I like the chitter-chatter! It makes the video feel more alive and engaging, instead of a boring, monotone tutorial video!

You could be TV host! As an inventor professional there is 90% things that I alredy know, but the way you present your videos is hilarious and allway enjoyable to watch. And yes there is always that something that I'm not familiar with, so thank you!!!

Wow, this pretty much answered all the possible questions I could have about shrinkwrap and derive. Thankfully, we both have Inventor 2016, because I didn't know they hid shrinkwrap under the component tab!

Superb! Yes watched all the way through. I tried Shrinkwrap when it first came out & thought it was crap. Not tried it since but now been tasked with supplying small files to externals without our IP going out as well. Thanks very much. I'll do some experimenting. Jim

As allways a grrreat video! Really helpful, thnx a lot! 💪💪💪A thing I am getting across every now and then is the need to calculate the total paint area of the parts included in an assembly. Have seen that there are code-crackin-I-something solutions to that, but never got to really make it work.. May you have a better hands-on solution to calculate paint area for an assembly?
Keep on with all your magnificent tutorials! 👊

Neil, is there any way with any of the simplification methods to retain the mass properties (mass, CG, inertias) of the assembly in the simplified .ipt file? Thanks!

I don't have the ability to test this at the moment but if you use level of detail to show what you need in a drawing, I would also shows view info under the drawing were I was expected to show info like material, scale title or show total mass which would be linked from the model level of detail but if you were to use view rep does it still reference that sort of info?

Around 14 minutes, you mention that you need to make an unlocked view rep to exclude parts., however un-checking the associative button will allow you to do this whether the rep is locked or not. There is no need to open the model and make a new view rep unless you want it to be associative.

Neil, if you don't break the link how do you put the new file into Vault without also adding to Vault all the original files and assembly?

  • @justingt3rs

is this the same as saving a solidworks assembly as a part ? you cant do that in inventor?

Who would lock the default view?
The default is unlocked view so you can use for everyday design. And if you need a special view then created one and lock.
