This collection is why I have started buying more indie sewing patterns. My favorite is Style Arc... current looks that you see actually see in stores.
@@jadeelise7982 They do have some instructional videos on RUclips. I have never watched them so I can't say how good they are. But you could check out what is available
Thanks for all your thoughts on these patterns. It helps to learn how to look at things. I think a big miss is the poor fabric choices on several of these. It’s a challenge to see beyond it. That’s why your input is so valuable to me.
So happy you finally have your review up. I can't buy patterns without them now. You've saved me so much time and money by making me think "how am I getting that on?". Only one I think I will buy is the turquoise dress. If I was 22 I'd make the Jiffy dress, but that boat has sailed for me.
Hi 👋 in pattern 9597 I would experiment with a wide piece of elastic where buttons are ,or shiring maybe? Just so you can slip it on over your head ,very gorgeous dress though. All the patterns are very 😍
Loved the pants with the buttons on front. Many years ago I made similar style and wore them constantly. Agree they shouldn't have covered up the cutest part with the top.
Oh Lindsey!! You had me giggling sooo much during this video. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard someone say they were going to raw dog an outfit before 😂😂😂 and I’m surprised that you didn’t point out that last blues clues polo wearing guy was wearing matching socks. Not many patterns I would buy this time around buuuuuut, I LOVE your videos!
The wrap and tie pants are just two *really* wide legs. So they're about 2 feet out on each side and you wrap the back edges round to the front and the front edges round to the back. Easy peasy to create without a pattern - just use an existing pair of pants to trace the centre crotch seam and extend the width of the leg.
I plan to buy both of the Mimi G patterns. It looks like the Back of the bra top of the 2nd pattern is riding up. It does not look straight across her back. You've convinced me that I need that dress that would look good on every kind of fruit. I think I'll make a cruise formal in the long length. OK I need that Jiffy 1960s dress too. That patchwork dress I think was a Kwik Sew.
Everybody should have that jiffy pattern in their collection it’s in a mosh tooth fairy simple sewing yet the creativity of that dark and the option to turn that into an evening look for going out to dinner or you could turn that into a very fancy dress with trims and what not which is very popular in the 60s so not too impressed with the overall collection but I will be looking for that Jiffy pattern
When you saw the dog cone pattern and said "OH NO" I took that as we'll definitely be seeing some fancy dog cones from Lindsey in the future. 🤣 This collection was nice. I'm not hating it like other people seem to be. However, there isn't anything I'll be purchasing...EXCEPT maybe those Jiffy wrap pants. My daughter keeps seeing those and saying they are "so me." I might make them and see if she's right. I like the button pants but I prefer a real waistband rather than elastic so I'll skip.
There are tons of videos on how to make these without a pattern. They are also called Thai Fisherman's Pants. There's also a video on how to use the toilet while wearing them, men's and women's versions!
I think that foray of these patterns, the upper bust measurement should be used so it fits the shoulders better. That is a more difficult adjustment than just adding to the bust, IMHO. Also, the top part should be zero or negative ease while allowing the area below the bust to have some positive ease.
What a great summer season for patterns...Wether it is for Vogue, Simplicity or the others. Of course it happens when I don't have access to the $1.99 sale because I moved 10000 miles away from Joann's...
I would love to see your version of 9613 pattern especially skirt. This is only pattern that looks like it have some potential . Other patterns in this collection big disappointment, except vintage ones.
I’ve been sewing for five decades. This is one of the worst summer collections I have ever seen. The patterns are getting so bad in quality for proper fit. McCalls is very bad. I usually like Simplicity but this one is just too country bumpkin for me. Not into the the peasant baggy look either. Thanks for showing us. Love your vids.
I agree with you. Awful collection. When I discovered Indie patterns, my sewing world changed so much for the better. I especially love Itch to Stitch and Love Notions.
When I saw the back of S9597 (Mimi G dress and romper with bandeau top) I noticed that the top was riding up a lot. I bet that’s because of the 3” of ease at the bust. Maybe if you’re wearing a bra that’s 4” too large in the band like most women it’ll be covered? I swear I bought the super color blocked swing dress pattern a few years ago. I don’t think it was Simplicity (Kwik Sew maybe?) but they definitely did a new photo shoot. You can actually attach ribbon or twill tape to the top of the pocket and bottom of the armsaye to keep them from flopping around. The Victorians did that to keep them in place and prevent extra bulk at the waistline. Edit: It’s Kwik Sew 4260!
Margaret...I too have been sewing for a number of years and I have to agree with you. This summer collection is awful. Not in the least flattering especially for the ladies with a fuller figure. The worst one is the blue and white tight fitting dress. Who on earth chose this collection?
If the patchwork dress was in any fabric other than looking like 70’s caravan soft furnishings and had Marcy Tilton’s name on it people would love it. I think they’ve finally lost the plot with this lot for the most part 😩
What a hideous time in history we live in 😂 just kidding but that last polo shirt girl/boy pattern along with his hairstyle and pants/shoes combo is killing me.
NOT exciting. I would make the 9610 crop shirt into a dress because I love that back detail. I might even buy it for that. But the rest - meh. And someone needs to explain to Simplicity that photographing a garment on a plus-size model does not make that garment suitable for a range of shapes.
Ughh. I couldn’t even watch the whole thing. The big 4 are so out of touch with what women are interested in. I made it about 1/2 way through and wouldn’t bother with a single pattern. Indie only for me.
Honestly i must be the only one but I disagree about the first knit dress in 2 colours ...It is absolutely awful, so unflattering on the model. as it sticks painfully to her every curve. It looks like the designer has watched too many costume movies about medieval jesters and used it as inspiration for this spandex dress.

Im enjoying style arc but intimidated by their lack of instructions 😫

I agree. Much better solutions than buttons.

"Sailor Pants" back in the day. Love them.
You are always spot on with your reviews. I do not buy any of those pattern releases without watching your videos first.

Haha. Thanks!
Yippie! Looking forward to watching this.
YAAAAAAAY! I missed these! 🥰

Agree... I made these 'back in the day'. Just loosen the ties... dont totally undo them... waaay better than a romper!
The 60 s jiffy dress is the best!!!!!!!
I'm gonna get the patchwork one 😍
Thank you! I can imagine you doing this live and all of us chattin' it up together!
9604 and 9596, I just bought these two patterns. How about a sew a long! Thanks for your reviews!

Awww. Yah! I’m so glad I helped you see it in a new way!
I really like a few of these for a change! Do you know when the next Simplicity pattern sale is?
None this month. Well, none that they published anyway.
I do like a few of these. I think the adaptive patterns are from kwik sew.

Dear Shopping List: S9599, S9596, S9610, S9607 ... cute, cute, cute! ~ L

I really like S9613. Not every pattern is tor everyone. Thanks for the First Impression Friday!

You can hack a pattern you already own, don’t waste your money. Loved Mimi G’s patterns, Simplicity should have let her design the whole collection.

Oh interesting. I’ll look into that trick! Gotta love the Victorians! Hehe!

9615 looks like a remake of Kwik Sew 4260

I think they’ve finally lost the plot with this lot for the most part 😩
I can picture the mimi g's sundress with a front fastening instead of back buttons. Much more livable, my opinion 😜
I agree!
Pattern Envelopes lie. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
I wish they would just sew multiple views for multiple sizes.
What a hideous time in history we live in 😂 just kidding but that last polo shirt girl/boy pattern along with his hairstyle and pants/shoes combo is killing me.
Mimi G patterns are targeted to bigger women but they are not drafted for bigger arm holes, sleeves, etc. it offends me.
NOT exciting. I would make the 9610 crop shirt into a dress because I love that back detail. I might even buy it for that. But the rest - meh. And someone needs to explain to Simplicity that photographing a garment on a plus-size model does not make that garment suitable for a range of shapes.

This is a very uninspired collection.
I only like the yellow pants pattern.
I agree this is one of the worst summer patterns and I would not purchase any of these patterns.
This is a terrible collection.
