I just made a gutter downspout extension look like a piece of drift wood by roughing it up even more. (using a drill to make knotholes etc.) I scorched it with a torch (in a well ventilated area) to get the color but it seems like the stain would give you more color options. Any idea if the stain provides any uv protection for the pvc or how long it holds up?
Please add a mention in the description to wear a mask and goggles when sanding the pvc pipe. I found out after I had started following this video's steps that the plastic dust from sanding pvc pipe is toxic. 😞
Thank you so much for this! I had a post with a number of ideas ready to send in but I had to reboot my device and lost the copy I'd made to post after the re-boot. 🤪 Grrrrrr
You don’t have to bend it like that anymore, you can go to a refrigeration wholesaler and they sell offset traps made from PVC. They’re used for A/C drain piping & come in sizes from 1/2”, up to 1” PVC. I believe that a company called Monarch makes them.
I have a black synthetic/plastic rifle stock that I'd like to give a woodgrain finish to. I was thinking about painting it a tan-ish color to lighten it up before staining. Q: Has anyone tried doing this? Any ideas/information would be greatly appreciate.
Devin Casebeer, you need to wipe off the excess stain sooner. Like minutes. You might be able to save what you’ve already done by re-staining and wiping immediately.
I live in Mexico, and wood here does NOT last. Inside or especially outside. I'm planning on replacing a termite ridden handrail down the outside of my house with PVC made to look like wood. It is a relatively common solution here.
Oooh! The thick walled pvc done like would be PERFECT for macrame wall hangings!!!

Can you tell me what wood stain exactly you used that is safe in the water
You have no idea how much you helped me...with the bending pvc techniques...thx a lot
Going to get PVC right now. This is amazing
This is great! Do u think this technique will work on a plastic foldable table (like the one you’re working one)? Thanks you.
Thanks for the video. Going to use it in my children's soft play centre.
Thanks
and now i know how to make my wood hilt for my custom lightsaber on the cheap thank you kind sir

Best technique Ive seen so far. Im definetly going to try it on a few bows.
That's really nice looking. Would this be non toxic afterward to use in a terrarium?
can you clear coat that stain for added durability?
Would you apply clear coat to it? Or leave it as is
Do you sell them? If yes how much would love one for my green tree python?
you sound like steve buscemi

What was the name of the Stain you used?
Can be used outside or will the rain and elements do a quick number on it?
How long will a typical wood stain take to dry/cure on PVC? And what is the best way to suspend/hang a pipe that is drying?
Nukatron stain usualy take 48 hours to dry and maybe a week to be totaly used and abused.
Thanks
EXCELLENT!!!
How durable is the stain finish? Does it wear / scratch easily or is it relatively permanent?
Hmmmm... 8 months and no answer. Seemed like a valid question to me.
patchris07 😢🤣
How long do you let the stain set before wiping off the excess
So Kool!
Yeah, that is cool! I wanted to use 2 pvc poles to hold up a sun shade, but pvc is so damn ugly. I think I found a solution. Thanks!
do you need to stand it up while it dries?
Dark Days Are These when the woodsman is cast aside to the ditch !

What paint do you use

Do u think this would work with black pvc?
Abs is black pipe
is the stain water proof/non toxic for use in bird cages or reptile enclosures?
As long as you allow the stain to completely cure (or dry), then it will not harm animals and it will be water proof.
@@incubatorwarehouse - How long does it take to completely cure?
Great vid!
I like it
what if you have grey pvc
When i use the stain its still tacky feeling even after a day. What am i doing wrong?
Devin Casebeer, you need to wipe off the excess stain sooner. Like minutes. You might be able to save what you’ve already done by re-staining and wiping immediately.
You could also try putting a finishing on it to coat over the tacky stain
Can I use shoe polish instead of stain.
You can. I saw a video on youtube for that method, just try searching "faux wood pvc".
shoe polish can be used but has no durability to speak of
Drill holes and put in fake plant leaves to finish it off.
Cool
Then fill it with metal shot and put a handle on one end and a rubber foot on the other lol
Who's we?
Why does everybody need pvc wood? No wood kicking around?

I check a lot of woodworking handbooks. These one from woodprix are the best.
