What a lot of the spiritual community doesn't understand is the fact that the more we fully inhabit our bodies the higher states of conciousness it/we can hold. 🙏
So true. I feel like I'm running an obstacle course like a father and child. Some things are so simple that only a child can understand. Very important to know what I know as well as I know that I really don't know. Thank you
You certainly can be not fully embodied. As a spiritual healer of 20 yrs, through trauma the soul can mostly leave the body for protection, the more you heal, the safer it is fir the soul to fully come back. Haven’t you heard of trauma victims say it felt like an out of body experience, because they detach so much is their soul is (mostly) leaving.
There is not one spiritual community but thousands. The really deep one's, often least popular, have tremendous understanding of the body mind soul spirit connections. They would not either overly recommend or not recommend "inhabiting the body", but a sweet spot in between in which every individual may need to overemphasize their pendular gravity in various directions depending on, for example, trauma dispositions or energy type of constitution. No rules can be made.
Hi Irene, I follow and love your work. As a spiritual healer, psychic and sensitive, and someone who has spent years healing my own trauma, I can verify that during trauma a lot of the soul essence can leave the body, which correlates very much with freeze response, not feeling present etc which is what somatic healing really helps with. When the body is back in safe mode the soul can come fully back. And one can live fully present again. As you would know this could take one session or years, it depends how long it takes for the body to feel safe again. I have no doubt that feeling fully human is one being fully present in their body again. Some spiritual healers do what’s called soul retrieval. But it will naturally occur once they feel safe. I believe all work is spiritual work because it is all connected. We are spiritual beings having a human experience through our mind and body.
Well said! I have been working in neuro - therapy and the spirit started talking to me I want to send you in your field. Beside that my clients were becoming creative as we do therapy coming out with new songs, full recovery of chronic illnesses etc. I totally agree and will borrow your quote from now on, Gratitude for the quote.
I didn't even realize that I was in functional freeze until very deep into the spiritual path, when I hit something "solid" as I went deeper and deeper into my own nervous system. What followed was some of the worst fear I've ever felt. Now the tremendous energies that are stuck in my body are slowly becoming unstuck again. There's so much of it that it would probably kill me if it were released all at once
I resonate so much with what you have said. It wasn't until I did Irene's 21 Day course that I actually understood what was blocking me: deep fear. Fear. I could have said that was true before, yet the truth that it was fear wasn't registering.
Totally resonate: some deep terror inside that’s taking me quite some work and time to get through. May I ask, what was most helpful for you in terms of techniques or approaches to “thaw” it out? Thank you
I can vote for the things that Irene is talking about. I used to think that i was deeply connected/spiritual however i didn't realise that i was deeply disconnected, hypervigilant and retreating into the 'spirit' realm because that was my safe space when i was a child. It was a coping mechanism for me. Now that i have worked years on my regulation i feel life and everything around it has gotten so much richer. There is this sense of belonging and connection. There is this appreciation for the small things even though not everything is always perfect. I wish everyone will be able to experience this someday! This is probably the most important work anyone can do for themselves and the world. ❤
I had this realisation a while ago, about using spirituality as a coping mechanism as I think that is what I tend to do without understanding that I'm doing it. You have just reminded me of a very important reason why I'm currently stuck in my situation and not making the progress that I would like. Thank you for sharing this, it's a very valuable insight that I really needed to be aware of right now
@@pa26mk I understand. It can be tricky or sneaky when this is what gave us some sort of relief. Being aware that this is happening is the first step. The next is connecting the your environment and body. Slowly, not pushing or rushing anything
@@annabmoya6678 Yes, very sneaky indeed! I'm spending time today to sit with this, to try and stop reaching and just be with my body and surroundings, remembering that I am spiritual without even trying. Thank you, I send you peace and love 🙏🏻
Thank you for this Irene. Just want to add that many (highly) traumatised individuals have a very direct experience of spirit/God/whatever the right word is for that person. So whilst I do deeply agree with you that NS regulation can open this natural connection up - I want to remember here that luckiky - thank god! this kind of connection is not esclusive to people with a well regulared nervous system. Sinead O'connor is for me a wonderful example of this. Her first encounter with what she called The Holy Spirit was when she was left alone for two days at 5 years old. She called out for help and then she felt the Holy Spirit come to her. She made an agreement with it on that day that she would honour it for the rest of her life - and she says that's what informed her songs and her extraordinary personal transparency and her advocacy on behalf of vulnerable people(s).
Yes, maybe some people are born already connected to the spiritual realm (eg. Alanis Morrisette), whilst others may become connected through trauma or through healing trauma ❤
I've been focused on spiritual development throughout my life and since learning this work, healing and regulating my nervous system, I have experienced the most profound spiritual connection unlike ever before! ❤ It most certainly feels natural and like home!
5 years ago when I begin to follow Eckhart tolle, I learned to remain deeply in connection with your sensation when you feel anxiety. But with this practice I completely become numb , went to functional freeze. Develope autoimmune disease. But with Your teaching Irene, I understands my freeze state, syndrome 😢. A lot of people in the world who are not able to attend your program because of many reasons.but your free resources are god's gift
Look into Theravada Buddhism, Forest Tradition. Dhamma is free, all you need is to be open to inner investigation and including yourself in compassion. Go to the source.
@fingerprint5511 Do 21 Day course with Irene because no amount of meditation, Ekhart Tolle, MAP, CBT, Magnetic Mind, visualization, ever helped me to come out of CONSTANT flight and freeze/near poverty and low self-esteem . Irene's course is doing this for me.
I was at rock bottom and I had a spontaneous kundalini awakening and then over the past four years I’ve been on a healing journey. I feel regulated for some time and then all hell breaks loose again and it goes back and forth but each cycle of hell is becoming less extreme. I can literally feel myself balancing out.
That’s exactly what I’ve been going thru. It’s a slow process but at least it’s better everytime it happens. I’m sick of it and become fully aware of my nervous system being disregulated. I’ve been so detached from my body and numb, that I don’t even realize I’m stressed and my nervous system is crazy, cuz in my head and my emotions know I’m safe, but my body doesn’t know it and here I am responding to every person and situation in survival mode and scanning for danger and how anyone at anytime can put me in danger of affecting my stability. I’m over it and getting my nervous system regulated.
I believe from personal experience that spiritual knowledge on its own does not heal trauma. There also needs to be knowledge and understanding about the body and the nervous system including somatic practices for a more holistic approach to healing. That is, understanding the relationship between mind, body and the soul.
In the last year as I've become more regulated I keep finding I'm having really strange coincidences...things that happen, I see, or people I come across. It can be bizarre and out of the blue. I was recently told by a relative over Christmas "that's what's meant to happen - it's called Synchronicities. When we reach out to the Universe the Universe responds". I'm a 51 year old 'proper' Engineer...I've never believed in this sort of strange 'tree hugging' stuff but I can no longer deny it either....so I'll embrace it and continue to develop. This is also recent and as a long time follower of this channel this was well timed too ha!
I experienced this in my healing journey! A spontaneous spiritual awakening and connection with ease, when all I was trying to do was focus on healing chronic illness through my nervous system. Its been the best side effect of the journey!🎉
Me too!! I was atheist my whole life, then experienced a decline in my health due to autoimmune conditions, and when I healed my nervous system I concurrently had a spiritual awakening. Super interesting ❤
I've noticed those who "see" the unseen world tend to be disconnected/running away from reality. True spirituality is grounded in reality, not fantasy.
9:00 Very much agree with you about the naturalness. Not to box it into one religion but the famous saying of Jesus about "becoming like a child to enter the kingdom" in extremely practical term does look a lot like exiting functional freeze and getting back to that emotionally limber state of childhood. Thank you for sharing
"This piece of spirituality" is already a part of us, and the connection is always there. It never goes anywhere. The difference is whether people are consciously aware of it or not, in any given moment. Simply put, many people have so much distraction going on that they aren't aware of it. It's not that ANY practice connects us to it - it's that any practice has the potential to free us from what stops us from seeing/feeling it. The journey and experience described in this video is a common one, and absolutely valid. It is, however, only one, and not a rule. Spiritual development and nervous system regulation are not mutually inclusive. I know that from experience. In my humble opinion, if I cannot stay grounded AND connected (which does not mean stillness, but the total love and protection - aka: honouring, of what is), in the middle of the most dysregulating things, and/or if I have to control my environment to such an extent that I have to change it in some way, then my regulation is conditional, and therefore not yet mastered.
Love you so much beautiful Irene, the world is fuller with you in it, u have educated me so much recently n helped me understand so much about myself in order to restore my self regulation back how it should of been as a child. You really are an angel 😇 💓 💖 from god 💖 I'm so appreciative of your youtube vids n sending u a big love from the UK
I've never been able to connect with any videos literally anything as much as I can with ur vids, ur knowledge n wordsfrom the heart. U are a godsend Irene ❤️
For me, my dpirituality always helped me to regulate durinh my childhood years and in adult life. I even had profound mystical experiences. It helped me cope. So I dont think there's a certain order in spiritual development, as in: you can only develop spiritually if you regulate (like the Maslow pyramid). However...having been working on my regulation also deepened my spiritual connection further. That is true.
This makes sense to me. I've been doing your work for 14 months on 21 day program. So powerful and helping me so much. You mentioned your own functional freeze here. What did that look like for you? Were you bedridden? Can you give specific examples of what functional freeze looks like on a practical level? Would really help. I'm so fatigued. Not sure if that's functional freeze or is it I'm so tired after trauma is released and I need to rest.
Hello, Sophia from Team Lyon here. Here is what Irene has previously said about functional freeze: ruclips.net/video/JCF2ZkE8bs4/видео.html , ruclips.net/video/-qPCzzn-uQA/видео.html , ruclips.net/video/DmJtHB__ji0/видео.html . That we feel more regulated and at ease once we are able and willing to acknowledge/validate our naturally given spirituality matches what is said in the bible: "happy are those conscious of their spiritual needs..." - Matthew, chapter 5, verse 3 -
I had an adverse reaction to meditating at home. I awakened some old trauma perhaps? But I’ve had insomnia for 8 weeks now. My body will not allow me to fall into deep sleep. It seems my body holds my breath and forces me to wake up. Breath work causes me more anxiety. It’s been real eye opening how this stuff is not always safe to use on our own at all.
Its called a Christ impulse in Anthroposophy, and it is not at all just a word like life force, nature, universe and a connection with all the above.. but I guess the human mind probably strongly resists such an interpretation. Great care and knowledge is needed because we can quickly think we are becoming human, or a real human being, or even that we are engaging in true spirituality. We can very quickly be fooled by modern new age expressions.
I don’t know if I am the only one here with a completely different experience (but I don’t think so): I would say that I was and became the MOST spiritual/sensitive/connected to the spiritual realm and all kinds of energies when my nervous system was DYS-regulated. I was deeply connected to my body, my emotions and sensations, even though my body was in fight&flight mode all of the time. I was (and still am) ultra sensitive to energies around me. I therefore find it surprising that you mention that people have experienced a deeper sense of spiritual connection after becoming more regulated. I believe that it is dysregulation that causes more sensitivity and thus more receptivity to energies/spiritual sources.
My experience is somewhat similar. When I was very dysregulated with tremendous anxiety almost ALL the time, underweight and deep in my eating disorder, sleep deprived with my body really struggling to keep going - I was also more attuned to spiritual energy, nature, and the emotions of people around me. It felt like I had no shields and was very open to deep connection but also overwhelmed. In the past couple years as I've restored weight and gotten physically healthier learned to regulate my nervous system and emotions somewhat, anxiety has reduced a ton, I can ground myself more and don't get as affected by others' emotions. BUT that spiritual connection and yearning for something greater has dimished, it's like I want it but don't care enough to put in the effort. I'm more even-keeled now but also more closed off unfortunately.
I’ve also been very sensitive when disregulated but I don’t necessarily think it’s a healthy sensitivity … it can really take a toll on you and invites all sorts of energies in… so you have to have discernement and skills not to get overwhelmed or frozen and disconnected from your own life by identifying with all the energies passing through you. I think what Irene means is that when you’re calmer and more regulated as I experience now… there’s a deeper spiritual connection that is more quiet and is more focused on your energies and those you care about rather than letting every energy in, which can be quiet chaotic. It’s like the advice to stay grounded and practice grounding when you do any spiritual work … that’s there so you don’t fly away with the fairies as they say but keep being grounded as human on earth. If you’re not grounded, you may not interpret energies correctly … and grounding helps regulate the nervous system also.
What you have said here is consistent with certain practices of older gurus in India. I've read and been told that some of them actually have induced a sort of mild trauma to their devotees to help them have access to certain states of consciousness.
What about those of us, stuck in survival mode who are doing all the work we can without any financial resources? What hope is there for those of us who can't afford access to the courses and the therapies? Is deep wellness, wholeness, and regulation always only going to be for the privileged? Does inclusively matter in the world of self care and healing?
You can accomplish a lot, really a lot with the free resources that Irene shares... To practice is usually free... And there are ways to find more affordable SE sessions. Like you could contact an English speaking therapist from another country where prices are lower... I understand the struggle. I went trough a dark night of the soul with no money, no job, girlfriend left, living in a place i didnt like with people who had no idea how to help me. I started learning from Irene via RUclips and free resources, paying for sessions as much as possible, Even asking for Money and for discounts, everything in My reach to move forward. I live in México, have no support from government, family far away living in a Town where nobody has any idea of what trauma really is and how to work with it... Pfff suffered a Lot and here i am enjoying the other Side of the fence... I actually started Irene courses very late in My recovery, only when i was already more regulated and My circumstances had changed tremendously... Healing is possible 😊
All healers I have ever followed here on RUclips or elsewhere offer free videos, etc. If all these healers gave everything away without compensation, then they too would be back to “survival” mode and unable to help countless others. I’d suggest definitely looking at the free materials, and perhaps seek out a few other practitioners who also offer free content, and start there. ❤

Cant go fr work nor can go out bcoz of all dez. Lyf is in a box. So nice to hear ur vlogs. God bless u🙏
Working with your nervous system means taking control of your health. They say it’s in your head because they have no healing to offer. At the most they will give you pills to suppress your symptoms, but you would still live in survival state. Programs like Irene’s do offer healing. Hugs to you.
I can really relate to what you have said. Doctors don't know, we get the blame? This makes it harder on our systems much love and wishes for you to find a way. I try to read and watch all the free current research backed things I can find. It gets harder without any proper sleep in yrs. It's a difficult path and I sent blessings to everyone trying to heal alone without good support and current methods to actually help 🙏
Hello, Sophia from Team Lyon here. I'm sorry to hear you're navigating a challenging situation, thank you for sharing your story. Its important to note that American Buddhism and genuine Buddhism are two completely different things. The true teachings are very far from avoiding anything, its about reality as it is, this is why American Buddhism was created - its no different to any other New Age idealistic belief system. Real Buddhism is 100% against American beliefs. Real Buddhism is about the human experience. Theravada Buddhism, for those interested, mo chance for fantasy.
Hey, thanks for the interesting comment. I've been working with Irene's teachings for 3 months, at the same time reading "when everything falls apart" by Pema Chödrön (she's American but I believe she does teach real Buddhism). And I keep thinking nervous system work is a version of meditation. It's done in a different way, but it's a technique to get in touch with your feelings, feel them fully, and don't attach and let go of them. Emotions are seen as an energetic load rather than something that has a lot of meaning. Maybe the people back when the teachings were developed were naturally in their bodies, so meditation worked for them. But nowadays with so much disconnection and nervous system dysregulation I feel working with the body and nervous system is needed for many people to be able to do spiritual work. As you seem to be into Buddhism more deeply I would love to hear your thoughts on this!
I have a feeling that what she is referring to as spirituality here don't cover up - by far - the dephs of the matter. If she were to partake of lectures concerning spiritual sciences like rosicrucian, kabbalah, sufi, esoteric christianity or anthroposophy, she would see that there is a tremendous vastness and multiple lines of development where humans naturally find themselves in various and unique stages of. Healing trauma can and will help anyone to move about more freely and deepen their respective journey, but it will not automatically make people wise, loving and illuminated in the more elevated and subtle ways these teaching systems is set out to help with. Moreover, according to esoteric teachings, suffering and anxiety isn't always from trauma and can be as intense or even more so when it comes from certain healthy processes of ego surrender and also certain stages of existential metamorphosis. I believe Irene's work would fare even better if not so oversimplified regarding spirituality. They go extremely well together, but need distinctions and clear nuances. Nature, prana, cycles etc, is about heightened animalistic/magnetic qualities and resembles shamanism, there is much much more to spirituality. It makes sense though, that these sensitivities are enhanced by nervous system work.
@TheDucattiYvon, Jen here from Irene's Team. We're not experts on medication, and I can share anecdotally that many people start this work while on medication. There may come a point where it becomes hard to sense oneself due to the medication, and at that point it might be helpful to speak with your physician to see if it might be an option to gradually reduce the dosage.

This is great stuff and thank you for everything you offer. Just a little FYI, it's "who" not "whom". "Who" is the subject in those phrases. It would be, "Who are in deep survival."
Spirituality comes first and then a regulated system not the other way around from my experience. I have been disregulated since I was a kid and learned to regulate now as a 33 years old adult but spirituality has been there most of my life.
This is our true nature. We always were connected to the Earth, all upon her and the circadian rhythms. It was artificial light that changed work capabilities and that screwed up people’s sleep schedule and eating schedule and that leads to disease. This is all known and taught through Ayurveda, “ life knowledge” or the science of life. The lockdowns mucked with people’s routines and this threw their sleep and eating schedules off which leads to a host of problems including mental, like anxiety, the pandemic notwithstanding. #1 recommendation is to eat at the “proper” times to work With the digestion and not against it.🎉
I have CPTSD, MDD and MAD. Most of the time I feel regulated. I used to be very spiritual but feel betrayed by God. I would love to feel connected again but just dont trust it.

WOW!this is the place really. Thank you for advancing this critical area of the new era.
So important this message. This is at the root cause of so many illnesses, physical annnd mental 👍🏼
Couldn’t agree with this more. When you are regulated you are so aware.

More human= grounded
What a fascinating time to be alive! Your work is God's gift 🙏🏼
Life force connection - wow that's it!
All I have to say is… “there is something about the breath”!
Thank you 🙏🏻 ❤️

Such a good explanation. Thanks Irene ❣️
this makes total sense

That we feel more regulated and at ease once we are able and willing to acknowledge/validate our naturally given spirituality matches what is said in the bible:
"happy are those conscious of their spiritual needs..."
- Matthew, chapter 5, verse 3 -
I had an adverse reaction to meditating at home.
And this reception to energies is amplified many times by not being clouded by emotion.
Very well said @@sadiemakesmesmile
Many of the neurosensory exercises are offered for free by Irene. The orienting on its own has been a godsent for me.
NO it does NOT. I'm sure MANY of us who were taken out by this physically and mentally, lost everything and just hope to stay alive! ❤

Now hypertension also. Its lyk its not ending nywhr. It tuk 13 yrs to cum to a conclusion of probable autonomic dysfunction. Still tests r pending.
@@feyzacelik723Thank u fr ur kind Words. God bless u. 🙏
@@feyzacelik723wow so perfectly explained - they say it's in your head because they have no healing to offer...

I wish you were Celine Dion's therapist. She is so disconnected from her body, she abused it so much. Now her body fights her back 😢
Is it still possible to work with the nervous system and become regulated whilst on medication ?
@TheDucattiYvon, Jen here from Irene's Team. We're not experts on medication, and I can share anecdotally that many people start this work while on medication. There may come a point where it becomes hard to sense oneself due to the medication, and at that point it might be helpful to speak with your physician to see if it might be an option to gradually reduce the dosage.
@@IreneLyon thank you for your reply

I had spinal meningitis as an infant 👶 😮. I wonder 💭 how this effected my spirituality 😮🤷♀️
#1 recommendation is to eat at the “proper” times to work With the digestion and not against it.🎉
You have no idea what this moment means to me
Your so beautiful
