My grandmother lost my grandfather while still in her 50s. She never remarried, never dated. Of course she was asked plenty of times. She's a sweet lady. But she never was interested. Today she's 94 and I know she still misses him from the way she talks about him. It's really heartwarming.

My grandfather was married to his wife for 54 years before she passed and it took almost 2 years for him to get back to living comfortably without her, and he passed just a month ago. They were both 19 when they got married, and just before we went to burry her he kissed her forehead and told her he loved her one last time. He also decorated her grave himself, going to the cemetery every week until he died. The older generation definitely knew love better than we do now. Edit: to those saying sorry for your loss, I appreciate it very much, but they're together now and I'm sure they're happier than ever. I know people for religious and non-religious reasons who have and have been together for decades, and I have friends who also have and have been happily married for several years. It's more likely to work out for adults who know who they are and what they want than teenagers. Just because you don't believe in such a lifestyle doesn't mean you should be degrade people who do. Everyone is different and no one is required to have sex to be an adult, just as people who don't wait are no more adult for it, nor less valuable as people.

My grandmother lost my grandfather while still in her 50s. She never remarried, never dated. Of course she was asked plenty of times. She's a sweet lady. But she never was interested. Today she's 94 and I know she still misses him from the way she talks about him. It's really heartwarming.

My grandfather was married to his wife for 54 years before she passed and it took almost 2 years for him to get back to living comfortably without her, and he passed just a month ago. They were both 19 when they got married, and just before we went to burry her he kissed her forehead and told her he loved her one last time. He also decorated her grave himself, going to the cemetery every week until he died. The older generation definitely knew love better than we do now.

I think it's really easy for it to feel like things are crazier now, that people are more disrespectful than ever. But we just see more of it these days because of the internet. And the internet rewards this kind of behavior. But go outside of the internet in real life, most people are respectful and normal. Speaking from my experience at least.
