Truth Behind the Atomic Bomb | History Lessons with Christories Distefano

- Опубликовано: 12 сен 2024
- This week Chris Distefano AKA Christories is coming to you talking about the A BOMB ! That's right, the atomic bomb! Everyone thinks it was a direct response to Japan's attack of Pearl Harbor, but it wasn't! It was for many other reasons, such as the Treaty of Versaille, Nanjing Massacre and for not surrendering! We got FDR running the show, talking to congress to let us join the war, Winston Churchill telling us we got to help him with the Nazis, it's just a whole mess!
We finally get Russia to help and get a team together to create a bomb. Enter Physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer! He was not the father of the A Bomb but definitely a great father figure!! They make the atomic bombs, yes TWO bombs, in New Mexico even though it was called the Manhattan Project -- what?! It was very unfortunate, but yes we dropped TWO nuclear bombs.
Tell us what you think in the comments!

Most definitely keep up these history lessons and he explains it in a totally funny way I appreciate the content keep it up Chrissy
Also Chrissy, let's not forget tbe Japanese were ready to fight a land war to the last man, woman, and child. We actually dropped pamphlets all over Japan warning them of a massive bomb that can wipe an entire city with one bomb, they didn't believe it. So as a ditterent to avoid a inevitable land Invasion in Japan we dropped one, dropped more pamphlets and again the emperor said no way do they have another one, well we did, but not a third. A few days later, the emperor of Japan signed a surrender on the deck of a US aircraft carrier. When we went ashore and there is video of this, the entire coast line was packed with sea mines, trenches, gun towers, underground tunnels, barbed wire, trip wires, amd anything else you can possibly think of. General McArthur even said it we could have possibly lost 1 million men on both sides in an invasion of Japan. Luckily, it didn't come to that. The nuclear bomb saved more lives multiplied by 100s then it took. Also the Nazis were 3 months away from a nuclear weapon. We bombed there heavy water plants and set them back considerably.
More Christories please. I’m both entertained and informed!! Love it
I love this please make more history videos. I learned more here than in school
This was eye opening Chris. Love hearing history from you.
He kinda glossed over the fact that part of the reason the US waited so long to join the war was because many wanted Hitler to win so he could destroy the Soviet Union. Even when intelligence agencies first knew about the concentration camps the US was still unwilling to join. But then Hitler's Operation Typhoon failed in October 1941 and the Russian Winter began. Only then did the US start changing it's mind and then 2 months later Pearl Harbor happens. Now that's eyeopening.
I watch the Oppenheim or trailer every day and just get goosebumps. I’m so excited for that movie. Nuclear bomb history is just so fascinating.
I learned more from Chrissy than I did from 4 years of history class in highschool. Amazing.
Dude this is amazing! Love comedy and love history!!! Please keep doing more!!
I love Chrissy Hisstory! You explain things that idiots like me can understand. Keep em' coming.

You're my favorite of the Santino, Schulz, Stavros, Dillon Era comedians. You should do more of these
And Normand, Morrill, Gillis, Ari. All so good
Schulz is whack
No bullshit, I listen to a lot of his stuff, but this is my favorite by far, and shows different side of Chris like which isn’t a bad thing. My favorite thing I’ve seen of Tori’s

Brilliant work Christopher thank you x
Keep this up. Might be the only way you get people to learn history today.
Bro - you gotta keep doing these. This was phenomenal. We need more. You even threw some conspiracy stuff in there while keeping it factual? Fucking fantassssstic
I love this so much. Please never stop this segment.
A little surprised you didn’t mention the Hanford Site. Its where the plutonium for the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki was manufactured. It’s in eastern WA, where I’m from. In high school playoffs we’d play a school whose mascot was ‘the Bombers’. I never realized how fucked up that is until years later 😅🙃
This is amazing, more, more, more.
Miss the history hyenas! This is great ❤
MORE CHRISTORIES! maybe even weekly with Yanny Long Days
Your knowledge, ability to grasp our attention and really teach us some awesome shit, plus the humor. I wish I had a teacher like this in high school!
this is the best Master Class episode I’ve ever seen. can’t wait for the next one. 🔥
Love your history lessons!! You’d be an incredible high school history teacher!!!
Don’t have the time to watch right now but just found this channel and this is great. I didn’t think you did anything but stand-up but all comedians need to do what you’re doing!!
This is the history series we never knew we needed until now.
history hyenas?
So well done! I’m glad you brought up Japan wanting not to face Russia. Keep up the history classes bro love it
You're confusing the Spanish civil war with the Spanish-American war. Spanish civil war was in the 1930's, Franco and the Fascists against the communists. Spanish-American war was in 1898, Teddy Roosevelt and the rough riders in Cuba.
This is fire and actually something I would watch weekly vs the pod. personal prefrence
You did two on the street tours. One In Philly and one in Boston I think. Any chance you can do some more! The two tour guides you got were great!
I'm a huge history nerd. And a comedy nerd. This is great. It's like the funny joke read some cliff notes and is paraphrasing from memory. I love it.
You’d probably like Chris’ old podcast with fellow comedian Yanni, the history hyenas
More of these please. I like swearing and debauchery when learning about world history.
Love this whole series and this video is one of the best!
I miss history hyenas
The story time I didn’t know I needed lol. This is great. 👍
Please do this more! A full history pod with you would be so entertaining !!love to you and peace
PS Churchill worked with the Daleks so your conspiracy probably has merit
Look up “History hyenas”

Dr. Chrissy! As a fan of history, I immensely enjoyed listening to your talk about WWII and the Manhattan Project, especially laced with comedy. Especially the various details and nuances and contexts. Pls keep these talks up! You are the Bomb, Babe!
You have to do these every week, it’s mandatory bro lol. Combining something really important like history with comedy is too good an idea to not make it a weekly thing.
He had a history podcast before, it was called history hyenas
You should do one of these a week
you should do an hour podcast about history, maybe you can do it with yannis pappis .
This was the greatest!! I need more! 👍🏽
Get Shane Gillis on here please. You two talking history would be absolute GOLD.
Better than the shaman who thinks pearl harbor was caused by two prop planes lol
@@acs78393god bless the shaman

@@DrBrule-ht2ms oh I know. I’m saying we need MORE. Shane is my favorite comic right now and I absolutely love when he talks history, so seeing him and Chrissy team up on a regular basis would be fuckin amazing.
Freaking love it. Thanks team
Japan was NEVER gonna surrender. The Japanese emperor was ordained by god, his people thought he was the hand of god, he needed a miracle of an out to quit fighting a hopeless war. The nuclear bomb was his out. Even god could not match that new American technology, and his people understood that.
Yup, if Hiroshima being leveled didn't do it, nothing was going to make them surrender
@@JamesScrote do a little research on Japanese culture before WW2. There were Japanese soldiers who never stopped fighting WW2. Decades after it was over. Defending little islands by themselves
@@JamesScrote all the Japanese military leaders committed ritual suicide if they lost, because humiliation from defeat was worse than death in their culture. Wounded Japanese soldiers would routinely wait for the US to provide medical aid then detonate grenades to try to take out one last man and evade capture. The fighter pilots that attacked Pearl Harbor knew it was a 1 way trip. They were honored to perform a suicide mission for their country. Cultural pressure is stronger than most realize, and pre WW2 Japan was a feudal war scape where only the strong survived. Japan stayed Japan when Ghengis Khan was around. The Koreans wanted in Japan. The Chinese wanted in Japan. Nobody got in for thousands of years, until we blew up those bombs.
Bro I freaking love love your history lessons….I wish you were my history teacher lol…keep it up bro I love all your stuff🤙🏽🤙🏽👊🏽👊🏽
As much as I like to believe it was Truman‘s ego Japan was never going to stop. the amount of horrors that take place is truly unspeakable but remember there were Japanese holdouts in the forest till like the 60s or 70s who thought the war was still going on that’s how their determination set them apart
yes debate! the japanese became demons when they were imperialistic. the fact that death before defeat is their main mantra is why there were so many vets still "active".
I just found these history videos I can’t stop now
If Chris was my history teacher I woulda passed no doubt
As fucked up as the nukes were in terms of human casualties and suffering the alternative, a land invasion, would not only mean more US casualties, but more Japanese casualties as well, both civilian and military. So as outright brutal and shocking as the nukes were, (and maybe they could have dropped them somewhere else, I dunno) the months long, grinding urban fighting from an invasion would have been much much worse in terms of total human suffering and destruction.
Chrissy history is honestly a service to humanity. A history education with a pinch of sus….
Awesome concept. Historic stories with comedic timing and jokes...cool. Your an awesome comedian man and above all seem like a good human...seems to be lacking on social media these days lol. Stay cool broski
I love this series, I truly hope you do more
imagine if he ever did a history podcast oh wait...
It’s still raw
Make no mistake. We need more.
Make no mistake, Yanni needs to do this with you like old times #HH

This is great bro! Love how you break it down
not to be dramatic, but if i dont learn something new every WEEK. i will kill myself♥️
Great christory pod! I want one about the assassination of archduke Ferdinand!!!
so many stolen bits from Shane Gillis. Still funny either way, but you basically used his entire bit about Hiroshima/Nagasaki being a "fuck around and find out" in his exact cadence lmao.
bro this was the best thing ive watched on YT in a lonng time, pls do more like these lol
No yanni?!?!
Man those were good days before corona and just getting our history on with the hyenas
This is actually one of the most concise and nuanced summaries of the situation taking modern scholarship and speculative inquiry into account. It's almost deceptive how quickly and fairly you dealt with this. And how even... ten years ago, even NOW there are people repeating the same old refrains all about the bombs. When in reality, the situation is pretty transparent.
I wrote a research paper on this topic my junior year of college. This is 100% spot on. Truman’s military advisers told him Japan would surrender once Russia joined the effort, estimated within 3 months. You can read the meeting minutes of the president, his advisers, members of the Manhattan project, etc discussing their plan. Wild shit.
Chrissy I was going through a personal renaissance about Ww2. Same time I discovered you and HH. Been a fan since and saw you in SF. Keep the history segments going!
Chris this was awesome, man!
Please do more videos like this. I can’t tell you how excited I was when I saw this pop up in my notifications.
