Definitely you can use fountain pens. I have even used Writer's Blood and no issues. I love journaling in my Kinbor A5. Cheaper than Hobo and no pesky quotes at the bottom of the page.
I use my fountain pens in this planner all the time. Vintage Sheaffer pens with vintage inks, or modern pens with J. Herbin inks if i want something other than blue or grey.
You can definitely use fountain pen ink. The pen isn't the problem, it's the ink. Some will bleed, some will not. I use Jacques Herbin "stormy grey" without bleeding.
I really like the KINBOR planners. I have a video on them up on my channel too. They trump the Hobonichi for me. It’s a cleaner layout than the Hobonichi and more functional space - Hobonichi wastes a lot of functional space imho. And so much cheaper. I’ve had no issue using fountain pens in my KINBOR planners. I’ve used watercolor, paint pens and other media as well without issue. Love your spreads.
This is my first foray into non-TN standard size Kinbor. And it is an amazing planner - I am truly enjoying my time with the Kinbor A5 2023 dailies :) I think I may need to adjust my expectations of what is a 'good for fountain pen' paper. The Kinbor paper has bleed through but I may be really spoiled by Tomoe River Paper :D Thank you for sharing your Kinbor experience. Your ink collection is amazing
I'm surprised you said fountain pens are a no-go. I have been using this same planner as a daily journal this year and it accepts all my fountain pen inks, plus watercolor markers and most hi-lighters. I think the ink matters more than the pen itself. Shadowing is different than bleed-through and the paper does shadow a lot, but so does the Hobonichi paper.
I’m surprised myself. But the paper in my planners do shadow and bleed through. I do not know why my experience is different. I found the EF Kaweco nib to work so it may be nib size. It could also be that the book I have is different from yours in a quality control issue. The Hobonichi does shadow and bleed through with specific pen/inks too. But the Kinbor shadows/bleed a lot more.
I became such a fan of your channel, right away. I love your planners. I have the same Kinbor and I am obsessed with it! When I learned about the Cousin, I really wanted to get one… but as December and January went on, I realized I really, truly couldn’t afford to buy it at that time. I’m so glad I happened upon the Kinbor. I like the paper a lot. Question - do you have a favorite planner shop when it comes to the rubber stamps that you use?
Thank you for sharing the tip about not using certain fountain pens in the Kinbor. I love using fountain pens in my Hobonichi Cousin. And some of them are shimmer inks.
I have a totally different experience 😅 the ghosting isn’t too bad. I agree that it’s a bit like the Hobonichi. But since the Kinbor paper is white, it makes me see it more I think 🤔 But then again, the ghosting doesn’t really bother me. It’s the bleed through that’s giving me trouble 😅

Lols about the quotes.
I’m trying very light hand and very light fp inks right now. 😊
Same!
I use my fountain pens in this planner all the time. Vintage Sheaffer pens with vintage inks, or modern pens with J. Herbin inks if i want something other than blue or grey.
Those are great fountain pen combinations! I tried with my fountain pens. Maybe I need to research more fountain pen combos to use 😊

Thank you for clarifying about fountain pens. I was wondering how dupe it really was.

Thank you for watching 😊 I love using fountain pen on my Hobonichi too!
I’ve had no issues with shimmer inks in the Kinbor.
@@lkessler1 Thank you for sharing :) I've yet to try a full page of shimmer ink in mine.
Huge congrats on submitting! You must be feeling so much relief. One day I’ll get there too. Hopefully 😅
Thank you so much! It is a long and challenging journey -- but it could also be quite fun and rewarding. Just enjoy the journey :D Good luck!!!
I’ve used my fountain pen in my Kinbor. There is some ghosting, but no more then I get with the cousin.

Interesting... i have an a6kinbor and I use fountain pens there, so maybe the paper is different?
Yes, it could be different papers. I haven’t tried the A6 Kinbor yet 😊
I’ve not had any issues in the A5 using fountain pens. The paper is Bachuan and it’s thin and nice and it works wonderfully. I used paint in mine too.
