It's Taemin's Japanese release which has very little to do with SM. The promotion is on japanese twitter mostly. It just happens that SM suddenly decided to upload this MV from their Japanese partner Universal. This is not common.

actually I thought this mv looked like a animation rather than Jpop video. Even my japanese friends told me his concepts look like a final fantasy or game character, or costume play(or otaku-like i mean in a good way) ., anyway as a Otaku costume player and a kpopper, I totally agree and I love it..omg..he's literally flawless like he's not even a human being

I don't think its necessarily Japanese. Taemin said the theme of this album is orientalism- Western view of the Eastern culture. Its more like a hodgepodge of popularized Eastern elements.
