Dick Cavett has been nominated for eleven Emmy awards (the most recent in 2012 for the HBO special, Mel Brooks and Dick Cavett Together Again), and won three. Spanning five decades, Dick Cavett’s television career has defined excellence in the interview format. He started at ABC in 1968 and also enjoyed success on PBS, USA, and CNBC.
His most recent television successes were the September 2014 PBS special, Dick Cavett’s Watergate, followed April 2015 by Dick Cavett’s Vietnam. He has appeared in movies, tv specials, tv commercials, and several Broadway plays. He starred in an off-Broadway production of Hellmann v. McCarthy in 2014 and reprised the role at Theatre 40 in LA in February 2015.
Cavett has published four books beginning with Cavett (1974) and Eye on Cavett (1983), co-authored with Christopher Porterfield. His two recent books -- Talk Show: Confrontations, Pointed Commentary, and Off-Screen Secrets (2010) and Brief Encounters: Conversations, Magic moments, and Assorted Hijinks(October 2014) are both collections of his online opinion column, written for The New York Times since 2007. Additionally, he has written for The New Yorker, TV Guide, Vanity Fair, and elsewhere.

It's amazing how sensible how correct he was with hindsight Enoch Powell understood completely what the future of the UK was going to be he was NOT against immigration it was MASS immigration that concerned him and his concerns have proved to be reality the Britain that was is gone it's culture it's Heritage it's values it's social structure it's Christian heritage is all either gone or under threat governments past and present have failed miserably to protect Britain from the damaging effects of Foreign
influence so much so that Foreign practices have overtaken the traditional lifestyle of the indigenous population the UK is now unrecognisable as the proud nation that was famed for its loved and respected ancient traditions it's UNIQUE heritage it's freedoms passed down through generations of men and women who rallied fought and won the right to the freedoms that made the UK a moral decent country whose laws were fair and respected and this is what Enoch Powell loved about his country and what he feared could all be lost with unlimited mass immigration and he was so right Britain is no more the Britain we knew and loved is gone

I am a Anglo Saxon, westerm Germanic Celt. I encourage you all to promote your ethicity by using the words yourself, on social media, in conversation and on and forms even if no option is given for you. Start rebuilding our house after the collapse of eurpoean empires where we find ourselves to have no rights and are a victom class who can be policed on while others are shielded from the law. No you are not white british, White German. white american etc. That is a meanless term and a geographic location that used to be synonymous with our race but times have changed. Britain is a market place of ethnicities. You need to know which one you are in orer to negotiate for peace and not find yourself under represented in the law and human rights. If we have no name for ourselves they will and do simply call us white extremists if we make any small complaint of injustice put upon us.
He was reflecting the views of dare I say much of the population at the time who were fearful and ignorant. Two terms which are related in that we fear that which we don't understand. Then there will be others who will use that fear to increase their own status and cause trouble. Listening to him on this interview I don't get that sense but this is only a single interview.
He reminds me a little of William Reese Mogg. Both very intelligent men who actually make some good points. But both are probably best described as Little Englanders who wish for a time that probably never really existed except for the few like them lived in the upper echelons of society.
Some will see him as a racist and maybe he is. But on the basis of this interview I don't think he was intending to be so. But as I said, this is only a single interview so who knows?

So, after listening to this interview with Enoch Powell, it would seem, we are reaping what we once sowed. As according to Mr Powell the immigration problem is basically down to the British ravaging and taking of other countries and thus creating British Empire, which gave the people of these once colonised countries, eventually the commonwealth, the right to come to the UK as a British citizen, yes, the law was eventually changed and this stopped in 1962. However the Irony is incredible, as the very people who wave the Great British flag, see our country through rose tinted glasses and think of themselves as patriots of our once Great British Empire, are the very ones who cry about the immigration problem. They clearly did not envisage that Air travel would (excuse the pun) Take off in the way it did, lol.

@@KidMillions you are thinking of invasion, not immigration. Italy as a territory has been targeted by huge migratory waves and invasions all throughout its history, even modern, and the little identity we can proudly show off is a product of that.
When people migrate they bring with them their customs and values, but inevitably encounter the other's and a compromise is struck, enriching both parties as a result.
Invasions instead force one party's values onto others, but that is what people like this guy have been doing for centuries, not what is happening in Europe.
