My badi dadi's house was completely washed out in 2004, she used to live with her son and husband near the port area . Thanks to god every one was safe.
Contrary to comments here that this video is of the "remnants" and is a "damp squid" this is actually a historical video. The tsunami caused severe devastation in the Andaman and Nicobar islands, some of the islands were rendered uninhabitable, one of the islands Trinkat was virtually cut in half. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands were close to the epicenter of the earthquake, and along with Sumatra were the coasts first hit by the Tsunami and experienced it at it's fieriest. The Tsunami hit within 10 minutes of the quake occurring. The Tsumani waves reached up to 10 metres high in one of the islands, Car Nicobar. What this video shows is that depending on the topography and geography of the coast, the tsumani hit with varying intensity. The Tsumani still caused severe flooding in Port Blair , but not the destruction of the severity experienced elsewhere in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This is one of the few videos of the Tsunami as it hit the Andaman and Nicobar islands, and is a rare and historic video of this incredibly destructive event. I am glad the cameraman survived, and I hope his family did too. Thank you for posting.

Tsunami b aik trha ka toofan hai jo pura ka pura city destroye kr skta hay ye leher gehre samundar mai bhokamnp zlzla aane se paida hota hai ye boht taqatwar or boht long wave hoti hai. Ye wave hazar kilo meter se zayda tk ka safar tay kr skyi hai

We faced, it all came in night. I had my cousin who lived there for 20 years. It was a terrible incident. Portblair was saved because of ross island which deviated the waves. It is estimanted that 1/3 of the nicobar population died

Port blair is located in the opposite site of island from the epicenter, which is the source of the tsunami
