    It's never easy working on your back outside and when you have to lift a part up from underneath a vehicle and fit it on your own it can be a real nasty job. Great video young man!

    Another Warren video!!! The best mechanic on RUclips!!!
    I don't know if you sleep but I hope you get a little shut eye.
    Just finishing watching this video and can't wait for the next.
    God has blessed you in many ways and hope all is well with you and the family.
    I hope you'll be able to take a vacation with the family this summer but I do realize you have to make hay when the sun shines. Have a great week!!!

    I think they put the filter after the relief, because it has a constant maximum flow. If you are using a tipper there is two much oil for the filter to handle on the down stroke.

    • @andrewkiefer2553
      @andrewkiefer2553 3 года назад

      Filter goes on the return side after the coupler bar return side hose before going to the tank

  • @davefontes8532
    @davefontes8532 4 года назад +2

    I would think there is a control valve on the trailer that would port the oil to return when not in use. I think you said it was some kind of belt drive, so when the valve is activated the oil is ported to a Hydraulic motor, then to the return. Usually there is a relief valve on the pump, but I couldn't see one. So like you said, you need a relief valve on the truck, so if the pump was engaged without the hoses hooked up, it would not blow up the pump. Being that the flow is constant, I would think that a high flow filter in the return to the tank would be what you need there. Maybe its just me, but I would have removed pump first, then mount the PTO. Save that old back for another day. Great videos. Keep em comin.

    I would suggest Filter on the return as you said, it's low pressure (just make sure it can handle the volume) and will filter the oil back to tank in the event of a failure in any part of the circuit. Can always go into bypass if required with the good quality filter/base.

    I don’t know if you’ll see this Warren. But the problem you’ve mentioned in other videos, about go pros going out on ya. I was wondering if you had one of the water proof cases for it? Because you could only speculate, but i think your getting liquids down inside of them, and that might be why the sound is going out on ya. For example the lens and the actual case of the camera would have a small enough gap even if you can’t see it with the naked eye, it would be there. That is assuming you don’t have one or haven’t tried it before. All of your attachments will still work for it, just know that’s what people use for their motorcycles for example. Just figured i would pass it on, and if it works could save ya money

    G'day Warren,
    I've done hundreds of truck hydraulic setups, if you need any info/photos shoot me an email: subarusti_@hotmail.com
    In an ideal world, you'd run 2 filters, one of feed and one on return. Most people run a single filter due to cost and it's always on the return back to tank, especially on tipper setups.
    Tipper wants 2500psi relief, 1'' feed and return lines and 1 1/4'' suction for pump.
    installing PTO without pump is way easier too, those PTOs are damn heavy when ya got not alot of room to move.
    We always only ran one thick and one thin gasket, grease them together and stick to bottom of housing then lift PTO for easiest install.

    How is the motor grader doing?
    We always ran the filters on the return. If running the filter on the bypass then only bypass oil is filtered. Plus on a external filter I would rather filter lower pressure in case of a rupture.

    Western Truck guy! I like the vids and commentary. I run a small auto repair and small engines etc outfit...not the point. When i have bolts to hold up or are just awkward...I'll put a rubber band around the threads to hold em, them once I get the threads started cut the band and pull it out. Works for keeping bolts arranged in a unit during disassembly too.

    Just a quick comment not really a mechanical one. I notice these days many people use the word “ way” incorrectly. Way this and way that. Way more than, instead of far more or much more, etc. I suppose that goes along with the failure of our language. He went that way or that is the way this is done, for example.

    How to keep oil from running out of a tank when you disconnect a line with no shut off. Saw that done by using a shop vacuum. Padded the hose with cloth strips, stuck in the top of tank and turned vacuum on. Created enough pull to hold the oil in tank, no loss when line disconnected.
