hi just popping in from america to say that channels like this matter so much and will matter so much more in the coming years. the left wing media apparatus is non existent, corporations aren't even bothering with rainbow capitalism anymore, and actors/celebrities are increasingly staying silent. we need grassroots creators like this channel to keep doing the work to reach people.
The actor's hairline is receding quickly, and he's relatively young for it. Most guys struggle with that and go through a number of awkward hairstyles until they finally just shave it back or otherwise cut it short. Or get a transplant or a piece.
IDK, naming dogs with human names is peak hilarity to me. :D Like, you're at the park, people around, and you are there shouting, "John! John! Come to papa! No, John! Leave that poop. Come on, John! Granpa is comming we need to go!" LOL
@@salemoh9759 Aussies with a roast 😭 (A lot of us have moved to seafood and salad platters instead of roasts, European and Middle Eastern sweets and cold berry puddings instead of Plum pudding with custard, and a strawberry in a glass of champagne sorry sparkling wine instead of brandy/hot alcohol/eggnog drinks. Summer Christmas as exemplified by Tm Minchin’s White Wine In The Sun)
Josh is honestly right to be worried about fireworks and fires. It hasn’t (and I imagine won’t) come up in the show, but in Solitaire (Tori’s novel) fireworks getting out of control and causing injuries amongst the teens is a plot point! I won’t spoil the other time fire comes up in the book, but iykyk lol
In a couple of episodes-- the one with the bonfire (2x3) and this one -- I too *noted* the fire hazards (to myself). I live in California, where, throughout my lifetime (I'm 73), there have been annual fire seasons. And in the last few years, they have been increasingly bad. Some have been set off by a variety of 'triggers' (most being through carelessness) and in at least one recent year that I can remember, a whole town was leveled. I suspect that England is a lot wetter, and maybe the citizens are more careful about creating clearings and not tossing matches around...
I used to dread Christmas Day growing up. We had such a large family around us, with many cousins, aunts, uncles etc coming to the house. I hated the moment when they would ask if I had a girlfriend yet, and this was around 1999/2000 when things were only very very slowly getting better for LGBTQ+ people, but a lot of homophobia around when I was a teenager back then. New Year's Eve was always better, when I was with my friends.
I love the conversations around sex that this season has, particularly with Elle and Tao (but it applies to everyone in a way), because sex can be awkward and scary at that age (it can be awkward enough between adults), but that doesn't make it any less exciting and I'd imagine there could be a whole extra level to it for someone who's trans (I'm not trans and can't really speak to that from personal experience, but would assume that it could feel even more complicated and potentially confusing than it already is in general). Normalizing the conversations around those types of things is so important for young people to see (and just people in general tbh). These "kids" have had such mature and open conversations about such things (that most adults can't even really discuss tbh), and I really appreciate the care and effort that's been given to exploring such topics ❤
When I was a teen in the 70s, I had a friend who named their cat Hashish, realized her folly when she was standing outside her apartment call the cat. There are only so many dog names to go around. Yasmin is in 4 episodes of Doctor Who.
Thank god you said "you have to put yourself first" when charlie walked out of his house and went to nicks.... bc a lot of people even fans are saying things like it was not fair on tori, and charlie was being selfish and making it a big deal. I was so SURPRISED when i hear that bc charlie literally just walked out and didnt make an argument. I would have probably yell at everyone and make it really unconfortable :D
It is so sad to see David here, really wanting his father to come to dinner for Christmas. The inevitable failure of his father must be crushing for both brothers. David seems to hold his father on a pedestal which his father does not deserve.
I guess David misses his father more than Nick because he was older when their parents split up. I don't think he gets along with his mother as well as Nick does. That makes him feel left out. So he is in a sad position. But that should not be a reason for beeing a homophobic idiot.
@@schuhschrank947 Some guys like him just simply don't understand gay people. They have been brought up by a parent and friends to be hard as nails and straight. However I remember Alice saying, David does come round to accepting Charlie as Nick's boyfriend. He may never be a strong friend, but the ice does thaw and a little bit of respect comes from him.
Speaking of dog names, an old friend of mine wanted to call his dog I Like Shouting, just so he could stand in a park and call out “I like shouting!” Also, I had a such a visceral reaction to David appearing on my screen. Even before he turned around at the table and we saw his face I knew it was him and I was instantly consumed with rage. Credit to the actor for making him so genuinely unlikable!
A friend of mine lived in a sort of communal house in northern California (in the late 1960s-early 1970s). One of her housemates had a dog named "Snatch." Some laughed, others cringed, whenever he called the dog home. 🤣
Agree on David and that not all characters have to be redeemed! Although I must say, as someone who grew up with a similar type of dad, I still understand him a tiny bit? Not the being an arse but just this very very sad belief in that the he will eventually show up. I relate to being so childishly optimistic, it's just so strange once you realise what's actually happening, like waking up and wondering how you didn't see it sooner. Nick has realised he won't show up (and my baby brother did faster than I did too), but until David gets to that realization himself, my guess is he'll keep being terrible and that's just quite authentic (and again, very very sad) in my eyes. Thanks for a wonderful reaction, keeping me company on a boring train ride ❤️🥰
Love these reactions so much, you two are both gems. As a fellow Dr Who fan I wanna remind everyone that The Doctor had a gay kiss way back in 2005 with Captain Jack, who is a fantastic character. I don’t know about the original series but the reboots have certainly always been rather queer. And I would totally turn up for any Dr Who reactions! Anyway off to binge your OFMD reactions
I like some human names for pets. It depends. My dogs are Panda (toy poodle), Smudgr (Great Dane), Bodger (lab mix pup), and Lucy (possible heeler mix).Lucy was my daughter’s dog but her activity level was overwhelming for my grandson who is autistic so now she’s mine. My cats are Soupy, Tilly, and Pip, all named by same grandson. And yes, I have too many pets. 😂
Guys, please turn on the subtitles! I want to be able to understand everything. This is my favorite episode of Season 3; I’ve been looking forward to it so much!
I've been waiting for this reaction from you both you are two of my favorite reactors. I agree with you Alex where is the bloody gravy !!!!!!!! Love from Australia.
And David overtakes Ben and Harry in the most hated character race. Good to see somebody with some sympathy? understanding? of Charlie's family. I wonder whose bed Elle and Tao commandeered.
Yeah, you can see the generational emotional/mental illness cycle now really clearly, especially if you’ve had personal/professional experiences. As an asthmatic, every time I see a pug dog my chest starts hurting in sympathy for trying to suck air through that extremely constricted nasal passage. Like trying to suck air from underwater through a straw. Per Elle’s story, another Thank Universe for Alice Osman and Heartstopper. The world needed this show so badly. I found out recently Alice, the author of the Solitaire/Heartstopper universe also was on set every day and consulted on things like all the details in the bedrooms, the clothes, the mannerisms of the characters. (No Kit Connor, you cannot sometimes say ‘hello’ to Charlie to change things up). So I think the missing gravy is very intentional and you’re supposed to notice.
Turns out, after Kit commented about wanting to change things up by saying 'hello' but being rebuffed --- in season 3, Nick says "Hello" a couple of times, and Charlie says it back once. The context is a little different, though. The usual "Hi-hi" (or occasional "hey-hey") was used as an affectionate greeting after they had not seen each other for a while (whole days or longer). The breathy Hi-Hi exchange (after the first few times they used it) became a sort of stand-in for an unspoken "I love you." So it made absolute sense to insist on keeping the Hi-Hi. But Nick said "Hello" in 3x1 when he went to sit by Charlie at the beach (when he noticed Charlie was having trouble eating). I'm not sure which episode the other happened; I'm thinking it happened during Charlie's birthday party (3x6). Nick was sitting off by himself in a chair drinking what looked like orange soda. Charlie (who seemed a bit drunk) sidled over to him, sat on his lap, and kissed him. Then they said "Hello-hello". If it was there, Alice likely approved it, though.
@@slm_766 definitely picked up on the initial breathy Hi-Hi as a conscious crush and an unconscious mirroring/crush, that settled into a coded love language ❤
I love the idea that Torri arrived upset and Nick just sat her down and handed her a pug.
