Pelosi had control for a bit, his hand on the intruder's hand, so when the cops showed up and he answered the door, all he had to say was "help me!" or " get in here and get him out!" His calm demeanor is confusing.

As speaker, she got 24/7 police protection from federal and local law enforcement. They set up a field office for the Capitol Police in San Francisco (plus another in Tampa for whatever reason). At her home in San Francisco, SFPD would often have officers in front of her house and/or in cruisers parked in front. Same with the Napa County Sheriff when she was at their second home in Napa Valley.
But Paul wasn't entitled to that protection. The protection only extended to the Speaker, so no 24/7 police protection for the spouse.
If Nancy Pelosi were home and DePape had tried this, he would have either been discovered pretty quickly (especially breaking a window) and/or shot Ashlii Babbitt style.

They were told it was a wellness call or welfare check, so I guess they weren't even told there was an unknown intruder. Dispatch seems to have screwed up royally not getting the hint, but at least they sent them I guess.

No. All at the 2 AM hour in San Francisco. The surveillance video timestamp is eastern time since it was recorded by the Capitol Police in DC. The police body cam is UTC+0 - aka "Zulu Time" with the Z to the right of the time.

I'm surprised the cops didn't blow him away soon as they see him fighting for the hammer. They are normally pretty trigger happy over a lot less risky situations than this they were a bit slow to not realise something strange was happening.
I'd be pretty stunned to be honest. Answer what was called in as a burglary, arrive and see a mostly calm situation with a hammer, get a few questions in with mostly mild responses, and at that point I'd be as confused as the cops.

His trauma response was a mix between fight and fawn. Probably in his younger days, he would have been quick to fight, but now that he is older and weaker, it is to fawn(submission/trying to appease the person threatening). He is making himself smaller and less threatening by avoiding any sudden movements or any threatening tones or body language. Like dropping the drink, it could make it seem like he's throwing it and trying to attack. Or making any disgruntled facial expressions could make it seem like he's thinking about and getting ready to attack. His "fight" was to grab the weapon in defense, but still trying to appease by not trying to rip it out of the intruders' hands, which could provoke an attack. All of his actions are very understandable and make complete sense when you put them in the context of this being a traumatic situation.
Definitely I agree with ur brilliant insight into the situation. Some right websites were trying to play up the fact that he was in his underwear and holding a drink with the guy in the side and like that was implying something between the 2. How many sick twists can right wing fools put out… but it's true that in that situation in which Mr. Pelosi was startled, in his PJs, that he would want to act rational and calm and reasonable with the weirdo in the house.

Never said they'd be dispatched, although they could be. They have the feeds of security cameras at the homes of most members of Congress. Their mission includes protecting members of Congress regardless of where their homes are.
