I bought a Bosch SDS+ a few weeks ago for pretty much the same reasons you've specified. I'm currently in the middle of DIY renovations, and my trusted combi wasn't cutting it for the purposes I required. I was looking for a Makita, but Amazon had a Lightning Deal on the Bosch, lol. Cool video. 👍

Have a question because I'm looking for buying one for myself. Are the hammer function usable also when using the other chuck. I ask because I found this method can be used in order to drill a hole in a metal sheet, but I have a Dewalt with a chuck adapter - and that adapter is just to heavy for the hammer to properly function.

good video, very useful. So you didn't fancy getting something smaller and lighter? For me I have a combi hammer drill driver and it might just about go through masonry but I need something that will chisel well and the bottom of the range Bosch looks like the chisel function is too weak at 1.7J, even if it is half a kilo lighter. Was that a concrete block at the end where you using the chisel function?

Fabian Dee hey, glad you liked the video! In terms of a lighter option, I’ve got a battery combi hammer as-well. But this was for bigger jobs. Can’t recommend it enough, and yes it was a concrete slab I was chiselling.

@@rickmakesuk yes they are notoriously hard. Enjoy the drill!

@@rickmakesuk I find the combi hammer drill hard work at everything, it doesn't excel in drilling nor driving in screws. I have to put my full body weight behind it. I think I'd be better off using an SDS drill like this for all drilling and then get an impact driver for driving in screws.

@@fabiandee8178 Buy an impact driver for putting in screws. Combi drills are the best option while up a ladder, but for all other occasions, an sds or an impact driver will be better in my experience.

Great video showing the way it works etc. Will any sds drill bits fit, or can you only use makita sds drill bits?
