Modulating send effects on the digitakt with the digitone is really great idea! Wish you could p-lock that stuff internally but this is a good workaround
You need to set up a MIDI track on one of the machines to send a specific controller value (also called CC, these can be found in the manual) to the other machine's control track.
Veeery nice. Was not sold on DN but hearing this . .well . . I can always blame you for spending the money. You know your tools well. Keep them coming, tutorial would be nice. Looking forward.
thank you! :) more videos are in the worx.. I might do a tutorial on how to use MIDI between the two units. But I am mainly interested in creating and performing pieces of music!
Szymon Kosecki hey thanks! I was working on factory presets against a tight deadline. In this period I also had to do a couple of 24h train rides, so I taped all the logos of the then secret machine in order to work discreetly ;) I thought it was funny to keep some of it on.
so dope ! Did you sample those drums into the digitakt or did you program them that way? I just got both of these this week so I’m trying to learn em in and out.
hey - for the "breakbeats" I sampled a short drumloop and sliced it up into different samples, then sequenced it to become more complex. The kick, snare and some other sounds are made by resampling one cycle waveforms of the digitakt several times :)
Awesome track ! I have a question, I'm considering getting a Digitakt to pair with my DT but can I run the outputs of one to the inputs of the other ? My audio interface has only 2 inputs that I'm already using for the DT.
thanks! yes, you can connect the digitakt through the digitone, as the digitone has a stereo thru however, if you connect the digitone through the digitakt, the thru signal becomes mono
Thanks for the tip :) Last question: is it possible to connect my keystep to the digitakt via midi in this setup and chose to control one or the other ?
Blue midi cable sends notes from the takt to the tone, and the black midi is the reverse. Otherwise it’s power in and audio to a mixer / interface. My best guess, anyway.
yes it is, pretty much.. it has no retrigs like the digitakt, but the ability to "preview" notes in a special screen that comes in handy for writing chords and melodies. "challenging" is just because I'm used to trackers/DAWs
Hey there! May I know if there's a reason you run midi into each other? Also, I presume the l/r outs of both are sent to a mixer? Appreciate your sharing!
MX GX the DN controls some parameters of the DT delay effect with a midi automation track. The idea was to have the DT doing the same with the DN reverb but I ran into bugs that made the machines stop responding to CC messages - I think those bugs might be fixed now. The L/R is sent to my sound interface where I applied some minimal mastering in a DAW. I have some other MIDI automation stuff going on for the next video! :)
14 people can't figure out their octatracks. This is EXCELLENT work.
Mr. Robot type shit
Man I really LOVE these boxes. Definitely the coolest grooveboxes on the market today.
I'm getting Aphex Classics vibes from those drums! Good stuff!
Pure delight ❤️
This is very cool! Reminiscent of the best of 90s IDM with a modern update. Amazing to get this all from two boxes.
Track track is just demented.... A break beat rebirth... Absolutely fantastic !
What happened to the Elektron logo on the Digitone? :P
Nice beats man.
I think that’s his way of saying that they are like one machine together
I LOVE THIS
That’s switch up is amazing
This was supremely dope. Excellent work.
Fan !! Belle construction et un son bien dark... Vous avez votre style, un son bien personnel.
lovely. kicks in beautifully around 3mins
it gets better the more you listen :)
I like the tape. I have taken gear apart and painted over everything. So, I can dig it.
I put the tape on when the machine was still secret :)
Very nice man. Great demonstration of these two together.

Finley Lane Mcelroy Hi, any chance of explaining how please? Cheers
You need to set up a MIDI track on one of the machines to send a specific controller value (also called CC, these can be found in the manual) to the other machine's control track.
Holy shit, you're sick man!
man this is sick! would be amazing if you could do some sort of tutorial explaining a bit how you worked on this
Very cool beats, man! Always a fan of your work. Very nice work on changing up the automation to keep the songs moving and growing.
Damn you really know how to put this alien tech to work! sick beats!
catching this as well!
All of it is great but that intro is sublime!
This is an awesome track! Been on repeat for a little while now. :)
This is incredible! Great sound quality and groove.
dude this is amazing!!
Really original, brings back that good ol' idm vibes!
this is so sick
This was seriously awesome! Great sound
hot fire
thank you for the offering

Really fine work; thanks for sharing. Also, more please.
sounds like the record label warp records in a way any way what is better the digitakt or digitone cool sounds
Love the tune! Brings me back to my demoscene days :) What's the deal with the silver tape? ;-)

love this
Wow! Your sound is on another level.. I’ve never heard anything like it... Do you give tutorials?
thank you very much! :)
No, not yet..! but it would be fun to try doing a tutorial video
+1 on tutorials, you seem to have pretty much mastered these two big time!
zabutom please! very nice performance there, mister!
pretty awesome, I like it a lot !!
4:02 Reminds me of old N64 Game, Forsaken soundtrack "/watch?v=-eNUowWj7ws". Great work!
Nice jam. I didn't know electron had a big all in one sampler and synth. Lol.
Only if you buy both units. The Digitakt doesn't have a synth and the Digitone doesn't have a sampler.
+Nice
Niccee tones.
impressed , would love to see a tutorial
Noice. What’s up with the duct tape on the Digitone though?
luvlie tune
more like this please!!!!
Well done!

Yessssssss!!!!!!! Dirty and dancing 😂

i'm not familiar with the keystep, but I think it should work. Don't know for sure though!
You rock...!
Komplete love
Can you explain me where are those cables connected to? Thanks
Blue midi cable sends notes from the takt to the tone, and the black midi is the reverse. Otherwise it’s power in and audio to a mixer / interface. My best guess, anyway.
In order to do this set up yourself you only need one midi cable. They are not sending notes only sending timing.
3:59 is NUTS, did you program that patch yourself?
haha thanks! Yes, I programmed all the patches
Amazing tune. Love it! How is the Digitone? What is your opinion on it?
Filip Ferferiev thank you! :)
It's dreamy, has a really special sound imo. To me, the sequencer is challenging but mostly in a good way!
Why challenging ? Isn`t the same as the one in Digitakt ?
yes it is, pretty much.. it has no retrigs like the digitakt, but the ability to "preview" notes in a special screen that comes in handy for writing chords and melodies. "challenging" is just because I'm used to trackers/DAWs
thanks, mate! ;)
youhouuu :)
Dope

Oh cool, thanks for sharing! Will look out for your vids :)
this is great! how do you have them connected? considering picking them both up.
as I can see digitakt's patterns are only 1 bar long and digitone's - 4 bars long. how did you achieve loop length of 8 bars?
I used long notes and trig conditions to make them play every other wrap of the 4-bar loop
Red Means Nothing 😅
Congrats man, THIS is dope!
lol redmeans is whole diff level
Very good apart from 5:57 and on ... really disliked that!
Lol, that one's a slow burner, nice one.
;D
i clicked this three times before realising what was going on lol
+5 for not using USB and having them MIDI linked.
Mozart of electronic music (sorry for that bold comparison :-)
lol :D
TEACH ME (please...) :)))
Why the tape over the Elektron on the Digitone?
it's a remnant from when I was designing preset sounds for the Digitone, and it was still a secret machine
Way too many dislikes, those dudes only like joey badass type beats
This is terrible.
butternutcrunch good!
@@zabutom You're aiming for unlistenable tripe?
whatever you are experiencing, that is my goal
@@zabutom That's not a goal dumbass. That's just you embarrassing yourself with overpriced gear that you have no business using.
thank you for your comment, we enjoyed reading it. )
this is sick
