After 2 years of listening to Butter Fly, I still think the same as I did when I heard it the day it was released...It is an absolute masterpiece...I honestly don't think you 'got it' at all, and no disrespect to you when I say this, but I suspect it is because you are not English, and more specifically not from near Liverpool....Lee Scott is not an easy listen if you don't really 'get it', but everything he says has 3 or 4 different meanings, and most of them only make sense if you completely understand the slang, and terminology of the Northern English language culture.
Good to see one of the best rappers in the UK get some recognition from people like yourself. Hopefully it continues. This album is an 8 for me. The title track and "Don't Tell Me" are 2 of my favourite tracks of his, nobody reps the northern UK like Leezus, his wit and stone cold dead pan delivery make me genuinely laugh at times. This was Lee's third (quality) album released inside 12 months, he's announced he's got another one coming out as well. Lee is ridiculously consistent in what he does, i don't even know his total number of releases. I agree that the lack of urgency on all of these tracks can make you tune out a bit but the whole buttery/jazzy/chilled vibe was the ethos behind the album so i can understand the aggression not really being there on this one.
wow...a decent review of a decent artist...i guess you aren't that bad after all...! :) would appreciate it if you could give UK hip hop a bit more attention...new Milkavelli album just came out...
you have no idea the fact i respect you for reviewing this underground hiphop. i haven't even watched it yet, but imma like it and watch it when i not fucked up
For the newcomer to blah shit start with the album "Put On the Glasses" with Lee Scott its one of the most classic rap albums of all time. If you are getting into Lee Scott or any of Blah Records i suggest starting with the earlier music from their days as Children of The Damned to see how their styles have developed and changed over time. They've always been next level since the beginning though. Lee Scott, Monster Under the Bed, Sly Moon, King Grubb, and Salar are all MONSTERS with wordplay. and new additions like Bisk and Sleazy F are great too, getting better every track.
I wish you’d review some more uk hip hop, i way prefer it to a lot of American stuff but I guess your audience wants you to review that stuff. Too bad, still love this channel
So surprised you muddled your way through the scouse accent! If you are up for reviewing any more albums from the High Focus roster, would love to hear your review of Jam Baxters - ...So we ate them whole. Ed Scissortongue - Theremin EP, and Mr Key and Greenwood Sharps. I guess a relatively UK thing these artists do is work with producers for whole albums, luckily, hip hop production coming out of the UK at present is ridiculous!
I like Brit-hop lately the only american hip hop artist I have been listening to has been Aesop Rock, Can you cover Aussie and Canadian rappers like Madchild, Seth Sentry, Hilltop hoods or TUKA? even in the one video exploring rap outside america.
+White Cube That's true lol but I think we need a Milkavelli album cuz I feel like he has a funny personality but I know he got bars.. plus he still hasn't made a single album yet unlike Lee and Trelly... I wish he could come out with something cuz he's honestly my favorite rappers out of the group since he is most funny to me and the first one I heard on the song SMFDB..
If you wanna hear a more aggressive album from Lee Scott check out 'stupid poignant sh**' with producer illinformed ... his lyrics and delivery are similar to in his battles
sad to see pne of the few UK Hip Hop reviews getting this little views compared to his other shit would like some more High Focus or Blah Records reviews, just to see your opinion
Lee Scott n Trellion are the best mc's on that label real funny dark lyrics if you can understand the slang n accents. The album is solid his other one Tin Foil Fronts is classic
Stupid Poignant Shit is goat, Illinformed beats are one of the best boom bap I heard. Btw I think Sell Drugs is just funny criticism of drug dealer mindset and blind consumptionism fueled by easy money. Simple beat and dumb lyrics on this one fits this topic in a perfect way. Nice Swan and his earlier albums are also great. One of my fav from UK
Yo Anthony, I'd love to hear your opinion on one of my favorite albums from middle school. It's called "forget and not slow down" by relient k. It's one of my favorite albums of all time and I would just love to hear your opinion on it man! Check it out if you can!
Come to Blah records for everything Lee Scott!!
Blah Records You got any other rappers from the North of England on your label there?
Jack Rae Black Josh, Sleazy F Baby and Herrotics all from Manchester and Tony Broke from Liverpool and more!
Blah Records BLAH SPEAKS THE TRUTH
***** He's done records with both, my fave stuff has been with Blah, check out the song Yes He Did
***** although I have seen a lot of High Focus events recently with him included but I guess they are promoting the album...
Lee Scott is completely satirical, if you listen to his music knowing that it becomes something even better.
he's insanely clever with his satire though its not like parody shit like Lil B thats why he's so amazing

Lee Scott is a genius - ever since Antiheros, COTD, Macabre brothers etc......I'm keen as 4 this album

So surprised you muddled your way through the scouse accent! Dante nephilimz I have a feeling he'd enjoy Edward Scissortongue especially.

James Morris-Hind I doubt he'd get anything Edward Scissortongue is on about if he could'nt even get his head around 8 O'clock in the morn
Lee Scott is blah records, 616
Eight O'Clock in the Morning is a straight masterpiece in my opinion. Inspired by the short story by Ray Nelson, it's brilliant.
listen to his earlier stuff with Milkaveli, 'Mcabre Brothers', way more aggressive battle rap style
I like Brit-hop
lately the only american hip hop artist I have been listening to has been Aesop Rock,
Can you cover Aussie and Canadian rappers like Madchild, Seth Sentry, Hilltop hoods or TUKA? even in the one video exploring rap outside america.

An ok review. You should definetly dig through his catalog back to Cult Of The Damned etc.. dude has so many side crew projects. Super talented.
