  • Something I really respect is how Companies gets success after a great enforce to improve their products beyond their competitors. It is not that their last products wasn't good, or the competition was bad. It is about now days, technology Companies impact the present market and the future of the product's features, with advances hard to believe for guys of my generation back in the 80's when we started in electronics. For the new generation, it is different. If they can imagine it, it will be in the market in less than 600 days.
Products like the Owon SPE6102, add more technical resources on the bench for electronics designing or repairing. Owon is a Company that is playing hard to get respetable place in the electronics test equipment marked since few year ago, and in that time, all their improvements are visible.

Before OWON some guys made smaller switching PSU with similar screen and USB outputs (one even tunable!).
Had been called HR3006, I got mine for $66.

10:00 nice interesting experiment with the auto-transformer!

8:15 - Output set to 5V, yet its output is 4.97v. For something as simple as a PSU I would of expected it to be able to output the actual votage I asked it to.

When you tested this power supply, did you test the current protection? I saw in the video you had a discharge load. Did this power supply reduce the voltage when it was current limiting?

Nice review, I would like to see how does PSU behaves under different mains voltages and also if there is voltage spike upon turning on the unit just like issue with Rigol.

Hello, any idea if the output is isolated from mains input? The Owon manual does not specify anything about isolation. 300V will be hendy for making bipolar power supply.

Does it have short circuit protection? If yes, can we disable it to use it as an injector? Thanks

Also electronic load you used is not good idea to use for any noise related measurements. You need high quality load, preferably just special very high wattage resistors, huge ones :-)

    No lo está haciendo correctamente.
La medida NO es de pico a pico, sinó valores RMS.

    The noise looks terrible!

He concludes it's within the Owon specs. Do the specs sound terrible?

If he had measued the noise on a sensible output voltage instead of 0.97V it may of been an actually useful measuement. What he's done is no use at all.

I bought this power supply. Intelligent cooling is not intelligent. Fan is still running and noisy. I am not satisfied.
