They are plants that grow naturally in California, they would be perfect for your yard. And they would attract a lot wildlife and give you the best garden.

Generally speaking, you don't want to surround trees by rocks as it can prevent their root system from getting sufficient nutrition

But trees get their nutrients through the roots in the soil? So, having bricks on top of the soil won't make any difference
