  • Madras Mehfil brings you an experimental take on this classic written by Faiz Ahmed Faiz Sahab, who was known for his poetry with purpose.
Truly timeless in nature with several interpretations through the years, here's our version of this Ghazal set against the backdrop of Madras with Odissi at the forefront as the storyteller.
A serendipitous meeting with Ganga Devī Sheth at our dear friend Kalaimamani Priya Murle's solo dance recital, led to this spontaneous collaboration; nothing short of magic.
We shot this with a Madras Mehfil rehearsal audio file, that Ganga resonated with, on the terrace of our apartment during a slim window of natural light. What you see here is an amalgamation of a few uninterrupted takes where Ganga quite literally & metaphorically, let herself flow. The final audio was actually recorded later, keeping the essense of the initial file intact.
We are deeply grateful to the immensely talented, remarkably grounded, everyone's favourite, our dear friend & well-wisher, award-winning Actor/Singer Darshana Rajendran for launching this video.
💫 In loving memory of Smt. Prasanna Ravikumar.. The embodiment of love, grace & affection. Forever in our thoughts..
    Love, Al Bidda Family. 💫
