Mike Davis Senior Recital - Big Butter & Egg Man

Mike Davis present: An Evening with Bix Beiderbecke and Louis Armstrong (or A Senior Recital).
In his final semester at the Manhattan School of Music (as jazz trumpet performance/Bachelor of Music), Michael R. Davis presented a memorable evening program of pieces recorded by two of his greatest influences: Leon Bismark "Bix" Beiderbecke and Louis Armstrong. Selections that evening included "Somebody Stole My Gal", "Riverboat Shuffle", "When You're Smiling" and other danceable classics. The special recital also featured with great privilege an all-star band: Josh Holcomb (Trombone), Pete Anderson (Reeds), Jesse Gelber (Piano), Jared Engel (Banjo), Jay Rattman (Bass Saxophone), David Ostwald (Tuba) and Jay Lepley (Drums). In this clip, they performed Big Butter & Egg Man (by Percy Venable). Featuring guest vocalist Emily Asher. Date: February 10, 2013.

Emily Asher played with Tuba Skinny for a bit in their earlier years, I think in France. First time I've seen her sing; she plays a fine trombone. Great to see young folks playing trad jazz ......
