Rwanda bill: 'It looks like it's been a waste of money so far' - Gordon Brown

  • Former prime minister Gordon Brown shares his thoughts on the Rwanda bill with Kay Burley and asks "if it's not working, why is all this money being spent on the policy?"
    First though, he talked about a scheme he is leading to help those impacted by the cost of living crisis, saying he is seeing poverty he thought he "wouldn't see in his lifetime again".

      @ravd8082 Imagine they hadn't bailed the banks out for just a moment... Homeowners would have had their houses repossessed. Interest rates would have had to go up, and the money supply would have been shutdown... The Tories wasted years with austerity when they should have invested in infrastructure which has led the UK to have stagnant growth. The problem was the Greenspan deregulation started with Thatcher and Reagan in the 1980s and continued through until now... This basically makes the rich richer and creates a new kind of feudal system.

    Oh how different the country could have been after 2010. Let this be a warning for anyone still remotely tempted to vote Tory this year. Look what they did after 2010, and we're paying the price 14 years later. Labour's messaging might be off and the leader might be not so charismatic, but their heart is in the right place.

      People seem to forget thet even if Csmeron was PM in 2008 that the UK would still have entered what was a totally unavoidable global recession. Cameron and Osbourne both stood up in the Commons and 100% backed Brown's economic measures before the UK entered recession. It was only when it was obvious that the UK was entering recession like the rest of the world that Cameron suddenly changed tack as though the UK would never have entered recession had he been the tory PM which is complete nonsense. It was certainiy not a UK only recession either what the tories claimed,
      And the tories approaching the 2010 general lied that the UK was still in recession when the UK had alresdy out of recession before the end of 2009. Brown brought the UK out of recession, not Csmeron. It onky lasted 5 qusrters. The UK was also in s deep recession in 1992 under Major to prove that deep recessions do happen in the UK under tory governments.
      We are still in a cost of living crisis right now even if the tories are trying to claim it was sll over. The tories crowed avout the 3.9% figure, but now it's jumped 4% it's a huge shock to their system. The tories are lykng about the figure snyway, it's a lot higher than they are claiming. It was only less thsn a year ago that Uk recession was at its highest value since the 1980's and that was under Thstcher's tory government too.

      Labour (and France) have presented a solution, which was turned down by the Tory government. Setting up processing facilities in Calais to prevent people getting onto rickety boats and drowning is absolutely an option, but the Tories believe that the idea of stopping the boats is a stronger vote-winner than actually stopping them. It's mis-governance at its most cynical.

  • @786Atlasworldwide-lb3om
    @786Atlasworldwide-lb3om 4 месяца назад

    Many quoting this is a excellent move. Sunak and all his allies are planning to do this move for these reasons
    To use the people who try to illegally come into UK to fight their way to come into the UK. Let me explain-A group try to come into the UK they get stopped to then have to go to Rwanda. There they will be given option either fight in the wars that are happening or suffer. So then they may get tortured or forced to go into fighting as UK and allies needs fighters. It will reduce what it costs for tax payers this way and benefits the elite bullies.
    If the illegal immigrants fight a war for say 1-2years and stay alive they get granted asylum into UK. If they die then that’s not a worry for the bullies who planned this. There are people who think this is a excellent move, remember the UK and it’s allies will never do anything that doesn’t benefit them. At this current moment in time a war is beneficial which requires troops and no other troops than illegal immigrants is a win win situation as that doesn’t include any of the UK citizens or the citizens of their allies.
