Actually pokemon eating pokemon isn't cannibalism. It does confirm in multiple pokedex entries that pokemon eat other pokemon as a prey and predator relationship. Edit: example: Sylveon uses its ribbons to attract prey.
I'd consider something like Charmander eating another Charmander cannibalism, but not Charmander eating a Caterpie. Would a Charizard eating a Charmander be cannibalism? Yeah, probably.

Instead of doing my CS homework, I went through the transcript and translated all of Missingno's binary messages. Kinda interesting because sometimes the absorbed pokemon talk and sometimes Missingno itself talks. First Missingno identifies itself: 17:41 is just a number sign, and 17:54 is "#missing" (i.e., missing number; Missingno). Then we get more evidence that becoming a part of Missingno is painful: 18:02-18:04 is a scream, and 46:22-46:23 is "so much pain". 46:39 wasn't encoded properly and is untranslatable, but it's a part of another scream, so it fits the theme. When Haunter gets absorbed into Missingno at 46:41, Missingno comments on it by saying "aquired" (spelled like that). Then Missingno has a bit of a conversation with Charmander at 46:55: Charmander: "I went along with your... spooky thing or whatever. So now it's your turn." Missingno: "we are" Charmander: "You're a Pokemon just like me! And Pokemon FIGHT! SO FIGHT ME!" Missingno: "i am" Huh, so Missingno thinks it's fighting Charmander. This probably means Charmander and Missingno will end up directly fighting at some point (although Mewtwo implies that too by telling Charmander that it's his responsibility to clean everything up). As Mewtwo beats back Missingno, the glitch identifies itself one last time at 47:23, this time simply as "missing". Aaah, I love this series. Keep up the amazing work, Shippiddge! EDIT: I've been thinking about this some more, and I'm starting to wonder about Missingno's "we are" and "i am". Who exactly is "we?" Is it just the combination of Missingno+Hitmonchan+Haunter (and not Charmander at all)? And whoever "we" is, what are they doing? That line makes less and less sense the more I look at it, and it doesn't fit with what Charmander is saying at all. The only way I can think to rationalize it is that it's paired with "i am" - Missingno is saying that "I" and "we" are the same, indicating that it is one with the pokemon it "aquired." But this has problems too - has this not already been established (at least visually)? And above all, why would Missingno be saying this to Charmander? Maybe the last three comments are all meant to be read together: "we are, i am, missing." That's poetic, sure, but equally cryptic...
I have a theory..... Charmander was abused by a trainer before being caught to the lab. Edit: after analyzing better... in ep.8 when charamnder is trapped in the tower,we see a shadow that might be charmander’s trainer seeing his reaction is like ash’s charmander: he is loyal to his trainer but charmander had a different reaction he started to hate him and kill him. Instead of doing my CS homework, I went through the transcript and translated all of Missingno's binary messages. Kinda interesting because sometimes the absorbed pokemon talk and sometimes Missingno itself talks. First Missingno identifies itself: 17:41 is just a number sign, and 17:54 is "#missing" (i.e., missing number; Missingno). Then we get more evidence that becoming a part of Missingno is painful: 18:02-18:04 is a scream, and 46:22-46:23 is "so much pain". 46:39 wasn't encoded properly and is untranslatable, but it's a part of another scream, so it fits the theme.
When Haunter gets absorbed into Missingno at 46:41, Missingno comments on it by saying "aquired" (spelled like that). Then Missingno has a bit of a conversation with Charmander at 46:55:
Charmander: "I went along with your... spooky thing or whatever. So now it's your turn."
Missingno: "we are"
Charmander: "You're a Pokemon just like me! And Pokemon FIGHT! SO FIGHT ME!"
Missingno: "i am"
Huh, so Missingno thinks it's fighting Charmander. This probably means Charmander and Missingno will end up directly fighting at some point (although Mewtwo implies that too by telling Charmander that it's his responsibility to clean everything up).
As Mewtwo beats back Missingno, the glitch identifies itself one last time at 47:23, this time simply as "missing".
Aaah, I love this series. Keep up the amazing work, Shippiddge!
EDIT: I've been thinking about this some more, and I'm starting to wonder about Missingno's "we are" and "i am". Who exactly is "we?" Is it just the combination of Missingno+Hitmonchan+Haunter (and not Charmander at all)? And whoever "we" is, what are they doing? That line makes less and less sense the more I look at it, and it doesn't fit with what Charmander is saying at all. The only way I can think to rationalize it is that it's paired with "i am" - Missingno is saying that "I" and "we" are the same, indicating that it is one with the pokemon it "aquired." But this has problems too - has this not already been established (at least visually)? And above all, why would Missingno be saying this to Charmander? Maybe the last three comments are all meant to be read together: "we are, i am, missing." That's poetic, sure, but equally cryptic...
