Please, please, please don't put out an open feeder in the city! This system only works safely when you can be pretty sure that only your own bees will visit the feeder. Just imagine the following scenario: a bee infected with American foulbrood (AFB) visits the feeder and contaminates it with AFB spores. Bees from other colonies take the sugar water and AFB spores back to their hives. If AFB is detected in a hive in Qld, the whole colony has to be DESTROYED. Your feeding could be the cause for thousands and thousands of DEAD BEES and several heartbroken beekeepers! If you want to help the bees, try to always have something 'bee friendly' flowering in the garden. Even in the smallest courtyard there's room for a pot of flowers...
Hey mate. I use buckets here in oz as well. The bucket you used isnt uv stabilised and will crumble apart in 1-2 years. The one that you said you didnt like the lip is a better type of plastic. Thanks
Wow the macro footage at the end was amazing John, very cool stuff. I would suggest a brick be put on top - well the bottom of the inverted bucket, to keep the bucket in play if it got windy. I'm guessing you have watched Joe May as this was one of his very cool ideas. Cheers for the fun, Stay safe!
This my friend is ingenious! I'm brand spanking new to bee keeping,.. so much so that I don't have a hive at the moment but in a couple of weeks Nov 7th it will be my 60th birthday and I want bees for my gift,.. I never ask for gifts but this is what I want this year,.. I'm in Whyalla and would love to visit you in SA while we're here and have the opportunity! I'm loving all your videos, and have become your newest subscriber. All I need to do now is gather together all the bits I'm going to need to start my own backyard hive. Please let me know where I can get a bargain or second hand stuff and a GOOD bee suit. I'd appreciate it Mark! :)
It may or may not work with a hot glue gun as well....assuming for both the silicone used and the hot glue that nothing leaches out into the bee feed. As no sense poisoning the ladies with anti mold silicone ingredients etc when you are trying to feed them. Fun video as always :)
So many laughs ty

Omg this cracked me up
I’m here for knowledge and the fantastic entertainment!
I live in the middle of a small "city" and don't have hives. Would it be okay for me to feed the local bees? And what ratio of water and sugar?
Would love to know too, I'd also like to make one 😄
No .... open feeding can spread disease, please read your local / regulatory rules for open feeding bee's
1 part water 1 part white sugar

@@manuelatrabi5923 Thanks for the great reply, you have a way with words ...
I feel like a checklist system is needed before you guys are allowed drive anywhere. :)

Now you know they would forget the list...
How many times did you walk up to the shed, bee man,
Love your show,my husband has 3 hives and 4 nucs up here in Cairns, love ya .
Haha holy crap come on! Get the right bucket. Sellys, Sikaflex, Ryobi sponsorships available? Lovely camera stuff at end! Very cool!
Looks like it works a treat. Well done.

And in another episode he fails to put the lid on the bucket.. Gold!
You are using vacuum to hold the liquid same as the chicken water bowl things also did you try using one of those?

Hilarious thanks
I just bought myself 3 food grade buckets from my local donut shop for some feeder buckets I guess great minds think alike
I used one of those feeders all last year. I saw it on, Dfishman76 channel on RUclips.

Someone please get Mark some decent tools!!! :)
So why did you cut the handle. Makes carrying and tipping much harder. But.....logic is not humorous. Love the bush bee man.
Hmmmmm 🤔
Instructions unclear. I don’t know how to put lid on bucket.
It has to be a bucket that has a leak proof seal to hold an internal vacuum.
😂😂😂😂😂
Interesting 'script.' 😂
Angle grinder. No gloves. No eye protection. No ear protection. Not great Bee Man, c'mon mate. We don't want you losing an eye or a finger.
He had his safety squint on lol.
