Hey guys!! I wanted to share a video on what it's like coding in the real world. When you review the same services over and over it gets a lot easier to navigate through your coding manuals. You shouldn't have to refer to the index when the coding gets repetitive. Currently, I have to review 20 charts per hour, so having the right tabs and helpful tips in my book is a time saver!
Let me know in the comments if you prefer shorter (10-15min) or longer videos (25-30min)?

Finally a real video! this is amazing thank you!!! I studied to be a medical coder and currently seeking so this can really help me understand whats in the real world
You are so welcome!
I was just hired as an OBGyn coder and auditor and this is my first time with the specialty. You should create a course. I would buy it.
Congrats!! That’s awesome!! 🎉 I don’t know, maybe later on I’ll look into doing something like that. 🤗
@@ShamyraC do you think I should grab the study guide from AAPC? I’m about to watch all your videos. 🤣
@@sydnetillman7683 if you’re new to OB I’d say yes. That was one of the first things I purchased prior to getting hired as an OB/GYN coder.
How did you become one did you go to trade school or college? I’m looking into it I graduate highschool this year and looking at trade schools.
What are the names of the two books that you have and where can I get them. I’m just starting a course.
I have been watching, thank you for your efforts :) I appreciate the long and the short. It's great that you aren't rushing through the explanation. I appreciate how you demonstrate calmly and you are exact. Thank you again. Keep doing your videos, very good visuals. :)
I appreciate the in depth videos because you provide great explanation as you go through the diagnosis.
I love how your books are color coded and tabbed for easy access. I am in my last semester for coding course. I will now mark my books. Thanks for sharing 😊❤
I've been watching your videos, I love the way you explain. I'm learning so many things from you. Thank you so much!
I can stop looking at your book notes they're magnificent, good work.
Listen you are a lifesaver i love how organized u are and how you made notes for quick finds thankyou for posting this its so helpful
Loving these cases. This is a good length but Ill take anything! Keep em coming :)
Love your videos!!! I’ve been coding OB/GYN for over five years but I’m taking my certification in March. Your videos helps so much.
Thank you!! Good luck on your exam and thanks for supporting my channel. I’m glad you’re enjoying my content. 🤍
I'm currently learning and welcome both short and long cases. Thank you for sharing.
I really like these types of videos!! You can definitely make them a bit longer. It gives more of a realistic view of the different cases you encounter on a daily basis 💕
Thank you! OK, good to know! My next one will be longer! ☺️
I like the longer videos as I listen as I study but I do like seeing how you code. Makes it much easier to see how what I am learning is applied. Thank you - Selina
I love these videos. Short or long doesn't make a difference for me because I watch them all LOL. Watching you makes me want to try coding, but it intimidates me LOL
Yay! Thank you! I completely agree with you. When I first moved to the coding department for data entry I seen their coding books and I was like “oh my gosh! I don’t think I’ll ever become a coder” and look at me now! lol It’s a journey but you get more and more comfortable along the way. 😉
I love both the long and the short videos, I'm learning from both. Thank you so much for what you do!
Ok, cool! Next one will be longer. 😉
Seeing this confirmed that this is what I'm choosing to go back to school for. Thanks for the excellent video
Excellent video, excellent explanations, and excellent video length. I love looking at all your notes in your book. Thank you for all your work :)
You're very welcome! & thank you for watching and supporting! The next one will be much longer than this one but feel free to take breaks and come back to it. 😉
Your videos really make me want to go into OBGYN. You make it so fun!!!
Thanks! I really love this specialty ☺️
Thank you for making this video ☺️ I appreciate the time and effort put into it 💕
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Perfect, thank you. This looks like an enjoyable job, I might go for it!
This was an EXCELLENT presentation!!!
The knowledge always help in several different jobs.
This was so helpful and straight to the point. Thanks
Thank you for this video it was sooo good to see coding in real life and I’m still learning no cert yet but your notes for both the dx and cpts are amazing!
Im thinking about getting into this field this video was short informative and to the point . Yes more videos like this will be helpful
These videos are so helpful!! Thank you for sharing :)
Thank u so much!!!!! I’ve been looking for a video such as this!!!
You got a new subs :)
Thank you for sharing! Short or long does not matter to me. I just like to see how its done. You make it look so easy.
You’re welcome! lol These are the easy ones! I’ll be sharing more now that I know you guys like these “real life” examples. The next one will be longer! 🤗
More vids like this, pls. The length is perfect. Thank u
This was cool. Im just starting my course for coding, but i used to work as an insurance claims processor, this is my first time seeing things from the other side! Thanks
How’s it going if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve been looking into making this my career
I like these videos they are informative and you get straight to the point , you read dialogs then show the diagnosis code no Long drawn out advice which yours is better short very Nicely done. 🎉
Thank you! 🩷
I prefer the longer videos, but the short are great too. Thanks!
Noted! The next one will be longer! ☺️
Thank you so very much I was beginning to understand but was unsure of the big picture I was going to be achieving. More please lol

I am new to your channel and just subscribed. I absolutely love this video! You answered some questions for me that I deal with on the daily. I’ll have to look through your channel to see if you have a video on how you tab your books. I love the way you have them done and would greatly enjoy a video on how you do them.
Thank you very much for this video and I look forward to seeing more. Take care and blessed be. ✨✨✨
Welcome to my channel & thank you for subscribing! That’s great! I’m glad to hear that this was helpful to you. I do have a video on how I tab my coding books but it’s OBGYN related. Were you able to find it? if not, you can find it in my Coding Playlist. ☺️

You made it look so easy. I hope I can learn coding quickly.tnx so much.
It takes time! Probable a little over a year before you get a good understanding. The more you do it the better you’ll get. Coding is forever changing. 🙂
Thank you for this video. I just recently up and decided to switch careers 😅 and I am taking my first medical coding course. Thank you for sharing. This video, your page, is inspiring and insightful 💛

This video was cool in concept, actually going through the passages and applying both the diagnostic code as well as the procedure code. I only ask that you allow the camera to focus more on the codes once you have located them so we can absorb what we are seeing. Excellent work
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Feel free to pause the video if I’m going too fast. Editing sometimes will take longer depending on the length of the video. So I try to use less “freeze screens” but on your end you can pause and zoom in with your fingers if you need to. 😊
Thank you! I'm studying to get my certification for coding. I don't know where exactly I'll end up, and I'm assuming the answer to my proceeding question might be different depending on that. But, how do you report them after you've found the codes you need? Is there a software that tou input the codes into? Do you put the codes into an excel sheet and email them to someone? Basocally, how do you hand off the codes you found to the medical biller?
I am aspiring to be a Medical Coder and going through your video made me wanna be a 💯 thank you for the thorough walk thru 👏❤️
You’re welcome! Best of luck on your journey! 🤍
Very helpful I loved this video I’m in Sjvc an I’m doin medical billing and coding class
Thank you! Best of luck on your journey!
If I am just getting started can I use older books to use to study and take exam with or would I need to buy the current year's coding books for exams? I love your videos by the way!! You do a great job at explaining everything!
I’m transitioning into this career and I’m excited !
Yayyy!!! Best of luck on your journey!! 🩷
Omg!!! If I could just note my book like yours!!!
😆 It definitely takes time. I still add notes to this day lol.
New subscriber to your channel I'm going soon for medical coding thanks for this great information
Thank you! You’re so welcome and wishing you the best! 💚
I just started coding classes and this helps a lot. How many cases do you code in a day?
Love this video , the way you explained everything was just phenomenal..you made it so easy n gave us confidence ❤
I have a question ..it sound so basic n sorry for this..we code diagnosis n procedure code here..do we have to code En M codes also for encounter in real cases when actually we are coding ?thank you
Great vids, thank you for sharing!!
Glad you enjoyed!
This was great! thank you!
Thank you! & You’re welcome ☺️
This is amazing subscribed !!!!
Thank you!
This video was great. Thank you so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love it thank you have a nice day ❤
Thank you! You do the same. ☺️
I love the longer case
Same take your time love the detail explanation and walk throughs
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Can you do more of these? I’m working on getting certified this summer
Everyone! I am currently a medical coder and this job will slowly phased out now. I worked in one of the biggest hospital in NOVA and we used computers now to code the single visits such as lab, pathology and radiology. Even series and infusion. What I do now is just to review the codes. Same goes with inpatient and ED. We mostly do reviews now for all the accts that failed medical necessity or accts that failed from the computer coding. That’s why we no longer hire new coder or replaced the coder who retired.
Do you get paid a decent amount? And how long did you go to school?
Its about 85-100k a year. More than many medical professionals make that have actual patient contact .
@lehcawl do you currently still work for this hospital and where is it located?? I’m interested in getting my CPC certification but I’m asking advice everywhere b4 committing to the $$ to get the certification because I don’t want to waste more time! Thanks!
What do you mean the job will phase out?
@@ambitiousbeauty1013 Meaning medical coder jobs will slowly disappear. They will be replaced by AI.
What you gonna do with the codes? Did you enter it into a computer data? And send it to the doctor's office?
Did it require you to obtain the OBGYN credential to work in that specialty? I'm still in school for coding, and want to work in cardiology coding.
I am finishing up my classes and about to take my CCA exam. I went into the schooling hoping to be able to do this at home with my daughter (of course with a little help) but now it's seeming like I won't be able to for the first few years... How long did it take you to be able to get the opportunity to stay home to work?
Love the video
Thank you!
I just want to say that omg! We have the same name and now I am going to watch all of your videos!!! Lol. My name is rare so excuse my excitement lol
Oh wow!! Hey!! 👋🏾 that’s so cool. I don’t see our name that often either 🤭 lol
@@ShamyraC lol Right! and your content is extremely helpful. Thank you!
I prefer longer because of the fact there may be more ICD10 codes needed like the birth in the car
Thank you for being extremely detailed in your videos, it's greatly appreciated. Please keep up the great work!
Perspective Student from Deer Park TX
Are you strictly a coder? Do you just do this part and send it to them or do you do some kind of billing as well?
Very helpful like long videos
Thank you!!
What to you do with codes from tablet? I was watching trying to see how folks take data from chart and make notes of the codes, I am in class still so I write in the workbook or on a tablet but I wanted to see if I could create a worksheet to use in real life! Thank you!
GREAT JOB
Thank you!
I love this long video.
Thank you!
I think the length is perfect. I can’t sit through 20-30 min videos lol I need a little breaky break.
I LIKE LONGER VIDEOS AND MORE CASE STUDIES AND HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN TO CODE A DIAGNOSES CODE AND CPT CODE
It’s rare sending a claim with no diagnosis. I have never done it but I have seen it before, I just can’t remember what CPT was used.
All the coding I do has diagnoses with a cpt code.
It was very helpful to see where the ex is coming from and to watch the analysis. The one other thing I’m trying to understand is what you are looking for in the notes. I understood the one with the placenta, but otherwise I didn’t see where you were able to glean something helpful. Years ago I paid ER claims and had to read the notes for determining whether it was a legitimate emergency visit. Can you explain your purpose and what types of things you’re looking for when you’re skimming the record. Along with that, I have two more questions, is it just your experience where you’re getting your written notes from that are in your books, or did you learn those specifics in school? On the third case you had a J code in your book for the name of the medication (bc) the were removing. Do you use the medication code, as well?
When skiming through the note I’m looking for complications or things that are being addressed by the doctor. It’s kind of hard to explain without an example.
Yes, my notes are from experience over the years. I didn’t go to school for medical coding.
If the procedure was only for removal then I would not bill the J-code because they didn’t insert anything.
So I'm very interested in doing this and I really like reading the procedures, looking to go to school for this but when I speak to the coordinators at colleges they tell me how very difficult the course study is.
Thank you!
Thanks for the video... I'm doing an online course in Medical billing and coding and this video was very helpful.
Is there a practice version of the coding and billing software that I can download for practicing purpose?
Yeah I like this video too very simple not hard like in class
I need my book marked like yours with the writing by the code. I recently graduated and preparing for the state test.
😂 I have videos in my coding playlist where I flip through page by page showing what I have written in my book. It’ll take a while but once you have it, you’re good! 😊
These videos are good
This is top-flight content. A book I read with similar depth had a profound influence on me. "Game Theory and the Pursuit of Algorithmic Fairness" by Jack Frostwell
Did you make that book , if not where can i get it ??
What do you do with codes after you get the code?
I Love both
Thank you for the video! What equipment is needed to be a remote medical coder? Do you find yourself needing to make phone calls at all?
You’re welcome. Everything I have has been provided by my employer. If I had to provide my own equipment I’d make sure I had 2 screen monitors for sure. I have a DELL computer.
Thank you!
I really enjoyed it
Thank you!
@@ShamyraC Your welcome
i like your tabs idea
Thank you!
I’m struggling (in school right now) when to know how to add anesthesia codes in. For the second patient it says under general anesthesia. So how do we know when anesthesia is included/vs it needing to be reported with the procedure? I don’t feel like my school program is that great. My teacher literally told me to use RUclips if I’m confused and never answers my emails. I’m in my last week of school and feeling so unprepared. If anyone has an explanation k would appreciate it so much!
This really helps. I am a student in my 4th year at FTC college and I do online school. Sometimes the coding is hard to pick up because the classes are different and not always associated with coding. I would really like to see more hands on videos like this that review the diagnostic report and how you find the codes in CPT and ICD10, in longer segments. Also I know the rule of thumb is you have to update your books every year, however if you cannot afford to do you ever use online ICD10 or CPT codes? Or do you just buy the books every year or are you provided them by your employer?
I wanna know why there is only 1 code for CPT on the first case? how to do this? very confused.
Do you have a video or blog on all the side “cheat” notes you have in your books?
Hi Stephanie! I have a video of the tips written in my book related to OB/GYN. I don’t have many notes in the other areas of my book. I typically only add notes for procedures/surgeries that I code on a day to day. Here is the video in case you’re interested. 🙂

I have been waiting to see just this. I have Associates in Medical billing, Coding , and Transcription in 2015. Couldn’t get a job because they wanted someone with Expetience. My grades were phenomenal. Now I’m getting a Bachelor’s in Healthcare Management specializing in Gerontology. I need a job in the fields I went to school for. My professor is like my friend and she is telling me to do the certification. I took AACP exam didn’t pass, now she is telling me about Ahima… What is your advice?
I’m getting my ccs while working in a hospital and getting associates in HIM😅
I’m thinking about going to school for billing and coding but it seems so hard 🥺
