other NA machines. However, at nearly 1900 lbs, it robs a bit of the zip it could have.
The engine may not be soft, just a little underpowered for the application. I know what you're saying it's just not the best match. The engine in a Piper Cub isn't soft, but you put it in a F-15 and well....

I see your point but that's not the krx's purpose, to me. It's not a X3 or Turbo R and they intended it to be that way. To me, it's purpose is to be 1 of the best trail machines out there for climbing, playing, & riding with friends. And it is! The krx isn't trying to be a speed demon, it's more Monster Truck. Great points. There's room for the line to evolve. Kawi could produce a lighter 60 inch version and then also make a turbo. Would really round out the sport lineup.
It's seems to be very good at it's intended purpose. Possibly they could add some drive modes . I do understand what you are saying. I think what you said about being more monster truck than speed demon may be right. I think where the rub comes in is it's labeled a pure sport s×s. I like the build. Maybe they should label it a monster s×s, it might get traction. As far as a trail machine, I think it's a little to large to be it's best at that. Great looking machine , probably reliable as all the other long in the tooth equipment they sell . Kawi customers are loyal , and that's what they base their beliefs on . 64 mph ? And a turning radius of a tractor and hay wagon , hmmm a Honda 520 will get by it . When you enter the big boy class , HP and an ace up the sleeve is needed . Relying on your reputation of that's probably good enough won't work these days . Blue collar dollars is the deciding factor . Great review thanks
@@dirttraxtv Hahaha! One of our guys has a Mule. Waiting for him at trail intersections (so he doesn't get lost) gives us a chance to get a drink! So it isn't all bad.
Bad machine, I was seriously considering one, the price and width killed it for me. Went with the cf 950 sport. Performance to money made more sense, 12999 vs 17999 for a base krx or rzr 1000. It's quicker than the krx and hangs close with the rzr. Ride is a little stiff but I think it will soften up a bit once I get some miles on it. They are all fun
@@Supertramp01 so far so good. Suspension isn't as good as a rzr, top end power is down a little but it's not bad. Reliability is at least on par with polaris if not better. The biggest issue I have is lack of aftermarket support but it's getting better.
You have to admit, there are no shortage of impressive options for us riders. We are truly spoiled at this point. However, give us a damn pure sport SxS KTM!!!!
I'm still surprised they went with a cvt as Japanese companies tend to go with the more reliable solution to what ever they are doing. If I were an executive at Kawasaki I would have pushed for a sequential six speed mated to a turbocharged engine pushing 150 to 160 hp to make it truly competitive.
The Yamaha is not a big seller. At Dumont/Glamis almost never see one. We don't have problems and a belt change is WAY easier than a Yamaha clutch rebuild. After my friend bought his Yamaha, baked the clutch and sold it, I don't even know anyone who has one.
ChrisNVegas The YXZ is just flat out awesome in the dunes. I have almost 4000 Glamis dune miles with not a single issue. We have four YXZ’s and they are built tough as nails...no clutch issues.

No excuse for Yamaha not including a low range and time for a refresh and turbo/SC option. Look at the incredible Yamaha snowmobile engines. Right now, Polaris is testing a new 4 cyl SxS. We dont use a radar gun. I just took it out on a LONG straight flat stretch of black top and held it wide open.... 64mph on the gauge for like, 5 straight minutes. Down a hill, a little more, but that doesnt count. I know gauges arent overly accurate. But its whats indicated.
It will own it on width-restricted trails simply because you can't take a KRX on those. It's already been shown to beat it in a drag race. It won't beat at rock crawling, BUT it's probably the most-capable recreational vehicle in its class and can do rock crawling well, just not be the best at it, which many will be just fine with. The RMAX2 can haul gear and the RMAX4 can haul gear or people.

I'm a Kawi guy. I have a 2 KX's and a KFX700. And a Can Am! Lose 500 lbs and gain 80 HP
It is a beast!! To big for most of the trails I ride here in western Alberta thought in my opinion. Still a very nice machine. Thanks for the review.
They need to lighten it up and turbo it. I’d buy 2.
It seems to be known for it's durability. If they lighten it up, it might effect it's durability.
What ever happened to the test ride in the z force 950?
I think it airs next week on TV and then we'll post it on YT.
Kawisaki will soon take over once again
Not a chance. Too conservative.
I know what's coming. It's being tested right now and it's not Kawasaki.
Needs to be 64" wide for MN and WI trails
Is that faster than the Mule?
By a little.
@@dirttraxtv Hahaha! One of our guys has a Mule. Waiting for him at trail intersections (so he doesn't get lost) gives us a chance to get a drink!
So it isn't all bad.
🤣🤣🤣
Bad machine, I was seriously considering one, the price and width killed it for me. Went with the cf 950 sport. Performance to money made more sense, 12999 vs 17999 for a base krx or rzr 1000. It's quicker than the krx and hangs close with the rzr. Ride is a little stiff but I think it will soften up a bit once I get some miles on it. They are all fun
You get what you pay for. There is a reason your CF is that cheap
@@Supertramp01 so far so good. Suspension isn't as good as a rzr, top end power is down a little but it's not bad. Reliability is at least on par with polaris if not better. The biggest issue I have is lack of aftermarket support but it's getting better.
@@wickedmainah950 well thats not saying much when you compare reliability to a polaris! I agree not many dealers or parts around.
@@wickedmainah950 out of curiosity...what kinda of problems have you had?
@@Supertramp01 nothing yet
What does it cost ?
20k
I hope the steering wheel is easy to get too... 3:00
Great video
Thanks!
That extra weight equals durability. It’s a robust machine. I’d rather ride more and wrench less.
I’ve wanted and worked for a dirt bike for years and I can’t get one
Well, it looks more like a racing buggy than a UTV
You have to admit, there are no shortage of impressive options for us riders. We are truly spoiled at this point. However, give us a damn pure sport SxS KTM!!!!
I've got a KTM 1290t super adventure. If KTM would do a s×s I don't think you'll ever be short on power. Rotax are know for their power.
DUNE YXZ come on man you don’t even like the YXZ!😏😏🤣
Deranged Off-Road Lol! You Deranged guys are everywhere!
@@DUNEATV He didn't smoke the clutch at the dunes. It was on a kind of intense shelf trail switchback. I LOVE Yamaha. Grew up with Yamaha.
No excuse for Yamaha not including a low range and time for a refresh and turbo/SC option. Look at the incredible Yamaha snowmobile engines.
Right now, Polaris is testing a new 4 cyl SxS. (I have an inside connection)
Need turbo ASAP please
The speed is not limited to 64, mine and others ive been around do 67 to 68
Great!
We dont use a radar gun. I just took it out on a LONG straight flat stretch of black top and held it wide open.... 64mph on the gauge for like, 5 straight minutes. Down a hill, a little more, but that doesnt count. I know gauges arent overly accurate. But its whats indicated.
I’ve had mine to 68 multiple times...flat ground.
People act like those are racing vehicles lol
Then buy turbo etc. It more reliable than others.
Kawasaki Better make update of brute...
I didn’t care for the KRX personally...it felt too big and heavy. Maybe I was just use to my YXZ....🤔
I think your YXZ would walk it in a race. The KRX really does need more HP.
Dirt Trax TV Thanks for all the great videos And keeping us up on all the new products!
Thank you!!
It's nearly as big as my Jeep! Seriously!
Do you need a driving license for this?
Need to do a review on Polaris rzr, ranger, and sportsman highlifter lineup
It looks like a halo warthog
Clutch kit
64mph top speed you shows you was doing 75+ so what tune it got? 😂
Needs engine putting in a kawasaki bruteforce ATV
Krx with a x3 motor would kill the sxs world
Maybe it’s clutched too conservative?
115 hp and almost 2000 lbs.
Can Am X-3 is 192 hp and 1,481 lb
ChrisNVegas for the top model, they also have a 120 hp and 172
Needs a supercharger
My KRX runs 67 not 64
17 people hate Kawasaki....
Destin Shore
The RMax will own this, more power, smaller and more nimble, less noise, less heat, Yamaha's higher quality and fit/finish, and dump bed.
Not the same kind of machine. The Rmax competes with the general. It definitely wont smoke the KRX.
Nice 👍
Watch Andrew Camrata's video
Anything but Polaris!
I said the same thing when I bought my 14 teryx, 15 grizzly and 15 outlander. Well now the teryx is gone and I have a rzr 900 trail lol. Lookin at turbo XP’s now to add.
Damn why you even bother with a turbo if the speed limited to 64 mph LOL for the price I can buy a nice truck LOL. I have 800r Commander will run 70, my Maverick trail 800 will run 66 I could still outrun that thing. Too many safety nannies for me
68 not 64. I always need to run 70 mph in tight trails said no one ever
Why no 200+ hp engine in this? Come on Kawasaki, put a real engine in ths thing
This engine is excellent but it is under-powered.
Loma Island
If they made one in a 64 inch I would buy. They dont, so I won’t. KRX can’t fit in a lot of East Coast trails.
First
If your in it for speed only then look elsewhere...The 2021 Yamaha R-Max 1000 will smoke it the R-Max is half utility and half sport.
Very different machines. The Rmax competes with the General. Not the RZR or KRX. It definitely wont smoke the KRX though.
@@pavmentsurfer13 Its already been proven the best 3 outta 3 drag races the krx gets beat badly....Check out Ruthless Motorsports video on this.
Wish they would throw the motor in the brute force!
This video managed to make an exciting vehicle boring. Blah.
Noooooooo
Kawasaki went to a belt driven crappy designed turd of a transmission.....
Shocks soak up big hits with out conplaint. Why did you stop that clip as it hits ? I can tell you why because its a load of Junk.
Because we're trying to scam youuuuuuuu
It's so slow though...
Not exactly slow, just not as fast as it should be.
Remember the tortoise and the hair.
