  • Let's talk about Horween's Chamois leather. Chamois is a combination tanned, oiled nubuck leather from Horween. The reverse side of the Chamois has become a popular option on many Alden makeups.

    I'm trying to get a handle on how the new Bronze Horween Chamois leather looks, have you seen a sample ? I'm thinking of getting a pair of Russell Moccasin boots and am on the fence about the look of the bronze and how it will darken.

    I have a pair of BENZEIN Stride boots in Horween Black Chamois and there is a ton of grain and character, you could mistake it for kudu. Must be from stretching it over the last.🤷‍♂️🤘😎

    For your boot that’s just a bit too light send it to get a patina.

    Hey Phil Did you ever check out the calf cordovan? And if so why doesn’t horween offer that?

    • @AshlandLeather
      @AshlandLeather  3 года назад

      I’m still not familiar with calf cordovan. It’s my understanding that shell cordovan only comes from the hindquarters of equine animals and not calfskin. I’m probably just unaware of the term you are using. Can you share some info on calf cordovan?

      @@AshlandLeather it's calf that's finished like shell cordovan with rollers, etc. So basically a type of corrected grain calf.

    Wouldn't it best be described as a highbrow latigo?

    • @AshlandLeather
      @AshlandLeather  3 года назад +1

      Ive never heard the term highbrow latigo. The generic term for the type of leather that the horween chamois is would be called an “oiled nubuck”

    Bro. Is Horween Navy chamois can be shine?

    • @AshlandLeather
      @AshlandLeather  3 года назад +1

      The grain side of the chamois doesn't get too bright any shiny unless you apply a waxy polish to it (that kind of defeats the purpose of using Chamois). The REVERSE Chamois has a pretty cool sheen to it. It's not as bright and shiny when compared to a "traditional" shiny leather but it has a really cool "shimmer" to it
