I'm not surprised about Icon's bankruptcy, though it's a bit sad. It's a great-looking aircraft and undoubtedly a lot of fun to fly. But at $350K or so for a 2-place sport amphibian, there really aren't many potential customers. And as pointed out, they came up with some puzzling requirements in contracts. At 7:05 "problems with truthful dialogue" is a nice way of putting it. : )

Im just a Wannabe student Pilot that with 68Hrs to PPL never finished, been telling all this in forums but im jus one guy, companies will fail sooner or later due to high pricing, I started paying $30/hour but now a $250@$300/hr plus Taxes and Landing fees, rates will not survive for just a few. So sad that the best LSA AND kIT aircraft maker Vans AIrcraft is almost bankruptcy, my best bet was an RV12 but it started in about $45K with now pricing above $100K when LSAs was supposed to be cheap, less regulated and affordable to many, NOT NOW. GA will simply not survived as it happened in about 1986. Prices should fall almost 50% from actual values or pricing or Aviation will never make it fullfill required shortless of Pilots. Im just a frustrated wannabe LSA or PPL pilot...dream doomed!

The icon was a nice toy, but for that price, i can buy a la270 lake amphib, a real airplane, or a decent used cessna 180 on floats.

With the contract to buy a ICON you never really own the airplane, who would do that?
