my favorite bit of the whole playthrough that I'm sure isn't a bit on purpose is Eric calling literally every location on Brittle Hollow the Southern Observatory
I personally loved where he kept changing the name of the Warp Core every three sentences at one part last stream.
LMAO
Except for the map near Riebeck's camp, he called the Southern Observatory the Gravity Cannon that time lol, and sure enough later on he's like "oh yeah you can get to the gravity cannon from the tower of quantum knowledge!" no dummy you just can't read a map.
"what happened lorewise in the last hour?" eric: "lorewise, I've dived into the sun about four times"
I love this playthrough
Pointcrow... his name is Pointcrow, it says so on his birth certificate.
Pointcrow tries to read signs challenge (100% impossible)
Pointcrow's absolute refusal to use the goddamn signalscope brings me actual physical pain.
it's right on your screen the whole game. it blows me away how little attention people pay to their HUD. It has tons of useful info CONSTANTLY.
It's there to cut down the game's difficulty and time significantly, but who looks at their screen fully anyways
Not to mention the auto-pilot, which would have saved him so many deaths by crashing into either the Sun or the targeted planet... Arguably also the landing camera, although it's much easier to skip that one and still be able to land safely.
@@ShmuPixel The landing cam is also very useful for finding the north and south poles while in your ship
The continuous, UNIDENTIFIED SIGNAL DETECTED. It cuts me like a knife.
I came to the comments for signalscope solidarity and I'm so glad I found it.
Important: Just like I said on the last video, Outer Wilds is a once-in-a-lifetime experience - and 150+ people who saw the last video agree! **Don't let your experience be ruined by watching this video!** Absolutely play the game before watching this, even if it means putting off this video for a few months.
agreed. PLEASE PLAY THIS GAME BEFORE WATCHING. it is on game pass on xbox and PC if you do not want to pay full price for it. you can thank me and everyone else repeating the same thing later ::)
AGREED favorite game I've ever played go play it now
Sadly I already ruined the game for myself a year or two ago. I still enjoy watching people play it though.
I can't tell you how many games I've put off viewing until I experience them myself, one more wouldn't hurt, and I don't have 6 hours right now anyways lol
@@josh3003 I did the same, had nearly a whole playthrough from my favourite let's player available and binged it, by the time I realised what a gem it really truly is it was already too late. I did play the DLC before having it ruined though and it was amazing.
This video is 40% enjoying the gameplay, 30% wishing he learned how to fly, and 30% wishing he would use his freaking signalscope
the plight of the backseater:
- he doesnt know he can identify signals with signalscope
- doesnt know about autopilot/match velocity
(i was gonna write a full list but thats really it, his playthrough has been quite thourough so far, by far the quickest streamer I've seen to pick up on clues)
It’s hilarious to me that Crow figures out so many things so quickly, and can’t figure out that there’s fuel and a medkit on the ship
He noted it the very first time he got in the ship. Then promptly forgot.
Personally, the thing I hate seeing most in outer wilds gameplay, is people knowing how to see ghost matter, and still not knowing how to get around it
I'M SORRY THERE'S A WHAT?
@@ckinggaming5bucketmadness766 bro I got all the way to the interloper (literally the last thing I did before beating the game) before I learned how to get past ghost matter lmao
I did not know there was a medkit on the ship, I played the game like mid 2020
As someone who obsessively used my signalscope and scanned everything I could, it physically pains me that Eric refuses to take his out.
"I am the number one pilot in the entire universe!"
Feldspar presses X to Doubt
Well, at some moments of the game, he can be literally the only pilot in the universe ::)
46:43 and 46:53 was an amazing moment that he just happened to miss. Which is fair, but oh man, the [spoiler] was pointed right at the planet and the [spoiler] skimmed the atmosphere! You can see it headed straight for him at the first time stamp, then you can see it skim the atmosphere ten seconds later, just as he praises the game. Such perfect timing. God, I love this game.
Holy shit! I never realized that [redacted] changes direction every loop! This game is truly incredible
@@VtheDreamer yeah, it's the reason they build ATP after all, but honestly with all quantum stuff maybe they could just keep shooting it in one direction, who knows. Random directions are the safer bet, i guess.
The only flaw to the locator is that behind every planet is a hugeee blindspot that could have the eye of the universe behind it
Oh also it is entirely possible for it to crash into your ship, search up [spoiler] blowing up ship at start
@@bobert3230 Oh yes, i saw it, hilarious
One day pcrow will learn of this thing called "Conservation of Momentum" and be able to land properly.
tbf literally every videogame ever makes stops you when you stop pressing the go button. but this particular videogame has semi-realistic spaceship flight, inertia and all.
@@zamboni3438There's no such thing as "stopped" in space. You are always moving all the time relative to some other object. If you stopped pressing the go button, what exactly would you expect the game to do? Magically know what reference frame you want to stop relative to? That's what the match velocity button is there for anyway.
Viewer: You're so astute.
PointCrow: Continues to miss 3rd n in Annona's name.
Looks directly at trees, then can't find trees.
Looks at the upper part of the Quantum Tower: Oh, I haven't been inside this Southern Observatory yet.
no he just knows the Nomai pronunciation of the name, the last n is silent
@@mateo0123 but ur supposed to read it in the Calactophyscent pronunciation which pronounces it.
Ok, your turn to make something up.
@@YetiUprising sorry, hearthian translation is not advanced enough for that yet
wait til he finds out he can use a signalscope by pressing 1 button on screen the entire game
At first, I thought Eric would be the type to skip dialogue/not exhaust all the dialogue options based on the first vod... But an hour into this video i can see that I was wrong and I see he's excited to complete the ship log :) enjoy!
crow's piloting hurts me. Its space, there's no friction, he doesn't need to keep his foot on the gas the whole time
Everyone in chat waiting for crow to see the cool things they know so well, thinking they know everything about the game, then he attaches the scout *to himself* and they all go ballistic.
Including me, what the actual f*** was that!?
what was the timepoint of that?
@@FadkinsDiet 2:22:00
its actually possible in quite a few places, mostly by doing weird stuff with the sand rising on ember twin, but its also possible to do other weird stuff like launch your scout onto the balls in the observatory, knocking them out of the little place, and this can even actually roll your scout to take pictures OOB!
Outer Wilds is my absolute favourite video game. Im happy Point Crow is enjoying it. He has a very scientific brain which can be appreciated in a space with habitual dialog skippers who have a hard time appreciating a game like this.
Much like how he figured out the sun was gonna blow before it ever did for him
"One more loop" (theres an hour left in the video)
This playthrough is really good! You tend to figure things out quickly and retain most of the information! And your piloting is very entertaining. However, you basically skipped through all the tutorials on timber hearth which brought you some trouble. Some things you already know of but tend to not implement:
-"unidentified signal nearby" is literally a *signal* to bring out your *signalscope* please play around with it a bit to fully understand how to use it, it's very useful and lets you zoom in too!
- when you visit the travelers and roast a marshmallow, make sure to talk with them again from time to time! it's not required but they can give u some good flavor text and tips! There's one that's very helpful
-the autopilot CAN be your friend, *Velocity match* is your BEST FRIEND.
- you can click on a planet in your map view while buckled in your ship, it's easier to find planets as it marks them in space.
Have fun on your journey and thank you for playing this wonderful game! Can't wait to see more!
This comment needs to be upvoted more
He definitely picks up on things a lot faster than other players I've seen. Some people try way too hard to over think everything and others are mindlessly stuborn on one or two things and its maddening. This is pretty refreshing to be honest.
Agreed, he reminds me of my own playthrough, just a bit slower. The few people I've given this game to really struggle to get it at first.
@@AngryAlfonsewow you must be very smart
PointCrow is actually pretty good at the game.
If you ignore flying, that is.
I would personally advise killing the tangential speed (white arrows) before flying to an object, otherwise you end up going way past it or just kinda orbiting it.
if you are going 10m/s towards the object and 100m/s to the left of the object the way to get closer to it isn't by accelerating towards it, but by canceling out the side speed.
looking at the new episode, it's safe to say PointCrow mastered flying
It amazes me how Crow is both the most astute and most clueless OW player I've seen.
I love watching people play games for the first time. I love seeing if the streamer did the same things I did, had the same realizations, did something different etc.. but MAN I have been on edge because he didn't identify any unknown signals.. until 2:30:53 . That's my streamer! 😭never change
SAME! I was like HOW FAR WILL HE GO without using the signal scope AT ALL
and then he proceded to never do it again
Something I love about this game is that no guess any player has had is the right answer. It’s genuinely mind-blowing and incredibly rewarding.
Eric’s absolute refusal to use the signal scope while constantly being told to do so along with refusing to use the autopilot while constantly flying past things, crashing, or flying into the sun was insane
Waiting to see if he ever figures out the ship contains a fuel refill
Sign: London, 100 kilometers.
Pcrow: Sweet, that means we're in London!
The fact that you got this far without ever trying/understanding how to use the signalscope is baffling to me xD
Game: press Y to access the signalscope
Pointcrow: I** ***** ******* * didn't see that
"I'll meet you on the other end of the sun" is a great one-liner
4:42:20 never in my life have I seen such luck
What did he do that was so lucky?
@@Raptor747he fell just on the right tornado that sent him to the core of the planet
And then the music starts. Imagine wanting to get down there, not knowing how, doing it by accident, then being reminded of how much time you have left right after.
PointCrows ability to absolutely ignore the use of the signal scope... giving me anxiety
4:12:49
"And eventually, crow and his ship stopped thinking...."
Okay, the "Here comes the sun" joke killed me.
And him
yeah, definitely not stolen from chat who said it before like 50 times
I really feel like outer wilds would make a great book or movie. Fucking fantastic story.
4:18:36 is when the game *truly* clicked for him I feel
Mans got through the sand maze FIRST TRY, and then ran out of O2 mere _meters_ from the refill! This game, I love it so.
Yes, I'm really happy your enjoying the game. Definitely one of my top 10 games to play
the great thing about outer wilds istehre are shortcuts to pretty much every major area if you look around. sunless city, meltwater, dark bramble. so nice
Shortcut to dark bramble?
Loved this! Looking forward to more Outer Wilds
2:22:43 Anglerfish gets 1 last meal after death.
you burn the marshmallow, eat the burnt skin off, burn it again, repeat
i just binged through 8 hours of gameplay, fully invested just to find out he will probably not post the rest here plus the original vod has been deleted
i am crying
All we have now are some of the highlighted clips from dotbird. Oh well.
The next vod is up on this channel, though.
@@FailcopterWes yeah i saw it, at the time that i made this comment it wasn't tho
I finally played through enough of this game to start watching the vods! Thank you crow for posting these I LOVE this game and watching you has been so fun
For those who haven't heard he did another part of Outer Wilds on his alt account, dotbird. He says there will be a vod of it up on this channel soonish. He did not finish the game then, and he hasn't said when he plans to do another part yet.
Do we know why he played on his alt account?
@@bluethan806 he said it was bc the outer wilds stuff was not doing as well on his main Twitch as other content. He decided to continue it on his alt bc of the people that really liked. (There was also a Reddit thread of kind people hoping to see it return.)
So he streamed on alt but posted vod on main?
@@MasterCrander yes
autopilot: flies into the sun when trying to go to ash twin
pcrow: I'm never using autopilot again
pcrow the next loop: flies directly into the sun when trying to go to ash twin
Hi from a VOD Frog!! This game makes me super motion sick to play myself so I couldn’t finish it on my own. Super excited to watch you play it in my stead!!!
LETS GOOO OUTERWILDS
I would love to see you finish this game!
Ive been waiting for this again
crashing into the sun the first time you use autopilot is a certified classic
Am i the only one that noticed the probe almost his his ship at 46:53?
His mods are doing a great job. I'm excited for the rest of this playthrough
Getting launched into space on giant's deep and falling on top of the right tornado by chance is incredible.
*finds writings of nomai discovering an aquatic species with four eyes on timber hearth with a mural of blue tadpoles coming out of the water*
are those the anglerfish?
anxious me: xx)
pointcrow: I should identify more signals
me: finally!
"I ****guesssssssss**** we can do one more loop guys (4h/6h lol)
I had watched a couple of PointCrow videos here and there but I sat through the entire outer wilds playthrough, very nice
He was thinking in velocity and not acceleration, that's why he just flew past everything lmao
that ending was infuriating. Stream this more!
Genius observation skill, its fun watching you!!🎉🎉
This is easily the one of the best games *ever* made. top 5 atleast. For me personally its my absolute favorite
I was so excited to see crow playing Outer Wilds, i hope we get to see more of this!! ❤
Using the scout launch instead of just the photo mode makes me want to peel my skin off, I took the plunge and regretted it immediately
I wish I could delete my memory of this game and play it over and over for the first time. Such a beautiful experience.
I think we should start referring to fans of Outer Wilds as "quoomers."
Nice video i love your content so much.
>refuses to use match velocity and the autopilot
>doesn't understand conservation of momentum
match made in hell
I have to admit I have a hard time watching playthroughs on this game now because this is the 26th Playthrough I’ve watched. Yes I counted. But this playthrough is so easy to watch for me. Your so good at being simultaneously bad at this game and good at this game. And I get the perfect balance of Gaining knowledge, and funny moments when I watch this playthrough. Something that few others have been able to match. Also having chat along with the ride (when they backseat that is) makes it even more fun
I have to agree with that earlier comment. Your attention to detail is impeccable!
eventually he will learn to use the signal scope. (copium)
2:58:00
Gotta love auto pilot
You should play the DLC too if you like the game.
Please upload the VOD from dotbird!
Just one more loop procedes to do 3 more loops
49:00 you are hardcore in that you don't Match Velocity or use Auto Pilot. Those would cut down on your ship crash deaths by a lot, In this instance, lock on to Hollow Lantern and hold the Match Velocity button
I don't think crow understands Newton's first law. "An object that is in motion stays in motion"...
Chat has some real party-poopers tryin' to get him to skip clues huh.
RESIST THE URGE. SPOIL NOTHING. ASK NOTHING. It's worth it. :D
Also Crow's incompetence with the signalscope is more frustrating than that time I fought Genichiro.
46:10
"Holy s*** it worked!"
*Dies*
Incredible. Every word in that sentence was wrong.
Got job figuring out that last puzzle. That was one that stumped me hard...one of the last things I figured out...
4:38:20
"Is it over? It's going to restart isn't it? I'm going ba-"
My first playthrought of this game was in VR. Definetly the sweet cherry ontop for the perfect experience. (If you can afford a VR headset)
Same!! Playing through the DLC currently. Snapdragon Super Resolution just released on Virtual Desktop so now I'm able to play in 4k!
You really find the most extraordinary ways to die. And die before supernova. Amazing. Every time.
Please give us more OurerWilds!
can't remember when but he mentioned speedrunning this game/a section of it and oh buddy you aren't ready for what the speed runs of this game are like
Shipless is my personal favorite speedrun category, although Marshmallow% is also pretty good.
Please finish it!
Do we know when he will continue this?
He did, but he switched to his alt account to avoid messing up his stream metrics. Fortunately it got posted here.
I'm loving this playthrough! I hope you find the time to keep playing, even if it's on RUclips or an alternate Twitch account.
Do you know what Pointcrow's Twitch alt account is? I'd like to follow it in case he continues the playthrough there.
@@Dan0RG Unfortunately not. He just floated the possibility last time of continuing the game on an alt.
@@highonpi apparently he won't be playing the rest on stream cause it doesn't get enough views. Hopefully he plays it on his own.
@@Cup____ that makes so little sense. When you look at like the last 20 or 30 vods uploaded to RUclips the outer Wilds ones are the 3rd and 4th most viewed ones
@@NinjarioPicmin yeah I heard about it from his discord. He said he would play it on his alt but it's been almost 2 weeks. He might of abandoned it.
bro found the quoom before knowing how to refuel in his ship lol
The ending was gold
46:52 Is that what I think it is, in the background?
I’m so happy you decided to play again!!!
4:18:33 This! This is the exact reaction that everybody eventually experiences when they hear _the music_!!
What does pointcrow think the arrows beside planets mean?? He *never* gets the right vectors when trying to fly to a planet even tho it tells him
god, he forgot he can use the scout as just a camera and it's causing him so much grief
aaa
ah, the mods were deleting actual helpful comments like 'you only need one photo of it'
a thing he already shoulda known, but which slipped his mind?
that's. not really spoilers, though?
wakey wakey eggs and bakey brings back so many memories
